Golf majors are always a fun time. There are a ton of bets to make, as the sportsbooks know that more people naturally pay attention to the bigger events due to TV deals and advertisement pushes and whatnot.

With this added attention comes the aforementioned number of bets available on sportsbooks, ranging from first-round leaders and finishing position props to hole-in-one bets and make/miss the cut props.

Given all of these options, we want to help you find the best ways to make some money during the major championship week, so we’re going to post our favorite PGA Championship prop bets for this year’s running.

Let’s dive right into it.

Best PGA Championship Prop Bets 2023

Top 5 After Round 1: Xander Schauffele (+700) • FanDuel Sportsbook

WAGER: 0.5 Units

This is a market that I have never quite attacked as much as the first-round leader market, but I have been seeing some value in for this major. Schauffele is a strong starter, as he ranks fourth on the PGA Tour this season in Round 1 scoring average at 68.27 over 11 total rounds.

He started the Masters off nicely, as he was in the top spot for a portion of the day and ended up tied for sixth after Day 1 at -4. The PGA Championship could be a bit tighter since this course is markedly more difficult but 7/1 is good odds for him to land in the top five.

Keep an eye on the tee times. Given that this event is in the northeast, it’s likely the weather is chilly in the morning wave, so that means that a later tee time could benefit Schauffele even more.

Top 20 Finishing Position: Sungjae Im (+130) • DraftKings Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

We covered why I love Im this week to win his first major title in our PGA Championship Predictions article, and the reasoning behind it does not change that much for this. Simply put, Sungjae has been a model of consistency over his past several events, and seems poised to win his first major championship sooner rather than later.

Hole in One for Tournament: NO (+100) • DraftKings Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Obviously, anything can happen over four rounds with 150-plus players, but I’m leaning to the no side of this tried and true prop, and I’ll tell you why.

Oak Hill is a hard course. It’s also been redesigned in the past four years, and the layout is different than 98 percent of the entrants this year will remember.

There are only four Par 3s on the course: 245 yards, 233, 180, and 155. Each has complicated bunker complexes bordering the green and tough layouts.

I am thinking that the 155-yard Par 3 is the most realistic opportunity, but it will be tough.

Top 10 Finishing Position: Cameron Young (+320) • FanDuel Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Young is going to win a major title at some point in his career. The addition of caddie Paul Tesori to his team should only help expedite the feat to happen.

It may not happen this week, but it would be a pretty solid venue for it to happen in Rochester. Young grew up a few hours away in Scarborough, N.Y., and is used to the style of golf course in the area..

For now, we’ll take a top-10 finish for Young in another major, as he has now three top-10 finishes in his last five major starts dating back to last season. Young’s driving distance will be a major asset for him at Oak Hill, as will his approach game from 200 yards and further.

FanDuel started off as a leader in daily fantasy sports before becoming the No. 1 online sportsbook in America. The FanDuel online sportsbook offers elite odds and has a partnership with the PGA Tour, which means it dials up the boosts and promos for each of golf’s four annual majors.

The FanDuel online sportsbook created the Same Game Parlay, which enables bettors to combine individual markets from the same event, which is perfect for an event like the PGA Championship. Bettors can combine markets from each round, or for the PGA as a whole, and get longer odds and thus a bigger payout.

FanDuel also offers the Same-Game Parlay+, which enables bettors to combine multiple markets from multiple events. These factors, along with unique betting options, makes FanDuel one of the best options around.

Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars Sportsbook has become a giant in the iGaming industry following the purchase of reputable betting site William Hill in 2021. Caesars has a user-friendly app and a plethora of prop options for golf bettors, particularly for majors like the PGA Championship.

Plus, every bet at the Caesars online sportsbook comes with Caesars rewards, which enables bettors to earn points on each wager, win or lose, that they can use toward dining, hotel stays and other perks at Caesars properties nationwide.

BetMGM Sportsbook

BetMGM has emerged as one of the leaders in the iGaming industry, typically due to its presence among the first in each state when legal online sports betting is rolled out. The BetMGM app is awesome too and offers exceptional customer service and support, which means if there’s a probably it will be rectified quickly.

