Giants vs Cowboys Prediction

Last Updated: Nov 25, 2024

The middle game of the NFL’s Thanksgiving Day triple-header will see the Dallas Cowboys (4-7) host the New York Giants (2-9) at AT&T Stadium.

The Cowboys have won back-to-back games on the holiday and are riding high after upsetting the Commanders 34-26 in Washington as double-digit underdogs.

Meanwhile, the depths of the Giants’ despair grew even deeper in Sunday’s 30-7 home loss to the Buccaneers, New York’s first game since benching Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito.

Ahead of this lackluster NFC East matchup, let’s assess the latest betting odds before diving into my Giants vs Cowboys prediction and best bets for Thanksgiving 2024.

Giants vs Cowboys Odds

NFL odds are current as of Monday, Nov. 25, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Giants (+164) vs Cowboys (-198)
  • Spread: Giants +4 (-110) vs Cowboys -4 (-110)
  • Over/Under: Over 37.5 (-108) / Under 37.5 (-112)

Giants vs Cowboys Prediction

Cowboys 23, Giants 13

There will always be variance in a game involving a pair of backup quarterbacks, but the Cowboys appear to be the more cohesive squad at the moment.

Dallas’ defense is finally getting healthy, especially in the secondary. DaRon Bland made his season debut and Jourdan Lewis also returned to the lineup to face the Commanders, who didn’t have much success in the passing game beyond Terry McLaurin’s miraculous 86-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Mike Zimmer’s unit shouldn’t have as much to worry about this week, as the Giants are the NFL’s lowest-scoring team (14.8 points per game). And most of that futility came before the organization arguably downgraded at quarterback to ensure they wouldn’t have to pay Jones’ injury guarantee for the 2025 season.

DeVito didn’t offer much of a spark in his first start of the campaign, taking four sacks and throwing for 189 yards, most of which came in the second half when the game was already out of reach. He also wasn’t helped by running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., who killed a promising third-quarter drive with a red-zone fumble.

After the loss, players on both sides of the ball called the team soft and questioned Sunday’s effort, which doesn’t give me great confidence that Brian Daboll still has control of this locker room. I don’t see how he turns things around on a short week with travel.

Sportsbook Play of the Day

Giants vs Cowboys Best Bets

Cowboys -4 (-110)

I don’t see how anyone can back the Giants coming off Sunday’s no-show, especially at a number this low.

Cooper Rush looked much more comfortable in his third consecutive start, throwing for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Most importantly, he also helped the Cowboys win the turnover battle, something that had killed the team in his prior two starts.

Back Dallas to win this game by at least four points at home as one of your best NFL bets today.

Under 37.5 Points (-112)

The final score of the Cowboys-Commanders game was completely misleading, as the scoring got out of control in the fourth quarter. Dallas returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, and Washington had two touchdown drives spanning a combined 2:26.

That game was 10-9 after three quarters and mirrored the likely low-scoring environment I expect to see on Thursday. Mike McCarthy’s squad won the first meeting between these teams 20-15 on TNF in Week 4, and both starting quarterbacks were healthy for that contest.

I don’t see how we get more points this time around with DeVito and Rush under center. Take the Under or an afternoon nap.
