Casual golf fans may forget that the PGA Championship has been permanently moved from August to May.

To make room for the FedExCup Playoffs, the PGA moved its championship from mid-August to mid-May in 2019. Instead of being the final major championship played each calendar season, it’s now the second — jammed between the Masters in April and United States Open that’s held each year in June.

This year, the PGA Championship will be played May 19-22 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Betting on the PGA is a cinch, although winning is a little bit tougher. That’s why we’re here to help.

Benefits of Betting on the PGA Championship Online

It used to be that sports betting was confined to Las Vegas, but with legal online gambling cropping up in new states every day betting on sports has never been easier or more convenient.

PGA Tour Golf is one of the most popular sports for bettors to wager on, and betting on the PGA online is simple, and it’s the best way to get in on the action. Online sportsbooks have a slew of prop bets, plus bettors can odds-shop in hopes of netting the best profit.

Shopping odds is simple when you have multiple sportsbooks right at your fingertips instead of gambling at a brick-and-mortar sportsbook. Online sports betting also gives you the option to bet while the tournament is ongoing, with constantly updating odds based on the action.

Best PGA Championship Betting Sites

There are no shortage of legal online betting sites to choose from, but here are a few of our favorites.

Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars Sportsbook has great odds for golf and no shortages of markets on the PGA Championship. You can bet on the tournament winner, the margin of victory, plus a vast assortment of props like the top-finishing player from each country, who will lead after each round and whether there will be a hole-in-one or much more.

Betting with Caesars also comes with rewards which can be redeemed for hotel stays, dining credits and more, which means you’ll be earning whether you win or lose on your PGA Championship bets.

BetMGM Sportsbook

BetMGM is a partner with the PGA Tour, which makes it a great option for betting on golf and the PGA, specifically. BetMGM offers a stellar number of prop bets for the PGA Championship, including if there will be an albatross, aka a double-eagle, if the tournament winner will be from a certain group or if any of the field’s players will make the cut.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel Sportsbook is the No. 1 online sportsbook in the United States and has a partnership with the PGA Tour. FanDuel also has a loaded number of props to bet on during the tournament.

FanDuel even will add special options for bettors, offering props like if three players will finish in the top-10, or match bets between two competing players. The FanDuel app also enables PGA Championship bettors the option to Same-Game Parlay props, like who will finish with the best score after each round in each group. With Same-Game Parlay+, potential golf bettors can include multiple markets for other sports — or other tournaments — to produce a mega parlay with a huge payout.

DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings Online Sportsbook makes golf betting easy and user-friendly with an easy-to-digest table that enables bettors to choose if their golfer will win, finish top-5 or top-10 or make/miss the cut.

DraftKings also offers a ton of prop options for golf bettors and has a easy-to-navigate user interface that lets bettors find their favorite markets without too much effort.

Plus, DraftKings offers exceptional odds for each betable markets, so PGA Championship gamblers can know they are competing with one of the world’s best sportsbooks.

BetRivers Sportsbook

BetRivers Online Sportsbook makes gambling on golf super-simple, with hundreds of markets for major tournaments plus helpful tips and stats for users trying to make the most informed decisions. Prospective golf gamblers can even search by name to see exactly how well each player has done at recent tournaments, or at specific courses like Southern Hills, so they can make the most educated predictions in their PGA Championship betting.

The BetRivers app also provides a helpful glossary for novice bettors who want to get in on the action but are less familiar with regular gambling terminology. Bettors who might feel intimidated asking what minus-odds are or what a teaser is can feel great and unjudged thanks to BetRivers’ helpful glossary.

How To Pick the Best PGA Championship Betting Sites

There are many ways to determine which should be your preferred sportsbook for PGA Championship bets. For instance:

  • Odds: The best odds provide bettors with the best possible profit. Sometimes it’s as simple as which bet you want to make with the best odds you can find.
  • Boosts: If Patrick Reed is regularly going off at -110 to finish in the top-10 but is boosted to +150 on a particular online sportsbook, it’s definitely worth it to max out the profit based on the boost. Sportsbooks will curate their own custom boosts for each day of a golf tournament, or other marquee sporting events, which gives bettors the opportunity to cash in on bets they love.
  • Welcome bonuses: Is there a deposit match or bet-and-get promo for making a bet you were planning to anyway? Take advantage of each online sportsbook’s welcome code and bonus to max out your playable funds then use it to win big while betting on the PGA.
  • Deposit/withdraw methods. If the goal is to win money then we want to make sure we can get our money as soon as possible. Find the sportsbook that makes depositing and withdrawing money a breeze.

