Kansas vs UNC Prop Bets 2022 | Best National Championship Player Props, Game Props, & Betting Sites

Posted: Apr 4, 2022Last updated: Apr 4, 2022

March Madness is a sports bettor’s dream. There are so many games going on each day, with some overlapping in time, so there is always action. From crazy buzzer-beaters to surprising upsets, the tournament is sure to have you on the edge of your seat.

While prop betting has exploded in popularity in recent years, it’s not as popular with college basketball.

Most bettors still gravitate towards traditional markets like moneylines, totals, and point spreads. This means that you can get an edge with prop betting, since the market may not be as sharp. It’s also fun to watch your player go Over or Under his total.

Today, Garrett Chorpenning will be taking a look at the best prop bets available for the NCAA Tournament’s National Championship Game between Kansas and North Carolina.

Then, Jason Radowitz takes a look at March Madness prop betting’s general strategy, exploring the process behind choosing the right prop to build your bankroll.

Fortunately for us, there’s no shortage of top-tier talent in this year’s title game between Kansas and North Carolina.

Armando Bacot has become a household name for the Tar Heels. The third-year forward has registered a double-double in every round of the NCAA Tournament, averaging 15.4 points and 16.8 rebounds per game.

For the Jayhawks, you have to start with Ochai Agbaji. A projected lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, Agbaji averaged nearly 20 points per game during the regular season and helped Kansas earn one of the top seeds in the tourney.

Let’s check out our best National Championship player props.

All March Madness odds are current as of Monday, April 4, at 1 p.m. ET from Caesars Sportsbook.

Caleb Love, North Carolina: OVER 17.5 Points (-130) at Caesars

WAGER: 1 Unit

Caleb Love was a terror for opposing defenses throughout the regular season, but the sophomore guard has reached new heights in the NCAA Tournament. Love is averaging 20 points over his last five games, two of which saw him drain six three-pointers.

One big reason for Love’s success is an increase in volume, particularly from beyond the arc. He’s attempted double-digit threes in five of his last six games.

Three of the four highest-scoring games of Love’s collegiate career have come in this year’s NCAA Tournament. Look for him to keep the momentum going and hit the Over here for our CBB bet of the day.

Ochai Agbaji, Kansas: OVER 16.5 Points (-125) at Caesars

WAGER: 1 Unit

Unlike Love, Agbaji’s points prop for this game is actually lower than his season average. The Wooden Award Finalist got off to a slow start in the NCAA Tournament, averaging just 10.3 points in his first three games.

Agbaji’s found his rhythm has the tourney has progressed, however, tallying 39 points over his last two games combined on 14-of-20 shooting from the floor, including 8-of-9 from downtown.

If ever there’s a time to lean on your star player, this is it. Leaky Black could make things difficult on defense for Agbaji, but expect him to get plenty of looks as Kansas aims for its first title since 2008.

Brady Manek, North Carolina: UNDER 2.5 Three-Pointers (-105) at Caesars

WAGER: 1 Unit

UNC sharpshooter Brady Manek has been on fire from deep throughout the NCAA Tournament, sinking 3.8 three-pointers per game on 47.5% shooting. He’s nailed at least three triples in all five tournament games so far, but there’s a chance that streak comes to an end tonight.

Opponents are shooting just 30.1% from three-point range against Kansas this season, which ranks 26th in the nation. Their perimeter defense was on display against Providence and Miami, who went a combined 7-of-44 (15.9%) from beyond the arc against the Jayhawks.

Manek will have his work cut out for him against this Kansas team. At (-105) odds, there’s good value in taking the Under on this prop.

National Championship Game Props 2022

In addition to a wide range of player props, there are plenty of game props available for the National Championship Game as well. If you’re less familiar with the individual faces on each side, these are the markets you’ll likely prefer to bet on.

Trends can be helpful to rely on here, particularly when looking at a team’s recent stretch of play. For example, UNC has looked like a completely different team since the NCAA Tournament began, so we shouldn’t put too much stock in their regular-season statistics.

Below are three of the best National Championship Game props for tonight’s showdown.

Kansas vs North Carolina: UNDER 151 Total Points (-110) at Caesars

WAGER: 1 Unit

On paper, this projects to be a high-scoring game. Both teams rank inside the top 20 in adjusted offense per KenPom, and they both play at a relatively fast pace as well.

However, oddsmakers may have set the bar a touch too high at 151 total points.

The Jayhawks have held their opponents in check throughout the NCAA Tournament, allowing just 60.8 points per game — a considerable decrease from the 68.6 points they allowed per game during the regular season. There’s also the potential for players to tighten up and miss shots they would normally make, especially at the foul line.

I’m expecting both teams to score in the mid-to-low 70s, resulting in the Under by a few points.

North Carolina: First Half Moneyline (+140) at Caesars

WAGER: 1 Unit

More often than not, the Tar Heels have overwhelmed their opponents in the first half throughout the NCAA Tournament. UNC outscored Marquette by 28 in the first half, Baylor by 13, and Saint Peter’s by 19. They trailed at the half against Duke and UCLA, but only by three points each.

