Overview of Kalshi Deposit Fees
Kalshi supports various deposit methods, including debit cards, ACH transfers, and wire transfers. Cash App, PayPal, Venmo, and crypto are also supported.
In my review, I found a 2% fee may apply to debit card deposits on Kalshi, including those with Apple Pay and Google Pay. That means you could pay $102 if you want to fund your account with $100.
When I tested PayPal and Venmo, I didn’t pay any charges on my first deposit. However, from the second, varying fees applied, with the maximum set at 2%. If you choose cryptocurrencies, Kalshi doesn’t charge, but blockchain network fees still apply.
For Cash App and ACH bank transfers, Kalshi doesn’t take any fees. Therefore, the two payment methods are my best options for deposits on the prediction market platform. Wire transfers also don’t incur fees, but the minimum deposit is $1,000, which is high.
In summary, here’s what to know about the deposit fees on Kalshi:
| Payment Method | Fee |
|---|---|
| Debit cards (Apple Pay and Google Pay) | 2% |
| PayPal | Up to 2% from the second deposit |
| Venmo | Up to 2% from the second deposit |
| Cash App | No fees |
| ACH bank transfer | No fees |
| Wire transfer | No fees (but $1,000 minimum deposit) |
| Cryptocurrency | Blockchain fees |
Note that the available payment methods depend on location. I confirmed that Kalshi is legal in California, New York, Texas, and many other states, but the deposit options may vary between them.
Kalshi Trading Fees for Event Contracts
If you ask me, Kalshi is an affordable prediction market trading app. The site charges $0.01 or $0.02 per event contract you buy or sell, depending on the market price. Below are some examples I found in the official Kalshi fee structure document:
| Single Contract Price | Fee |
|---|---|
| $0.01 | $0.01 |
| $0.05 | $0.01 |
| $0.10 | $0.01 |
| $0.20 | $0.02 |
| $0.35 | $0.02 |
| $0.50 | $0.02 |
| $0.90 | $0.01 |
| $0.99 | $0.01 |
For context, Kalshi’s contracts cost between $0.01 and $0.99. Here’s a baseball game I traded on Kalshi for illustration:
| Prediction | Yes Outcome | No Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Philadelphia to win against Milwaukee | $0.35 | $0.66 |
I bought the Yes contracts and paid $0.02 for each. That means the total trading cost per event contract was $0.37. Note that these Kalshi fees per contract don’t differ by location. For example, while researching whether Kalshi is legal in Florida and New York, I saw the same charges.
Kalshi Fees per 100 Event Contracts
For every 100 event contracts you execute in a single trade, the applicable Kalshi fees are reduced. Based on my analysis, the difference isn’t a lot. However, you’ll appreciate it if you’re the type of user who buys or sells thousands of contracts.
You can view the fees per 100 event contracts in the table below:
| Cost of 100 Contracts | Fee |
|---|---|
| $1 | $0.07 |
| $5 | $0.34 |
| $10 | $0.63 |
| $20 | $1.12 |
| $35 | $1.60 |
| $50 | $1.75 |
| $90 | $0.63 |
| $99 | $0.07 |
I experimented by purchasing 100 event contracts at $0.50 each, for a total of $50. With the initial $0.02 fee per $0.50 event contract, I would have paid $2 for buying 100. However, as the above table shows, the charge was $1.75, saving me $0.25.
As I mentioned already, the difference isn’t much unless you’re purchasing in thousands. For instance, 10,000 event contracts at $0.50 each would cost $5,000. At that volume, you’ll pay $175 in fees instead of $200.
Kalshi Withdrawal Fee
On Kalshi, the payout methods include debit cards, ACH, crypto, PayPal, and Venmo. Unlike deposits, Kalshi doesn’t set native fees for using any of the options. I withdrew using my Mastercard debit card and didn’t pay charges, and the same applied to my ACH and PayPal payouts.
Kalshi also supports wire transfer withdrawals, and the site takes no fees. However, you can only use the option to withdraw $500,000 and above. At such a high figure, your bank will typically apply its own fees.
Furthermore, crypto withdrawals incur blockchain fees, which vary by crypto. I’ve summarized my findings regarding the Kalshi transaction fees for payouts below:
| Payment Method | Fee |
|---|---|
| Debit cards | No fees |
| ACH | No fees |
| PayPal | No fees |
| Venmo | No fees |
| Cryptocurrency | Blockchain processing fees |
| Wire transfer | Bank fees may apply |
Similar to deposits, the available Kalshi withdrawal methods depend on your location. After verifying that Kalshi is legal in Texas, I noticed slightly different payment methods compared to those in other states I’ve reviewed.
How to Avoid Fees on Kalshi
Many traders ask how to avoid Kalshi fees, and my answer is always simple: you can’t totally skip the charges on the platform. You can avoid deposit and withdrawal fees, but trading costs are built into the markets.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking to pay as little as possible for fees on Kalshi, follow my tips below:
Prioritize ACH Transfers
Payment methods like PayPal and Venmo have zero withdrawal fees, but charges may apply to your second deposit. Cash App doesn’t include a charge for funding your account, but it’s not eligible for withdrawals. Wire transfers are free for both transactions, but the minimum limits are high.
That leaves ACH as the most ideal Kalshi payment method for avoiding fees. With it, you won’t pay charges for deposits or withdrawals. My only concern about the option is that processing often takes a few days, especially for payouts.
Use the Right Cryptocurrency
If you’re a crypto user like me, digital currencies are reliable payment methods on Kalshi. Network fees apply, but you can minimize them by choosing the right coin. In my experience, popular options like BTC and ETH usually have the highest charges. Meanwhile, using USDC on Solana is more affordable with fees around $0.01 or less.
Trade Contracts Priced at $0.85+
From my observations, the Kalshi trading fee is $0.01 for contracts priced between $0.85 and $0.99. The same is true for those between $0.01 to $0.15. Meanwhile, contracts worth $0.20 to $0.80 each have a $0.02 fee.
If you want to save that $0.01, trading contracts of $0.85 and above is ideal. These events have a market probability of at least 85%, so they’re more likely to occur. I don’t recommend $0.01 to $0.15 to save on fees because the chance of winning is low.
Regularly Check for Updates
Kalshi can update its fees at any time. So, it’s important to check for updates about the structure and schedule regularly. You can then adjust your transactions to comply with the new rules and avoid fees.
Staying updated can also help you know when there are developments on Kalshi’s availability in your location. For instance, I didn’t confirm that Kalshi is legal in Washington state after the recent lawsuits in the region.

Here are the upsides and downsides to know about fees on Kalshi:
