Vikings vs Commanders Predictions & Odds

Last Updated: Nov 3, 2022

Coming off a 34-26 win over the Arizona Cardinals, the Minnesota Vikings are rolling and have now won five straight games. The Washington Commanders have strung together a streak of their own, now winning three in a row after taking down Indianapolis 17-16 on the road last week.

Despite being 4-4 on the season, the Commanders are dead last in the NFC East, while Minnesota is 6-1, sitting comfortably atop the NFC North. Kirk Cousins and the Vikings will face off against Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders in Week 9. Carson Wentz is on injured reserve and might not be back for another month or more.

Vikings vs Commanders Odds

As of Wednesday morning, the Vikings are favored to win by 3.5 points, making it their sixth-straight game as favorites. It makes sense as Minnesota has gone from one of the more underrated teams this year, to one of the better teams in the NFL.

Despite the Commanders being at home and winning three straight games, I’m surprised the Vikings aren’t favored by a bit more in this one.

Take a look at the best Vikings odds and Commanders odds for the 2022 NFL season.

Vikings vs Commanders Implied Totals

Vikings 23.5, Commanders 20

Minnesota is averaging 24.7 points per game this year, which is good for eighth in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Commanders are averaging 17.8, the sixth-worst mark in the NFL.

Vikings vs Commanders Prediction

Vikings 27, Commanders 20

This is a great spot for the Vikings to continue their dominance and show everyone that they’re legit contenders in the NFC.

In recent years, we’ve seen Minnesota lose close games due to missed kicks, blown leads, and just never really being able to take that next step as playoff contenders. That hasn’t been the case this year.

Cousins is 15th in the league in passing yards with 1,734, and has thrown for 11 touchdowns. Dalvin Cook has been healthy and is playing great, racking up 561 rushing yards, good for ninth in the NFL among running backs.

Then there’s Justin Jefferson, who has solidified himself as one of the best wide receivers in the game. Between the offense playing this well and their defense, this Vikings team is legit.

The Commanders, on the other hand, have lost Wentz to injured reserve. Heinicke has shown a lot of promise when given opportunities and will look to build on that in a big test this week.

Washington has done a great job of spreading the ball out and getting all of their running backs and wide receivers involved, and could keep this one fairly close.

Vikings vs Commanders Bet Tips

Here are some Vikings vs Commanders betting trends to consider before placing your bets:

  • The Vikings are 3-4 against the spread this year.
  • The total has gone Over in six of the last seven games between these two teams.
  • The total has gone Over in 10 of Minnesota’s last 14 road games.

Vikings vs Commanders Best Bets

Vikings -3.5 (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

You aren’t going to get a ton of value when taking the Vikings to win outright in this one, but it’s one of my best bets of the week. Washington has shown some promise at times and has a fun storyline with Heinicke, but Minnesota is the real deal. The Vikings have also won eight of their previous 11 games in November.

At this point, Minnesota is looking like a team that can put up a fight against the Eagles, the best team in the NFC. I am taking the Vikings to win this one by at least a field goal.

You can get positive odds on them to cover by 6.5 (+310), which is one I’d wager on, but -3.5 is the safer bet and my NFL bet of the day.

Over 43.5 Total Points (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Minnesota gives up the fourth-most passing yards per game in the league at 275.6. Washington ranks in the middle of the pack in this category, so I’m expecting both quarterbacks to air it out a bit.

Washington’s pass-catchers have been solid, as Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel both have played well. Rookie Jahan Dotson has missed the last four games with a hamstring issue.

I’m expecting both teams to put up points in this one and Jefferson is due for a big game as he hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since grabbing two of them in Week 1. I’m taking the Over in this one.
