Despite a losing record, the Arizona Diamondbacks were among ther most improved teams last season. After a dismal 2021 campaign that ended with a league-worst 100 losses, Arizona finished 2022 with a 74-88 record.
After a rough start in which the Diamondbacks posted a .295 wOBA (4th-worst) during the first three months, Arizona boasted a .324 wOBA (7th-best) from June 26 to Sept. 12. This turnaround was largely in part to the arrival of young talents such as Corbin Carroll, Jake McCarthy, Alek Thomas, and Daulton Varsho.
However, during the offseason, Arizona traded Varsho to the Toronto Blue Jays for standout catching prospect Gabriel Moreno and outfielder Lourdes Gurriel.
The Diamondbacks will enter the 2023 camping with a very talented defensive outfielder, along with a healthy Ketel Marte, who was hindered by a hamstring injury for a large part of the 2022 season. In addition, Arizona will be looking for a repeat performance out of 31-year-old first baseman Christian Walker, who posted a .477 slugging percentage, 36 home runs, and 94 RBI.
The big question facing the Diamondbacks will be their starting rotation. Right-handed ace Zac Gallen is a solid anchor and Cy Young candidate, while Merrill Kelly proved to be a solid number two last season with a 3.37 ERA over 200 1/3 innings.
Unfortunately, that is where the optimism stops, and the question marks begin for the Arizona rotation. A combination of veteran Madison Bumgarner, right-hander Ryne Nelson, and 25-year-old Drey Jameson is currently set to start the year on the mound for the Diamondbacks.
The 2023 season will be another rebuilding year in Arizona, but they expect to see meaningful strides out of their young core. Will that translate into an improvement on their 74-88 record?

Diamondbacks Top Betting Odds 2023
Diamondbacks MLB betting odds are current as of March 3, at 12:00 p.m. from Caesars Sportsbook.
- World Series Winners: (+10000)
- Win National League pennant: (+6000)
- Win NL West title: (+6000)
- Win Total: Over 75.5 (-110) | Under 75.5 (-110)
A wager on the Diamondbacks to raise any sort of banner in 2023 would be an egregious waste of funds, regardless of the betting odds. That said, it would not surprise me to see them make a back-end run at the final Wild Card spot, ultimately falling several games short.
The best bet for Arizona in 2023 is their win total since the Diamondbacks stand a decent chance of eclipsing their success from last season.

Diamondbacks Futures Bets 2023
Diamondbacks Win Over 75.5 Games (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
As mentioned above, if the Diamondbacks’ roster remains healthy, they stand a decent chance of improving on their win total from 2022.
Arizona has strong outfield depth in addition to Walker, Marte, and Josh Rojas, which should be able to provide enough offensive production to keep them in most games.
The starting rotation will keep the Diamondbacks from reaching beyond the .500 mark, but for 2023 that is a very acceptable goal for this young team.
Diamondbacks Player Prop Bets 2023
Zac Gallen: NL Cy Young Winner (+1500) at Caesars Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
Gallen finished the 2022 season with a 12-4 record and a 2.54 ERA to go with a 3.05 FIP and 0.91 WHIP. The right-hander is among the best pitchers in the game but is overlooked due to being hidden on the Diamondbacks.
Arizona’s ace posted the fifth-best K-BB% in the National League, along with the fifth-lowest SIERA.
If you want to invest in a Diamondbacks prop for the 2023 season, Gallen is definitely your best bet.
How to Bet Diamondbacks Moneylines
Moneyline bets are a simple way of wagering on MLB games. All you need to do is pick the winner of the game, and you’ll win your bet.
The odds are quite easy to understand, too. For example, if the Diamondbacks are a (-200) favorite, you would have to bet $20 to win $10. If they’re a (+200) underdog, you can win $20 off a $10 bet.
These odds will change every day depending upon the Diamondbacks’ matchup, so there’s always an opportunity for value every step of the way.
How to Bet Diamondbacks Run Line
Run Line betting is another common way to bet on MLB games, and you’re probably already familiar with it. You may know it as how much a team is “picked by" to win.
If the Diamondbacks are 1.5 run favorites over the Rockies, the Run Line would look something like this: Diamondbacks -1.5 (-200) vs Rockies +1.5 (+200).
In this scenario, the Diamondbacks would have to win by more than one run to cash your bet.
How to Bet Diamondbacks Over/Unders
If you’re unsure about the Diamondbacks’ moneyline or run line on a given day, you can still place a bet on the Over/Under — or total — in the matchup.
Sportsbooks will set a line for how many combined runs they project will be scored. From there, you can bet on the Over or Under.
For example, if you believe in the Diamondbacks’ offense and think it’ll be a high-scoring game, then you’ll want to take the Over. However, if it’s supposed to be more of a pitcher’s duel, you should go with the Under.