Bet365 Sportsbook

Bet365 is a veteran in the sports betting industry, priding itself as the world’s largest operator. The bet365 online sportsbook offers a great live-betting experience that enables users to parlay in-game bets. The sportsbook even offers live player props, which isn’t always standard.

Plus, bet365 makes finding betting markets is simple, and there are dozens to choose from, which makes a great option for golf fans who want to win big on the PGA.

WynnBet provides an accessible betting platform with a user-friendly app and several betting markets that feature fair odds.

The WynnBet app and online sportsbook gives users a great new signup offer where bettors who put down $10 will get $200 in free bets. That means that a simple $10 wager on one player to win the PGA will net the new user $200 in free bets to also place on the PGA or another marquee sporting event listed above.

How To Pick the Best PGA Championship Prop Betting Sites

It’s important to think about what makes a good site for the PGA Championship prop betting. Here are a few criteria to consider

  • Odds: The best odds lead to the best payouts. Since betting is all about winning money, the best odds are the most important factor when choosing a prop bet or prop betting site.
  • Markets: Markets, or the bet types, are important because the best bets are the ones we love. So if there’s a PGA-related bet we love, but it’s only available at one online sportsbook, it is essential to have funds in that sportsbook to take advantage of that wager.
  • Boosts: Odds boosts are great because they provide more value for your bet. Since, as stated above, the goal is winning money, getting an odds boost is a great way to add to your playable funds and profit.
  • Welcome Bonus: Every sportsbook has some sort of welcome offer to entice new users, but some are better than others. Choosing a new-user bonus, like a first-deposit match, a bet-and-get or a risk-free bet that reimburses in site credit, can instantly give you more bang for your buck and thus allow you to play longer without constantly depositing more of your hard-earned money.

PGA Championship Prop Betting Promotions

The PGA Championship is one of the most bet-on events in golf, and there will be no shortage of promos to pick from in the coming days. DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM always create boosts for each round of a golf tournament, and Wynn’s bet-and-get will enable gamblers to put the bonus funds toward their favorite PGA Championship bets.

There’s a good chance that more sportsbooks will provide similar offers as we get closer to the tournament. There will definitely be a ton of odds boosts on various props, giving you more value on your wagers.

Be sure to check our Promotions page to stay up to date on any new offers. Capitalizing on these bonuses are a great way to build your bankroll.

Best PGA Championship Prop Types

My personal favorite golf prop bet is choosing the field to have a hole-in-one because the odds are reasonable and it’s a great thing to celebrate if it happens. However, there needs to be a short par-3 that players can attack, which isn’t a given at every course.

There are other smart prop bets like wagering on a player’s finish by nationality or individual tournament props such as if there will be an albatross or a wire-to-wire winner.

Player props are even better bets though since they enable bettors to cash in when their preferred player performs without having the heartache if he falls short of winning. You can gamble on him to lead the tournament after Round 1 or pick him to finish in the top-5, top-10, top-20 or even just to make the cut.

PGA Championship Prop Betting Strategy

Doing your homework is the best way to win big on most sports, and the PGA Championship is no different. Does Jordan Spieth historically play better at one PGA course over others? Is Patrick Reed’s game tailored to succeed at a specific course that is hosting the PGA?

Obviously digging into the numbers and searching for trends takes time and energy, which not all of us have. If you are among those who are looking for a crash course in PGA prop betting, make sure to read our pre-tournament analysis and use that to determine the wagers that you like best.

Or if you want to bet props that aren’t player-specific then peruse each sportsbook’s PGA Championship prop options and seek out the wagers that look and feel the best.

Benefits of PGA Championship Prop Betting Online

Betting on PGA Championship props online is superior to betting on them in-person for a lot of reasons. For instance, you can shop for the best odds and boosts that can ensure the largest payout. Also you can live-bet, or bet while each round is going, which isn’t an option at brick-and-mortar sportsbooks.

But most importantly betting on the PGA Championship online is super-convenient. You can peruse or place your bets from the couch, bed, from social functions or anywhere if you’re in a state that offers online betting. Your bet can be placed in no time, and then you’re in on the action.

Many states have a dozen or more legal, online sportsbooks, which means there are that many bonuses to take advantage of. Plus, the best way to discover your preferred sportsbook is by playing with all of them and seeing which offers the best experience.
