Seahawks vs Buccaneers Predictions & Odds

The Seattle Seahawks have been arguably the surprise team in the NFL this season after trading long-time quarterback Russell Wilson to Denver.

Seattle has won four straight games, including completing the sweep of the divisional opponent Cardinals with a 31-21 win last week to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Tampa Bay has been a surprise as well, but for the wrong reasons, struggling to a 4-5 start. The good news is the Bucs are still atop the NFC South after a vintage Tom Brady game-winning drive to beat the Rams 16-13, snapping their three-game losing streak.

Seahawks vs Buccaneers Prediction

Buccaneers 23, Seattle 17

Tampa Bay desperately needed a win last week, and they got the job done with a classic Tom Brady game-winning drive to move back atop the NFC South. But that doesn’t change how important this matchup against the Seahawks in Munich is.

The Bucs were expected to be among the contenders in the NFC, but have fallen well short of expectations thus far.

Tom Brady has been solid, despite the off-the-field issues, and is second in the NFL with 2,547 passing yards. Unfortunately for the Bucs, it’s been out of necessity as they boast a historically bad rushing attack.

Tampa Bay is last in the NFL with just 60.7 rushing yards per game. If the season ended today, that would be the lowest mark since 1970. Leonard Fournette has handled a majority of the work (405 yards, two touchdowns), but look for the Bucs to try to get rookie Rachaad White more involved moving forward.

Seattle’s offense has been a surprise, led by journeyman quarterback Geno Smith. Smith was thought to be a bridge between Russell Wilson and the future of the franchise, but he may be playing himself into a starting role, either in Seattle or elsewhere.

Smith is top 10 in the NFL in passing yards (2,199), passing touchdowns (15), interceptions (four), and QBR (68.1).

Rookie running back Kenneth Walker III — now the favorite to take home NFL Rookie of the Year — has led the rushing attack after the injury to Rashaad Penny. Walker has 570 yards and seven touchdowns on the season, almost all of which have come in the last five games.

The advantage for the Bucs in this game will be on stopping, or at least slowing down, Walker and the Seattle rushing attack.

The Bucs’ front seven is regarded as one of the best in the league, but they’ve had issues of their own this season. If the Bucs can tighten up on the defensive end and keep Walker in check, it’ll be difficult for the Seahawks to keep the pace with Brady.

Seahawks vs Buccaneers Bet Tips

Here are some Seahawks vs Buccaneers betting trends to consider before placing your bets:

  • Seattle is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games.
  • The total has gone Over in five of Seattle’s last seven games.
  • Tampa Bay is 0-6-1 ATS in their last seven games.
  • The total has gone Under in four of Tampa Bay’s last five games.

Seahawks vs Buccaneers Best Bets

Under 45.5 Total Points (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

It’s been difficult for teams who play abroad to find an offensive rhythm, and six of the last 10 international games have gone Under.

The Bucs’ offense has struggled all season long, even in America. They haven’t been able to run the ball effectively, and they’ve been forced to settle for field goals.

Seattle’s offense will struggle to get the ball going against the Bucs’ defense, and this total stays Under in a low-scoring, grind-it-out game.

Buccaneers -2.5 (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

The Bucs finally snapped their losing streak and very well could have saved their season with a win over the Rams. I expect them to build on that this week and beat the Seahawks.

The Tampa Bay defense continues to get healthy — safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is expected to return from injury — and after a sluggish start, his value can’t be understated.

Tom Brady has another solid outing and the Bucs’ offense continues to lean on the passing attack to get the win.
