Betting is about making money, but I’m not sure all that much can be made by betting on whom will be the third quarterback selected in the upcoming NFL Draft.
There are three options with very similar odds, and the reality is all of them could ultimately be the third signal-caller that comes off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft. Here’s a rundown of the players and odds, courtesy of PointsBet.
3rd QB Prop Bet: Predicting No. 3 QB Picked in 2021 NFL Draft
- Justin Fields, Ohio State (+125)
- Zach Wilson, BYU (+150)
- Trey Lance, North Dakota State (+175)
- Mac Jones, Alabama (+700)
- Trevor Lawrence, Clemson (+5000)
- Kyle Trask, Florida (+5000)
Justin Fields (+125) somewhat surprisingly has the best odds to be the third QB drafted, but if you read what I wrote about the second QB to be drafted, you’ll know I’m not buying that. I’m predicting Fields to go to the New York Jets or whoever ends up with the No. 2 overall pick.
That seemingly leaves two options, in my mind, to be the third QB drafted in the 2021 NFL draft: Zach Wilson (+150) or Trey Lance (+175). I think either could be the player you should bet on here, but the value is what makes it tough for me. At less than 2-to-1 odds neither will be a big boon for your bankroll.
3rd QB Prop Bet: Pauly’s Pick
However, that doesn’t mean we can’t make some money here.
Wilson is the hot name, and he is actually the favorite to be the second QB selected, but I have a feeling that the Jets will trade out of the No. 2 slot and that whoever ends up there will take Fields. That puts me on Wilson, at +150 odds, to be the third QB to be taken in the upcoming draft.
While the third quarterback off the board won’t necessarily be the third-overall pick, waiting until, let’s say, pick No. 6 or No. 8 could make it worth your while with plus odds on the QB out of BYU.
