World Cup defending champions France will face off against some familiar foes in Group D this year. Australia and Denmark were in their group in 2018, with Tunisia replacing Peru as the fourth team in the group.
The French team will feature a lot of familiar faces, and the Danes will be looking to be the surprise team this year.
Let’s dive in on the best odds for Group D at the 2022 World Cup.
World Cup Group D Winner Odds
- France (-170)
- Denmark (+200)
- Australia (+2400)
- Tunisia (+2400)
World Cup Group D odds are current as of 12 p.m. EST, on Nov. 21, at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Les Bleus are favored to comfortably win Group D just as they won Group C in 2018. The Danish Dynamite have the second-best odds to win the group, but will most likely be fighting for second place and a spot in the knockout stage.
Denmark and Australia played to a draw in 2018, and their matchup this year could very well decide who will advance alongside France from Group D.

World Cup Group D Preview
France (-170)
It will be a difficult feat for France to go back to back as World Cup champions as it has not been done since Brazil won the cup in 1958 and then again in 1962. The French will be returning a majority of the team that won the cup in 2018, with a few key absences.
Midfielders Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté, who featured very prominently for the French four years ago, miss out through long-term injury. Didier Deschamps‘ squad has also lost a few plays just since arriving to Qatar, as Christopher Nkunku and Karim Benzema both went down in pre-tournament training sessions.
That leaves a lot of the pressure on the shoulders of Kylian Mbappé, who could likely pair up with 2018 strike partner Olivier Giroud in a 3-4-1-2. Luckily for the French, Ousmane Dembélé and Kingsley Coman are in great form and they should see the pitch if France is to go far in the tournament.
Anything short of a trip back to the finals will be a disappointment for the French faithful.
Denmark (+200)
The Danes will look to build off of their semi-final run during the 2020 Euros. They were eliminated by England at the Euros, but look like a sleeper team heading into this World Cup.
One of the biggest stories surrounding the Denmark team is the health and current play of Christian Eriksen. It was a scary moment when he went down at the Euros, and it almost looked like he may never play again. He is one of the bright spots on Manchester United this season and is entering the World Cup in top form.
Denmark has a very solid backline which includes the new Barcelona man Andreas Christensen, and they will look to hold possession in the midfield. They will be a tough team to break down and could give France a tough test in the group stage. They played France to a draw at the last World Cup.

Australia (+2400)
The Australians will be pushing for the second spot in the group, but will most likely be fighting for third with Tunisia. They qualified for the World Cup by beating Peru in the intercontinental playoff during qualifiers.
In 2018, Australia lost 1-2 to France and drew 1-1 with Denmark during the group stage. The two goals scored by the Socceroos came from two Mile Jedinak penalty kicks. They lack the offensive quality to create good opportunities and that will be their downfall in the tournament.
Tunisia (+2400)
Tunisia did win a game at the 2018 World Cup, beating Panama 2-1 in their final group stage game. Unfortunately, they lost both matches against England and Belgium, thus failing to qualify for the knockout stage.
It would not be surprising if Tunisia lost all three group matches.
World Cup Group D Winner Best Bet
Denmark (+200) at FanDuel Sportsbook
WAGER: 0.5 Units
Denmark could be this Cup’s version of Croatia 2018: the surprise team that goes far in the tournament.
The Danes are very familiar with France and have not lost in their last two matches against them. They won 2-1 in their recent Nations League match and had a 0-0 draw in their third group stage match at the 2018 World Cup.

Group Straight Forecast: France/Denmark (+100) at FanDuel Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
France and Denmark should be the two teams qualifying from this group, with the French clinching the top spot. This would be a repeat of 2018 when France won their group and Denmark finished in second behind them.
Playing the probability that Denmark will be unable to pull off the upset, this is a great hedge for World Cup betting.
France to Reach the Semifinals (+145) at FanDuel Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
If France wins their Round of 16 game, then a showdown with England is most likely on the horizon in the quarterfinals. This will be a huge match between two European juggernauts, and at +145, this is great value for France to advance.
England has all the talent in the World, but has yet to put it all together. They came up short in the Euro finals against Italy and have not been in form during the UEFA Nations League matches.
