Entering an extremely important Week 3 matchup, the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons are 0-2. Only 12 percent of NFL teams that start 0-2 end up making it to the playoffs, but only 3.5 percent of teams that start 0-3 make it to the playoffs.
In their Week 1 loss against the Denver Broncos, the Giants struggled to get the ball moving on the ground. Quarterback Daniel Jones was the rushing leader for New York, despite Saquon Barkley being on the field.
In Week 2, the Giants lost to the Washington Football Team in a game that could have gone the other way if not for a few unfortunate penalties and mistakes.
The Falcons only scored 6 points in their Week 1 loss versus the Philadelphia Eagles, although they put up 25 points against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
While the Falcons have struggled to score points on offense, the defense has been the biggest problem. Atlanta has allowed a league-high 80 points in two weeks.
Let’s take a closer look to see which side to take in this matchup in the NFL pick of the day series.

Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants Prediction
The Giants and Falcons are two flawed teams that will be battling to stay relevant and competitive in their divisions. The Giants’ leading rusher after two games is their quarterback, and Daniel Jones is no Lamar Jackson. Their offensive line has given up six sacks, tied for fourth-worst in the NFL through two games.
The Falcons offense is starting to click, but the defense is struggling to stop anyone, and they have allowed eight passing touchdowns through Week 2, which is the most in the NFL.
New York is favored by 3 in this Week 3 matchup at home, but Jones and the Giants will have to win this game through the air. Despite allowing the 8th most rushing yards to opponents, the Falcons have only allowed one rushing touchdown.
This game could easily turn into a shootout if the Falcons are unable to stop the Giants’ air attack, and Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has the weapons to turn to if that happens.
Betting Pick: Giants 28, Falcons 27
Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants Best Bets
Best Bet: Falcons +3 (-115) at DraftKings
This game should be a close one until the very end. Neither team has a great defense, so both teams should put up points against each other.
Matt Ryan is still a talented quarterback and has Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts to throw to, so he should be able to keep up with the Giants.
If the Falcons are able to make a few stops, they may even be able to win this game outright, but do not count on that happening.
Take the Falcons getting the points, but if this line moves to -2.5 or lower, take the Giants instead.
Best Bet: Over 47 (-110) at BetMGM
This game has all the makings of an over as both teams have had one of their first two games this season go over 47 points.
Both teams have above-average quarterbacks and sub-par defenses, so the offenses should be able to put up points in this game.
For this over to hit, both teams will likely have to score in the mid-20s. The good news is both teams seem to have corrected some issues after low-scoring Week 1 performances.
Take the over in this game. Perhaps consider teasing the Falcons getting the points and the over to give yourself some wiggle room.
Falcons vs. Giants Same Game Parlay Pick: +256 at DraftKings
- Falcons +3 (-115) at DraftKings
- Points Total Over 47.5 (-110) at DraftKings
Combining these two bets could be the best course of action for a payday on this game. These two teams should be able to combine for at least 50 points. Each put up over 25 points in their Week 2 matchup.
Neither team will likely end up dominating on defense, so bet on the Falcons keeping it close and a barn-burner type of game.
