A Detailed Look at How Kalshi Works
Kalshi is a leading prediction brand regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and classified as a Designated Contract Market (DCM) for trading options and futures.
You can trade on many real-world event contracts spanning categories like sports, crypto, politics, culture, climate, and the economy. All you need to do is choose Yes or No for your preferred Kalshi event contracts. Once your prediction is correct, you’ll receive a $1 payout. Note that there may be differences in the probabilities due to liquidity and bid-ask spreads.
Each event contract has a probability percentage often tied to the Yes outcome. For instance, if the probability of more tech layoffs in 2026 than in 2025 is 71%, it shows that 71% of the contract traders believe the event will happen, so they traded Yes.
Kalshi runs a peer-to-peer system. Rather than trading against the prediction site, you trade against fellow traders. There are no set Kalshi trading fees, as the amount charged depends on the number of contracts you want to buy and their prices. Based on experience, specific event markets also determine the trading fee.
How to Make a Parlay on Kalshi
As already established, Kalshi doesn’t feature parlays. However, it offers a parlay-like feature called combo, which allows traders to trade custom combinations of events.
You can create combos on the site using the combo builder. From my experience, combos are usually available close to the time of the event. I also discovered that the Kalshi combo feature is currently available only on professional football, professional basketball, and mention markets.
To use the Kalshi combo feature, I selected my preferred individual contracts and submitted them via the Request for Quote (RFQ) system to establish liquidity and pricing. Here’s how the RFQ process works: when a combo is requested, other market participants can respond with a quote to act as the counterparty and take the other side of the position since trading is peer-to-peer.
Note that if one of the positions in a combo is voided, for instance, if a player is required to play but doesn’t, the combo will resolve to the product of each of the underlying positions. Each position in the combo is subject to its market rules.

Top 3 Tips for a Rewarding Kalshi Parlay
After making combo predictions at Kalshi for weeks, the following are my top three tips for a rewarding combo forecast experience:
Don’t Add Too Many Legs
The first rule guiding my combo prediction is to avoid adding too many legs. Each leg you add to a combo increases your possibility of getting a $0 payout. Therefore, it’s best to add a few legs.
I usually add two or three legs to my combo. It’s better than adding five or ten legs just to get bigger potential payouts.
Stay Updated on Industry News
Since the combo feature is mostly available on professional football and basketball event contracts, I recommend staying up to date on your preferred sport’s news.
If you prefer making Kalshi sports predictions mainly on professional football, follow all the popular football bloggers and join relevant online forums. That’s one of the ways I stay updated on the latest news to make potentially correct predictions.
Monitor Your Trade
You can sell your contracts at Kalshi after making your predictions. As such, it’s best to monitor your trade. Sometimes, I don’t wait for the contract to settle when I make combo forecasts.
That’s because one leg is enough to make me lose the entire prediction. Therefore, I monitor my trade. When the trade is going up, I may sell and take my reward. If the trade is going down, I may also sell to manage losses.
Conclusion – Make Combo Forecasts on Pro Football, Pro Basketball, and More at Kalshi

To use the Kalshi combo feature, submit it via the RFQ system to establish liquidity and pricing. Remember, combos are typically available close to the start of the event.
However, keep in mind that this feature is only available on professional football and basketball, plus the mention markets. Click the banners on this page to sign up at Kalshi today and start making combos.