Best PGA Championship Bets You Can Make

Betting on the PGA can be overwhelming, since there are hundreds of markets on which to wager and sportsbooks dial up the options for major championship bettors. So here is a handy guide:

  • Matchups. Betting on a player to finish in the top-10, or to win the tournament, can be a crapshoot. If you’re a conservative bettor, or someone who doesn’t want his whole weekend of watching the PGA ruined by player’s 6-over on Thursday, you can bet a single golfer to finish with the lowest score in his group — or in a head-to-head match against another specific golfer.
  • Will there be a hole-in-one? The odds-for a hole-in-one are typically about Even money, and holes-in-one are arguably the most exciting play in golf. which means you can cash in on the excitement when any golfer hits an ace.
  • Pick a former champion to finish in the top-10. The PGA isn’t as gimmicky as the U.S. Open or Open Championship, which dial up the hazards and rough and thus serves more as a war of attrition. Phil Mickelson won in 2021 with a score of -6, something of a shocker, but he was one of the four former winners to finish in the top-10.

Live Betting on the PGA Championship

Live betting is a great way to assess what is happening before you get in on the action. Bettors can monitor play and get better odds on markets like which player will make the cut, which will finish in the top-5 or top-10 or who will win.

Obviously, the odds will deteriorate for favorites as they get closer to winning, but if you see a player making a charge and want to cash in on his run to the title, you can do that via live betting.

Betting Site Offers to Keep in Mind

The PGA may not be the marquee betting event that the Masters is, but online sportsbooks still will dial up promos and boosts designed at attracting those fans who haven’t bet on the sport before. Some of these include:

No-Deposit Bonus/Free Bet

No-deposit bonuses are basically free money sportsbooks offer just for signing up. These offers are typically more common in the online casino realm, but some sportsbooks will throw in a no-deposit bonus when you sign up. To claim these offers, all you need to do is register a new account, and a free bet or site credit will be waiting for you once the registration process is complete.

First-Deposit Bonus

Nearly every online sportsbook offers a first-deposit match or bonus, and most online sportsbooks will offer partial- or full-deposit matches for gamblers centered around marquee sporting events like golf majors.

The first-deposit match is one of the best offers you can find, since it boosts your playable funds without any strings attached — other than bettors must wager a certain amount before they can withdraw. Still, if you’re interested in getting in and staying in the betting game, the first-deposit bonus is the best new offer you can find.

Risk-Free Bet

Risk-free bets are valuable too since most online sportsbooks will give bettors a freebie up to a certain amount — sometimes as much as $5,000. Bettors can take their free bet and put it on a long shot without fear of losing that money since it is reimbursed as either a site credit or free bet of that amount.

The only major concern about risk-free betting is a bettor is only guaranteed two bets. If both lose, then the gambler is out that money. If this is concerning, search for a risk-free bet that reimburses as site credit, which softens the blow of if your first bet doesn’t land.

Bet & Get

Bet and gets are great as well since bettors typically need to only wager a small amount and will get paid out in the form of free bets. Every sportsbook will offer a bet-and-get promotion, again usually around marquee sporting events, and the beauty of them is your stake remains small and your return can boost your playable funds.

Bet and gets are almost universally reserved for new customers only, as opposed to deposit matches or free-bet promos, but they are a great way to build your playable funds without putting out much money.

Where Can I Legally Bet on the PGA Online?

Although online sports gambling is not legal yet in Oklahoma, thus eliminating the fun of betting on the event for those lucky enough to score tickets to this year’s PGA, there are more than a dozen states where online betting of the tournament is allowed. They are:

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Louisiana
  • Michigan
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Wyoming

Why You Should Avoid Illegal Betting Sites

Because why wager at unregulated and seedy gambling sites when you can bet on the up-and-up? Offshore gambling sites were essential before online gambling was legal, but with more and more states legalizing the practice why go anywhere else?

Plus, each legal online sportsbook has welcome offers and exceptional odds and makes it easy for new and novice gamblers to boost their playable balance and have fun in the process.

Choose More Than One PGA Championship Betting Site

It’s always important to have funds in more than one online betting site. Different books have different odds for different events, and some will boost those odds for marquee events like the PGA, which means it is integral to take advantage of those offers to max out your playable funds.

Plus you’ll want to play around on different apps and websites to determine which sportsbook is right for you, so you might as well take advantage of each site’s welcome bonus as you become comfortable finding your preferred book.
