CFB Props Week 2

Last Updated: Sep 8, 2023

The second week of the college football season is underway, and there are plenty of enticing matchups to watch over the weekend. We had a handful of exciting games in Week 1 and the hope is that there will be more to come in Week 2.

With most teams now playing at least one game, we have more information to go off of when wagering on team and player props. Taking that into account, let’s take a look at our favorite game and player props for Week 2 of the college football season.

CFB Week 2 Best Props

Maryland: Over 37.5 Points (-125)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Maryland opened the season with a lopsided 38-6 win over Towson at home in Week 1. Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was efficient in the victory against Towson, completing 22 of his 33 attempts for 260 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 28 yards and another score.

Maryland’s offense found its rhythm early in last week’s win, totaling 449 yards and notching 30 first downs. Charlotte, who Maryland will host in Week 2, allowed a whopping 39.3 points per game in 2022.

The Terrapins are entering as 24.5-point favorites and could quickly put up 40-plus on the 49ers on Saturday, making this my CFB bet of the day.

Alabama: Over 3.5 Touchdowns (-145)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

One of the most anticipated matchups of Week 2 will come on Saturday when Texas travels to face Alabama in a hostile environment. Coach Nick Saban will take on one of his former assistants, Steve Sarkisian, who is looking to alter the narrative that Saban’s former assistants struggle when facing him.

This is more of a statement game for the Crimson Tide than the Longhorns. Alabama is trying to make it known that it is still a force to be reckoned with in college football.

They got off to a blazing start in Week 1, winning 56-7 over Middle Tennessee as quarterback Jalen Milroe contributed 242 yards of offense and five touchdowns.

Milroe and Alabama’s offense will face tougher competition this week, but the Crimson Tide can certainly still find the end zone four times against the Longhorns at home. This is one of our top CFB betting tips for Week 2.

CFB Week 2 Player Props

Will Rogers: Over 265.5 Passing Yards (-115)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

In Week 1 versus Southeastern Louisiana, Mississippi State didn’t need quarterback Will Rogers to do much in a 48-7 win at home. He completed 20 of his 29 attempts for 227 yards and two touchdowns as Southeastern Louisiana did a formidable job limiting the deep shots for Mississippi State.

The good news for Rogers is he’ll get an Arizona squad in Week 2 that surrendered 270.8 passing yards per game a season ago. On top of that, Rogers eclipsed 266 passing yards in seven of his 13 starts in 2022, and in all 13 of his starts in 2021.

When Rogers took on Arizona in 2022, he aired it out for 313 yards and four touchdowns. We don’t need the senior quarterback to throw for more than 300 yards again in Week 2, however, he could be in store for his first 300-yard outing of the season on Saturday.

Dylan Edwards: Anytime TD Scorer (-125)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Colorado was one of the biggest surprises in Week 1, going on the road and pulling off an upset over TCU in Deion Sanders‘ debut as head coach.

While quarterback Shedeur Sanders understandably stole the show with his performance under center, running back Dylan Edwards was masterful in the victory.

The freshman running back was deployed as a versatile weapon in Week 1, registering five receptions, 135 receiving yards, three receiving touchdowns, 24 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown on six attempts.

After notching 45 points against TCU, Colorado will go up against a stingy Nebraska defense that held Minnesota to 13 points in Week 1.

That said, Colorado’s offense looks extremely dynamic, and it’s tough to see Edwards being held out of the end zone with how he’s being utilized, which is why this is one of my favorite CFB props for Week 2.
