In Joe Judge’s first year as head coach of the Giants, the team was one bad drop by Evan Engram away from finishing 7-9 and winning the lowly NFC East. Instead, they finished at 6-10, but regardless, they did show signs of promise and improvement in Judge’s first season at the helm.
As previously mentioned, the Giants went out and put their money where their mouth was in free agency, bringing back defensive lineman Leonard Williams and signing No. 1 wide receiver Kenny Golladay and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson to substantial contracts. They also drafted versatile wideout Kadarius Toney with their first pick and selected Georgia edge rusher Azeez Ojulari in the second round.
With a better roster and a sound coaching staff, it is fair to anticipate the Giants going over the 7.5 win mark in 2021-22, as they are expected to take a big jump next season.
Giants Prop Bets 2021: Player Bet Picks
Daniel Jones Over 3,800.5 Passing Yards (-124)
It is no secret that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is entering a pivotal season in his third year in the NFL. After a promising rookie year, Jones had a down sophomore campaign in his first year in Jason Garrett’s system. He was also slowed by a hamstring injury down the stretch of the season, which took away a big part of his game as a runner.
In his rookie season, Jones threw for 3,027 yards and 24 touchdowns in 12 games as the starter. But last year, Jones threw for only 2,943 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games, and he did not look like the same passer in Garrett’s conservative system.
Now, Jones is healthy, and the Giants went out and added a number of weapons for him in Kenny Golladay, Kyle Rudolph and rookie Kadarius Toney, who will join Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Evan Engram on a stacked offense, which should open up the deep passing attack in the playbook. Jones will also have his star running back once again in Saquon Barkley who missed all but two games with a torn ACL last season.
It will be interesting to see how Jones adjusts in Garrett’s system for the second time around. But with a now loaded offense, which has tons of talent in the passing game, it would be wise to take the over on Jones eclipsing over 3,800.5 yards.
Saquon Barkley Over 1,175.5 Rushing Yards (+100)
Giants star running back Saquon Barkley is coming back from a torn ACL, which caused him to miss 14 games last season. He’s admittedly been hesitant to commit to being ready for Week 1 this year, but that doesn’t mean you should count him out.
In all likelihood, Barkley will make his presumptuous return to the Giants in September and will be playing on an offense that is now loaded with talent. If he stays healthy, Barkley should be primed for a huge year behind a much-improved offensive line that helped backup Wayne Gallman rush for 682 yards and six touchdowns last season.
In Barkley’s lone healthy season in 2018, the 24-year-old rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns. If he can make it for a full 17-game schedule this year, and proves to be the Barkley of old, he will easily hit the over set at 1,175.5 rushing yards.
Kenny Golladay Over 1,050.5 Receiving Yards (-112)
Newcomer Kenny Golladay signed a huge four-year, $72 million deal with the Giants in free agency. Now, he is coming in as the unanimous No. 1 wide receiver to provide a big boost to an offense that ranked among the league’s worst in 2020.
Golladay is coming off an injury-plagued season of his own in 2020, which saw him miss 11 games with a hip flexor issue. But he is once again healthy, and the hope is that he can transform Garrett’s conservative offense into a system that will stretch the field.
When healthy, Golladay proved to be a top receiver in the NFL, recording over 65 receptions and 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons in 2018-19. He also led the league with 11 touchdowns in 2019. In both of these stellar campaigns, Golladay surpassed 1,050.5 yards, and you can expect him to do the same as the top target on the Giants’ offense in 2021-22.
