Jets vs Dolphins Predictions Week 15 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Dec 17, 2021

Live from Miami, Florida, we have a battle of two AFC East teams with losing records; the 6-7 Miami Dolphins and 3-10 New York Jets.

While the Dolphins have certainly underperformed compared to preseason expectations, at least they’re playing better with five straight wins before last week’s bye.

The Jets, on the other hand, have been a travesty. They’re not quite in Jacksonville Jaguars or Detroit Lions territory, but they’re close.

This may not be the most exciting game on the Week 15 slate, but there are still opportunities to make some money here. Let’s explore with our Jets vs Dolphins predictions and best bets.

Please note that all NFL Week 15 odds and lines are current as of 6 PM EST on Friday, December 17.

Jets vs Dolphins Prediction

These two teams squared off back on November 21 with the Dolphins pulling out a close win on the road, 24-17.

At least this time around, the Jets won’t be starting Joe Flacco. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson is back under center after missing several games due to injury, although his results continue to be mixed.

Look for Wilson to struggle against a white-hot and well-rested Miami defense that’s allowed just 11 points per game during its five-game winning streak.

Wilson has a tendency to get flustered in the pocket and try to do too much, which will ultimately be his downfall in this game. The Dolphins will get intricate on defense and likely pick Wilson off at least once, as he’s thrown 11 interceptions against just six touchdowns in nine games this season.

Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa and Miami’s offense shouldn’t have much trouble scoring on the NFL’s worst defense in terms of points allowed (30.5 per game).

With the Dolphins at home and coming off a bye, expect a more lopsided loss for the Jets than last time.

Prediction: Dolphins 21, Jets 9

Jets vs Dolphins Best Bets

Best Bet: Dolphins -9.5 (-110) at TwinSpires

Wager: 1 Unit

At this point, there aren’t many circumstances where I’m taking New York with the points, especially against a Miami defense that will wreak havoc on a rookie signal-caller.

It’s getting overlooked, but Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has played quite well this season, ranking 10th in PFF grade in the passing department among quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks.

Part of what’s holding Tagovailoa back is his offensive line, which is one of the worst in the league. This pressures Tua into short, easy throws, but also limits his turnovers.

The Dolphins don’t have a ton of offensive punch, but that’s okay as their defense won’t need a lot of points behind them to shut down the Jets and cover the spread for our NFL bet of the day. Don’t be surprised if Miami’s defense scores, too.

Best Bet: Under 41 Total Points (-109) at TwinSpires

Wager: 1 Unit

With the juice advantage at -109 on our NFL gameday odds, the Under seems like a plausible play here between two of the NFL’s weaker offenses.

Miami’s defense potentially scoring could pose a problem for this wager, but New York will still struggle to score regardless, especially on the road. The Jets are averaging just 17.4 points per game (29th), while the Dolphins aren’t much better at 19.5 points per game (25th).

Expect a low-scoring, defensive struggle with slow, drawn-out drives — a perfect recipe for the Under.
