Friday nights are for DFS baseball and watching games. As usual, there are many games to navigate for player selections with 14 on the main slate at DraftKings tonight.
Interestingly, there’s a noticeable lack of elite starting pitching, but thankfully there are still several intriguing options to choose from. We could see some fireworks around the league though if multiple starters get knocked around.
With that in mind, let’s dig into our best MLB DFS picks today.
All MLB gameday DFS odds and prices are current as of Friday, July 8, at 9 a.m. ET from DraftKings.
MLB DFS Cash Pick Today: Hitter
Matt Olson, 1B, Atlanta Braves ($4,300)
Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals
Olson has done a pretty good job of replacing Freddie Freeman in Atlanta, swatting an MLB-high 32 doubles while batting .255/.346/.466 with 12 homers and 48 RBIs. He’s been hot over the past several weeks as well with eight doubles, four homers, 17 RBIs, and a .936 OPS over his last 18 games.
Olson also has an inviting matchup against Erick Fedde tonight, who has a 4.29 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP this year. Olson’s OPS is over 100 points higher against right-handers this year, while Fedde’s given up 12 of his 22 extra-base hits allowed to lefties.
Back Olson to stay hot with a big game at home as our MLB DFS pick of the day.

MLB DFS Cash Pick Today: Pitcher
Charlie Morton, SP, Atlanta Braves ($9,200)
Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals
Morton got off to a slow start this year, so his 4.34 ERA still looks a bit lackluster. He’s been absolutely dominant over his last few outings, however, spinning a 1.35 ERA with a 35:5 K/BB ratio in his last four starts.
The veteran righty has been a strikeout machine lately, racking up at least eight punchouts in five of his last six starts. He’s also gone at least six innings in four of those outings, so we should get some decent length from him.
Morton should keep rolling at home against the team with the most losses in the National League.
MLB DFS GPP Pick Today: Hitter
Keston Hiura, 1B/2B, Milwaukee Brewers ($2,700)
Milwaukee Brewers vs Pittsburgh Pirates
Hiura isn’t a stone-cold lock to be in Milwaukee’s starting lineup tonight, but his ability to play multiple positions gives him a good shot at slotting in somewhere on the diamond.
The .223 average isn’t pretty, but he has a strong .341 OBP and .232 ISO thanks to his batting eye and power. With eight homers and four steals in just 40 games this year, Hiura is a good bet to go yard to swipe a bag if he does suit up.

MLB DFS GPP Pick Today: Pitcher
Aaron Ashby, SP, Milwaukee Brewers ($7,400)
Milwaukee Brewers vs Pittsburgh Pirates
Ashby is strictly a GPP option. He may face a pitch restriction as well after being limited to just 62 pitches in his return from the IL last Saturday.
That said, he could see more of a full workload tonight, especially against Pittsburgh. The Pirates have the second-highest strikeout rate (25.9%) against lefties this year, which complements Ashby’s 28.1 K% this season.
The 24-year-old southpaw’s bat-missing ability gives him tons of upside here and makes him a superb GPP pick.
MLB DFS Stack Today
Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals
- Ronald Acuna ($6,000)
- Dansby Swanson ($5,300)
- Matt Olson ($4,300)
- Austin Riley ($5,200)
As noted above, Fedde’s been pretty mediocre this year, making him a ripe target for a DFS stack. He doesn’t miss many bats (7.3 K/9) and gives up lots of hits and walks, so the Braves should have plenty of baserunners against him.
Atlanta’s hitters also get a boost at home, where they rank fifth overall in wOBA (.331).
Our best MLB DFS stack today is straightforward with the top four hitters in the Braves lineup. This stack mixes on-base skills, power, and speed, creating a sky-high ceiling.
