Saints vs 49ers Predictions & Odds

Last Updated: Nov 22, 2022

The New Orleans Saints (4-7) head west to face the surging San Francisco 49ers (6-4) at Levi’s Stadium for a Week 12 NFC clash on Sunday afternoon.

Both clubs are coming off Week 11 victories. New Orleans was able to upend the visiting Los Angeles Rams by a 27-20 score, while San Francisco recorded a 38-10 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico City on Monday night.

Let’s dive into our New Orleans vs San Francisco best bets, predictions, and betting tips for Sunday’s showdown.

Saints vs 49ers Odds

The 49ers’ status as 9.5-point home favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook as of Tuesday, Nov. 22, isn’t surprising in the least.

The projected total of 43.5 points implies oddsmakers expect San Fran’s defense to impose its will on what has been an average Saints offense under Andy Dalton, despite a strong Week 10 showing.

Take a look at the best Saints odds and 49ers odds for the 2022 NFL season.

Saints vs 49ers Implied Totals

49ers 26.5, Saints 17

Oddsmakers seem to expect another strong day for the improving, weapon-filled 49ers offense and a mostly stagnant one for the Saints offense.

Saints vs 49ers Prediction

49ers 31, Saints 17

As the 49ers demonstrated in their Monday night shellacking of the Cardinals, San Francisco looks like a team that will be playing its best football down the stretch.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan is in the enviable position of having a plethora of weapons to attack with now that Christian McCaffrey is in the fold and Elijah Mitchell is fully healthy.

All of that is very foreboding for a Saints defense that was arguably fortunate Matthew Stafford was knocked out of the Week 11 clash, as the veteran quarterback was essentially picking his spots when he was in the game.

The fact New Orleans played without starting defensive ends Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport — as well as Pete Werner and Marshon Lattimore — naturally played a big part. However, all four players could conceivably miss this game as well.

Jimmy Garoppolo is a quarterback that can certainly be pressured into mistakes, but that’s not likely to happen often, given his line has allowed only 18 sacks all season and the Saints could be down at least one of their two standout pass rushers.

Factoring in that San Francisco’s excellent defense could potentially set up short fields for the talent-rich offense, and we have a scenario where I see the 49ers eventually pulling away by double digits with a strong second half.

Saints vs 49ers Bet Tips

Here are a few Saints vs 49ers betting trends to consider before making your bets:

  • The Saints are 4-7 against the spread, including 0-4 as an away team and 3-4 against NFC opponents.
  • The 49ers are 5-5 against the spread, including 2-2 as a home team and 5-2 against NFC foes.
  • San Francisco is 26-21 ATS after a win but just 19-24-1 as a home team following a win since Kyle Shanahan became head coach in 2017.

Saints vs 49ers Best Bets

49ers -9.5 (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

As detailed, the 49ers should be able to overwhelm what could still be a notably short-handed Saints defense with San Francisco’s impressive collection of skill-position assets. Meanwhile, an aggressive Niners pass rush will make life difficult on Dalton, setting up the double-digit win.

49ers 2H -4.5 & 49ers Over 13.5 2H points (+134) at FanDuel

WAGER: 1 Unit

The Niners have the ability to progressively pull away from opponents. San Francisco is averaging 18 points per second half over the last three, and New Orleans ranks near the bottom of the league with 11.6 second-half points allowed on the road, which fuels my willingness to consider this same-game parlay at a nice price.
