The 3-1 Cleveland Browns visit the 3-1 Los Angeles Chargers this week as Baker Mayfield will attempt to keep up with Justin Herbert‘s high-powered Chargers offense. Though the Browns are actually averaging more points per game than the Chargers through four weeks, this is a prototypical battle of offense (Chargers) versus defense (Browns).
This matchup between two AFC powerhouses presents plenty of betting opportunities, so let’s dive into some Browns vs Chargers prop bets that could lead us to the promised land in our NFL prop predictions and picks series.

Browns vs Chargers Week 5 Player Prop Bets
Baker Mayfield Over 219.5 Passing Yards (-114) at FanDuel
While Mayfield is dealing with a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, he’s still been able to put up 935 passing yards through four games despite missing his security blanket in Jarvis Landry. Odell Beckham Jr. is healthy again, however, and Kareem Hunt has been one of the league’s best pass-catching backs to start the season.
The Chargers have been strong against the pass this season, but their solid numbers (192.5 passing yards allowed per game) are a bit skewed by the measly 122 yards Taylor Heinicke put up against them two weeks ago.
Though 220 passing yards may sound daunting against LA’s secondary, there’s a good chance Mayfield is playing catchup in this game if Cleveland’s defense is unable to contain Herbert. He should have no problem topping 220 yards for the third time this season, making this our NFL bet of the day.
Kareem Hunt Over 18.5 Receiving Yards (-115) at DraftKings
If Mayfield is going to top 220 passing yards, Hunt is going to be a big reason why. He’s seen 11 targets for Cleveland over the last two games combined and has become a solid replacement for Landry on shorter routes.
Mayfield will need to send some targets Hunt’s way if he’s going to have any chance at moving the ball through the air against a Chargers defense that ranks fourth in pass DVOA. Hunt has already topped 20 receiving yards twice this year and is a solid bet to do so again this weekend.

Austin Ekeler Under 54.5 Rushing Yards (-115) at BetMGM
Outside of a 117-yard explosion last week, Austin Ekeler has hovered right around that 55-yard mark all season in terms of rushing yards. Things are going to get a lot more difficult this week, however, as he faces a Browns defense that ranks first in rushing DVOA.
Ekeler also hasn’t carried the ball more than 15 times in a game this season, which limits his rushing ceiling. Between the matchup and his somewhat limited usage on the ground, Ekeler’s Under is a solid bet here.
Justin Herbert Under 287.5 Passing Yards (-110) at Bet365
I don’t like betting against Herbert, but the Browns’ defense is very solid against the pass (13th in pass DVOA) and has only allowed an average of 183.8 passing yards per game. While Herbert started the season on fire, he’s only thrown for 281 and 222 yards over the past two weeks. He’s certainly capable of bucking that trend, but I don’t think it will happen in Week 5.

Browns vs Chargers Week 5 Prop Bets
Total Touchdowns Under 5.5 (-140) at Caesars
Both teams are averaging over 20 points per game heading into this week, but touchdowns are going to be hard to come by with these two defenses. The Chargers are likely going to struggle to move the ball on the ground, while the Browns are likely going to struggle to move the ball through the air. That’s a great recipe for a low-scoring game, making six total touchdowns unlikely.
Los Angeles Chargers To Win By 1-6 Points (+270) at Caesars
While both teams are well-rounded and likely playoff-bound, the Chargers are the better team and are playing at home. Despite their strong defense, it’s going to be hard for Cleveland to keep pace with LA’s offense this week, especially with a banged-up Mayfield. It’s a safe bet that the Chargers are sitting at 4-1 heading into Week 6.
