Aside from the Florida Panthers’ 8-5 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, Monday night’s NHL slate was relatively low-scoring.
Eight of the 12 teams in action scored three or fewer goals, and three were held to a single tally.
Hopefully, Tuesday’s eight-game slate will have a little more juice, as I pick out my best NHL goalscorer bets today.
NHL Goalscorer Predictions Today
All hockey odds used for these NHL goalscorer predictions today are current as of Tuesday, Nov. 18, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
William Nylander: Anytime Goalscorer (+145) vs Blues
The Toronto Maple Leafs enter play Tuesday on a five-game losing skid, but they’ve got a good chance to snap that streak at home against a St. Louis Blues team that allows a league-high 3.84 goals per game.
Nylander, who has posted three consecutive 40-goal seasons, is off to a solid start this campaign, scoring eight times in 16 contests.
The 29-year-old is scoreless in his last three outings, matching his longest goalless streak of the season.
Toronto needs someone to step up with Auston Matthews (lower-body injury) out, and I like Nylander to do so with a key goal tonight, making this my NHL pick of the day.
Connor Bedard: First Goalscorer (+1000) vs Flames
NHL first goalscorer stats require some digging through box scores, but a look through the statsheets will tell you that three of Bedard’s 10 goals this season have been the first goal of the game.
Chicago’s leading scorer has found the back of the net in four of his last five outings, and two of those strikes broke the game’s 0-0 deadlock.
The Blackhawks have tended to start fast this season, scoring first in 13 of their 18 games, and I expect that trend to continue at home Tuesday against a Calgary Flames team with the fewest points in the league (13).
Bedard scored in a 4-0 win over Calgary on Nov. 7, and he feels like the most likely candidate to score first in this matchup, especially with second-leading scorer Tyler Bertuzzi (undisclosed injury) trending toward missing a second straight game.
Macklin Celebrini: Anytime Goalscorer (+160) vs Mammoth
For my other NHL anytime goalscorer prop, I’m targeting San Jose Sharks star Macklin Celebrini.
The first overall pick of the 2024 NHL draft leads his team with 10 goals, eight of which have come in San Jose victories. The Sharks are slight home underdogs tonight against the Mammoth, but Utah is playing the second night of a back-to-back with travel.
I like the hosts to win this one, and for Celebrini to snap his three-game goalless drought, which matches his longest of the campaign.
