Best Lions vs. Buccaneers Divisional Round Prop Bets To Make Now
- Load more
Lions vs. Buccaneers might be the hardest of the four NFL Divisional Round games to handicap, despite the large NFL betting spread (Detroit -6.5).
The reason for that is that both of these two teams have showed weakness on the defensive front at times this season, while showing some impressive offensive ability as well.
At the core of this matchup lies how Tampa Bay’s defense, led by HC Todd Bowles, will attempt to stop OC wunderkind Ben Johnson‘s high-flying offense that features numerous weapons.
These two teams met in Week 6 of the regular season and the Lions triumphed, 20-6.
Both teams have come a long way since then. Baker Mayfield has gone from a probable bridge quarterback to whatever QB of the future that Tampa Bay would draft, to a possible franchise option as he has truly progressed into a stable force of this team.
On the other side, Jared Goff has led a unit that ranked third in total offense this regular season and now hopes to make a deep playoff run.
It all makes for an intriguing game for NFL prop betting.

Best Lions vs. Buccaneers Player Prop Bets
Sam LaPorta

I’m going to target wide receivers for longest reception plays most of the time, but in this case, we’re getting a nice number on a player that’s hit this line in 11/17 games this season.
LaPorta wasn’t expected to play in the opening playoff game, but he grinded hard and got back to practice in time to suit up against the Rams in the Wild Card game, scoring a touchdown on a few catches.
He definitely looked a bit limited out there after suffering the hyperextended knee and bone bruise in Week 18.
The good news is that he finished the game and now should be able to put in a mostly full week of practice leading up to the game against the Buccaneers this week.
The Buccaneers have not been the strongest defense against tight ends this season, allowing the third-most yards per game vs the position.
The Lions should implement a pretty vertical offense against them, given that they’ll be safely in a dome.
One last thing of note: The Buccaneers blitz at an extremely high level. Back in the first matchup against Detroit this season, they blitzed Jared Goff at a 41% clip, and he threw for nearly 200 yards and two touchdowns against extra pressure.
Baker Mayfield
FanDuel Sportsbook • 1 Unit
Mayfield has surprisingly came alive in the second half of the season. He’s thrown for at least two passing touchdowns in five of his last six games, including a three touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
The Lions have similar passing defense deficiencies to the Eagles, and allowed 2+ passing touchdowns in ten of their 17 regular season bouts. They didn’t allow a single touchdown to the Buccaneers when they first faced off, but I am betting that things might be a little different this time.
You’re getting a great number from here, so definitely jump on this line ASAP.
Best Lions vs. Buccaneers Team Prop Bets
Successful Two-Point Conversion:
DraftKings Sportsbook • 1 Unit
This is an intriguing play here, given that we know who we’re dealing with in Lions’ HC Dan Campbell. Campbell is extremely aggressive and ranked in the top-five of teams this season with regards to two-point conversion attempts.
The Lions are very well set up for a prop like this, but so are the Buccaneers, who rank league average in two-point conversion attempts and could very well get sneaky here against an ultra-aggressive team like the Lions.
First Sack Recorded:
DraftKings Sportsbook • 1 Unit
This play is based on one main stat: the Buccaneers are one of the heaviest blitzing teams in the NFL this season, ranking third-highest with a blitz percentage of 40.1%.
It doesn’t always work out for them, as Goff is extremely adept at throwing against the blitz, but every so often, one of those blitzes is going to hit home.
The Lions boost a very solid defensive line of their own and have shown to be able to get to the quarterback, but what if the Buccaneers go extremely aggressive on their first defensive drive to try and disrupt the Lions’ pace?
We could definitely see Goff go down as he’s not the most mobile pocket navigator.