Kansas, on the other hand, has largely been a second-half team in the tourney, highlighted by its 47-15 advantage over Miami in the second half of their Elite 8 matchup.

At the very least, North Carolina should keep things close in the first half. Caesars has them as a two-point underdog for the opening frame, but this is the better value pick at (+140) odds.

Kansas: Second Half Spread -1.5 (-125) at Caesars

WAGER: 1 Unit

Piggybacking off of our previous pick, we like Kansas to cover the second-half spread, which is set at just 1.5 points. Outside of their matchup with Texas Southern in the first round — which the Jayhawks won decidedly in the first half — Kansas has covered the second-half spread in three of its four NCAA Tournament games.

The Jayhawks are not a team that goes out quietly. They tend to rally from first-half deficits and keep things competitive after halftime. Even if they don’t beat the Tar Heels, there’s a good chance they win the second half by a possession or more.

How March Madness Prop Betting Works

Prop bets are wagers that are made without the game outcome, spread or total in mind. Typically props involve players, where bettors can wager on an individual’s total number of points, rebounds, assists or any combination of those stats. There are also team props, like placing a bet on a team’s total points.

Prop betting is one of the most popular ways to bet pro sports, and although college prop betting isn’t quite as ubiquitous — due in part to laws against wagering on player props in certain states — there are options for bettors who are interested in cheering on their alma mater or favorite team without worrying about if they’ll win or cover.

How To Pick the Best March Madness Prop Betting Sites

Choosing a betting app to use for your March Madness prop betting is a science, and it all comes down to preference. But there are some ways to determine which betting site is right for you:

  • Odds: Odds clearly are the most important factor when considering which sportsbook to choose for prop betting. The best odds mean the largest profit, which is the most important factor when placing a bet.
  • Markets: Some sportsbooks offer a wide assortment of props. Others provide fewer options. If your heart is set on betting a college basketball prop then you’ll want to find the bet you love.
  • Boosts: If Gonzaga’s first-half spread is boosted from -6.5 to -3.5 that’ll make your bet more likely to hit. If a player prop odds are boosted from -110 to +105 that’ll make your profit larger. Each book has different boosts each day, which means it’s important to shop for the best odds.

March Madness Prop Betting Promotions

There are a lot of different sportsbook promos to consider before placing your March Madness prop bet online. For instance, sportsbooks typically will boost odds ahead of marquee events which makes the prop bet you love more enticing.

Plus if you’re a new or novice bettor you can dedicate your new signup bonus, which is added when you sign up with any online sportsbook, to putting money down on your preferred prop.

What CBB Props Can I Bet in My State?

Legal props vary from state to state. For instance, in New Jersey and New York, you can’t bet on in-state teams or props in games featuring in-state. In New York, Indiana, and Pennsylvania player props are not allowed for any game.

Player props are widely available for major-conference regular season games and every NCAA tournament game, except for those with teams in-state in New Jersey. However, game props are fine betting markets in every state.

If you’re looking for a particular market and are in a state that either bans player props or betting on games featuring in-state teams that is likely why it’s unavailable.

Best March Madness Prop Bets

The best bets are the ones we love, so make sure you love the bet you’re putting in before you place it. But there are other ways to gain an advantage while putting in prop bets.

For instance, if you love an upstart or underdog to keep things interesting against a better-seeded team, you can bet on that team to cover the first-half spread under the game props section in each sportsbook. You can dig into the data on each sportsbook, or do your research, to zero in on matchups that others may not have the time to take advantage of.

March Madness Player Props

Player props are a huge part of gambling on March Madness since the tournament features the best players in the nation, and they’re all easy to find on television. Still, player prop betting isn’t legal in every state, since states are concerned about the integrity of each game, so be sure to consult our handy section below that spells out where you can bet on college basketball player props.

But if you are in a state that enables player prop betting it is one of the most fun ways to wager on March Madness, particularly since it mitigates some of the anxiety about upsets. A star player could go over his points or points/rebounds/assists prop even if his team loses, thus making you a winner without having to root against Cinderella.

March Madness Prop Betting Strategy

There are various strategies to hitting a successful prop during the NCAA tournament. For instance, if you see or believe in a matchup that looks close on paper, but are uncertain about an underdog’s ability to hang with its prestigious first-round opponent for 40 minutes, you can wager on the first-half spread or that team’s point total.

If you are in a state that allows player props and love the idea of a star player from a mid-major conference going off then you can bet that player’s over for points. Or if you think he’ll be held in check, you can bet his under total for points.

A good way to check this is to look at a player’s season averages in comparison with the projected game environment. For example, let’s say that you were looking at the Over 15.5 on Chet Holmgren‘s points prop.

You can check to see that he averaged 14.2 points per game. You can also look at the point spread and game total. In this hypothetical example, let’s say Gonzaga is favored by 11.5 points with a 150.5-point total. This means that they are projected to score a lot of points, which would bode well for the Over on Holmgren’s points.
