Jets vs Seahawks Predictions & Odds

Last Updated: Dec 27, 2022

The New York Jets (7-8) will look to avoid their fifth straight game when they travel to Lumen Field to take on the (7-8) Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.

The Jets’ latest defeat came at the hands of Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Robert Saleh‘s offense has been the most significant point of concern for New York during their losing streak and they only managed a field goal in the 19-3 loss last week.

Seattle is in a slump itself, losing three straight contests and winning just one of the last five. Even so, the Seahawks still find themselves in the hunt for the playoffs, and a win on Sunday will be vital in securing a spot in the postseason.

Let’s dig into the latest New York vs Seattle odds for this Week 17 matchup.

Jets vs Seahawks Odds

As of Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. ET, Caesars Sportsbook is backing the away side to steal a win on the road despite some glaring struggles recently.

Oddsmakers appear to believe Mike White being reintroduced to the starting lineup will be a big boost for the Jets’ offense given the 42.5-point total. Geno Smith and Seattle’s offense has not been playing particularly well either and a stern Jets’ defense immediately makes the Under an enticing option.

Jets vs Seahawks Implied Totals

Jets 22.25, Seahawks 20.25

With neither team managing to eclipse their predicted totals in their last two games, it is interesting to see such a high implied total for both squads. Bookmakers seem to believe both offenses perform much better with the postseason within reach for both squads.

Jets vs Seahawks Prediction

Jets 20, Seahawks 17

Saleh and the Jets will heavily lean on White to salvage their playoff hopes and the former fifth-round pick will deliver in a must-win road game.

White will look to improve on the combined 19-for-33 for 182 yards and one interception performance that Zach Wilson and Chris Streveler managed during last week’s loss. The Jets as a team finished the contest with just 227 yards of offense - two yards fewer than Lawrence had himself.

The Jets’ offense has been at its best with White under center, including a 31-10 victory against the Chicago Bears in his first start. While the four-year veteran will be returning from a significant rib injury, the rest of the team appears to play more inspired with White at the helm and that trend will continue come Sunday.

Pete Carroll‘s Seahawks surprised many when they jumped out to a 6-4 start to the season. However, since that point, Seattle is just 1-4 with several underwhelming performances on both sides of the football in that time.

One of the most glaring causes for the recent slump has been the coming down of the once-hot quarterback play Carroll was receiving from Smith. The former second-round pick has a 10:5 touchdown-interception ratio during this span compared to 17:4 in the first 10 games.

Smith and the offense only managed to post 10 points in last weekend’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs despite a strong performance from Kenneth Walker III who finished with 107 yards on the ground. With Ahmad “Sauce" Gardner and the impressive Jets’ defense coming to town, you can expect more of the same from the faltering Seattle offense.

Jets vs Seahawks Best Bets

Under 42.5 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 2 Units

With both offenses struggling to put up many points over the past few weeks, the Under for this game seems like the most reasonable option to nearly double your money.

Additionally, White will likely look rusty after missing the last two games due to injury.

Jets: Under 21 Points (+104) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

While White’s return should be a big boost for the offense, the quarterback play has not been the only issue for Saleh’s squad over the past few weeks.

With New York failing to establish a strong run game and Seattle allowing the ninth-lowest completions per game, the Jets will not magically turn into a high-powered offense despite getting their starting quarterback back in the starting lineup.
