Coming off an absolute beatdown over the Texans, Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins head to San Francisco to face Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers in Week 13
The Dolphins are 8-3 and sit atop the AFC East, just edging out the Buffalo Bills for first place. Miami has now won five-straight, including a dominant Week 12 victory where they embarrassed the Texans and didn’t even use their starters for the majority of the second half.
As for San Francisco, they’re fresh off a shutout against the New Orleans Saints and sit in first place in the NFC West. Their defense has been playing great and they’ve won four games in a row after a two-game losing streak.

As the former offensive coordinator for the 49ers, Miami head coach Mike McDaniel returns to San Francisco with his new team. The Dolphins acquired Tyreek Hill his offseason, and between Hill and second-year wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, they’ve been extremely fun to watch.
Speaking of fun to watch, this 49ers offense fits that description as well. Since acquiring star running back Christian McCaffrey from the Panthers, Garoppolo has had plenty of weapons to choose from. Deebo Samuel might run for a touchdown, and on the next possession, McCaffrey might catch one. Needless to say, they can attack you from all over the field.
Still, while the Dolphins’ offense has been one of the best in the NFL (25.6 points per game, sixth-best in the NFL), their defense has been underwhelming (19th in the NFL at 23.3 points per game allowed).
The San Francisco offense is middle of the pack at 22.6 points per game, but since acquiring McCaffrey, they’re at 25.4 points per game. That, coupled with their NFL-leading defense (15.7 points per game allowed), has me taking the 49ers to win this one outright.
This could be one of the most exciting matchups of the week and a high-scoring one at that.

While this 49ers defense has been tough and offenses tend to struggle against them, Hill and Waddle are the best wide receiver duo in the NFL. Tagovailoa has made strides this year with his passing, and I’m betting they’ll produce despite the tough matchup.
The Dolphins are averaging 291.5 passing yards per game — second in the NFL behind the Chiefs — and Tagovailoa has 19 passing touchdowns, tied for fifth in the league. They’ll put up a fight against one of the toughest defenses in the NFL, and with their weak defense, could be forced to air it out if they fall behind.
Miami’s running game has also stepped up as of late, and former 49ers running back Jeff Wilson has scored in three-straight games. Raheem Mostert is also now with the Dolphins, and he might play against his former team after missing last week with a knee injury.

While the 49ers are the favorite in this one and the team I’m predicting to win, it’s worth considering betting on the Dolphins to cover. I think as the game gets closer, we might see this line tighten up a bit as well.
