Eagles vs Raiders Predictions Week 7 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Oct 24, 2021

The Philadelphia Eagles and Las Vegas Raiders have had very different seasons thus far, but they both enter their Week 7 matchup coming off of emotional games in Week 6.

Philadelphia sits at 2-3 following a close loss on Thursday Night Football last week. Their offense has really struggled, though they finally found a bit of success once they realized they could run the football. Fans cheered when the team decided to keep it on the ground since it has not been a popular play call from Nick Sirianni thus far.

Since last Thursday, the Eagles have had a leader leave and another return. Tight end Zach Ertz was traded away, while right tackle Lane Johnson has returned to the team. Johnson’s return will be massive for an offensive line that has endured season-ending injuries.

The Raiders had an emotional divisional win last week, defeating the Broncos in their first game without former coach Jon Gruden. While it wasn’t a perfect game, it must feel like a weight was lifted off the team’s shoulders, and the victory moves them to 4-2 on the season. They totaled over 400 yards of offense and forced four turnovers on the day.

Without further ado, let’s dive into our Eagles vs Raiders predictions and best bets. Please note that all odds are current as of 1:00 p.m. ET on Friday, October 22.

Eagles vs Raiders Prediction

Both of these teams have the same issue — starting slow. Las Vegas and Philadelphia both average only 8.5 first-half points per game, which is tied for the fifth-worst in the NFL.

For the Eagles, this has resulted in them playing catch-up, and we have seen them come up just short more than once. The Raiders have had more success in the comebacks, but their luck will run out at some point.

So, with that being said, both teams need to come out strong and establish themselves. The Raiders did a good job of that this past week, scoring 17 points in the first half against Denver.

When these teams do have the lead, they have played well. Both defenses have been better than most. The Eagles and Raiders are both tied for second in the NFL in yards allowed per play at only 5.1, which is reflected in the NFL gameday odds.

These teams are able to generate a pass rush and suffocate opposing offenses a bit, though they have rarely been in positions to do so.

These teams, however, are on the opposite sides of the spectrum in their running games, which would help them keep leads. The Eagles rank second in the NFL in yards per attempt, at 5.2. However, they average the fourth-fewest rushing attempts per game (22.0).

The Raiders, on the other hand, rank dead-last in rushing yards per attempt (3.3), due to the health and inability of their offensive line. With the Eagles surrendering only 4.1 yards per rush, the Raiders’ success could fall upon the shoulders of Derek Carr yet again.

Given that the Eagles allow the fourth-highest completion rate in the league (71.5%), he has a good chance to have success.

Prediction: Raiders 24, Eagles 20

Eagles vs Raiders Best Bets

Best Bet: Under 48.5 (-112) at Unibet

Wager: 1 Units

We discussed above how both of these teams start slow and have defenses capable of keeping opponents in check and limiting big plays.

For these offenses to have any kind of success, they will likely have to take a nickel-and-dime approach, as the big plays down the field will likely not be there. This leads to long, methodical drives, which take a lot of time off the clock and fewer opportunities to score.

The Under is 4-2 for the Eagles this season and 3-3 for the Raiders, though Las Vegas has had two games go to overtime.

While it’s not up in the sportsbook yet, the first half Under is also very much in play and is likely the best bet.

Best Bet: First to 30 Points: Tie (-117) at Unibet

Wager: 1 Units

In this case, a tie means neither team reaches 30 points. With both teams ranking second in yards allowed per play, the opportunity for big chunk plays doesn’t seem to be there.

Expect to see a lot of punts in this game, making this our NFL bet of the day.
