Seton Hall vs TCU Predictions | Best Bets & Odds

Last Updated: Mar 18, 2022

The TCU Horned Frogs landed the No. 9 seed in the South Region, where they’ll face the No. 8-seeded Seton Hall Pirates. The winner of this game will likely take on No. 1 seed Arizona in the Round of 32.

This isn’t a favorable spot for either team, but at least they’ll have a chance to win one game in the tournament.

Seton Hall vs TCU Prediction

The TCU Horned Frogs have been dominant on the offensive glass this season, earning 37.9 percent of offensive rebounds. Those rebounds have been crucial with TCU turning the ball over 21.6 percent of the time.

The Horned Frogs also don’t shoot lights out, hitting just 30.4 percent from deep and 50.5 percent from inside the arc. Again, it’s the second chances on the offensive end for TCU that allow the Horned Frogs to stick around.

Meanwhile, Seton Hall is holding teams to 31 percent from deep and 44.8 percent from inside the arc this season. It’s always hard for opponents to get good looks against Seton Hall, but never hard for teams to grab offensive rebounds. Therefore, it does seem like TCU could win the offensive rebounding battle in this game.

Seton Hall’s offense isn’t all that great, either, hitting just 33.3 percent from deep and 46.2 percent from inside the arc this season. The Pirates have limited turnovers to 17.5 percent and grab 32.7 percent offensive rebounds, but TCU won’t really allow a high amount of offensive rebounds.

Instead, TCU has been dominant on the defensive end, holding opponents to 31.5 percent from deep and 47.9 percent from inside the arc. The Horned Frogs have three players that are in the top 500 in block percentage and Seton Hall has been getting blocked on 11 percent of its shots.

Seton Hall vs TCU Score Pick

TCU 63, Seton Hall 60

Both defenses are among the NCAA’s top 30 via KenPom. TCU’s offense is slow and methodical, and when they grab an offensive rebound, they sometimes use another 20 seconds of the shot clock.

On the other hand, Seton Hall’s offense has really struggled inside and continues to put up bad shots that get blocked by opponents. This is a poor matchup for Seton Hall in that regard.

Points will be hard to come by and TCU will eventually escape and win this game.

Seton Hall vs TCU Best Bets

TCU +1 (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

The Pirates and Horned Frogs are both terrific defenses. But only TCU can earn more second chances on the offensive end. On the defensive side of things, TCU allows just 26.1 percent offensive rebounds and is consistent on the defensive end in almost all categories except forcing turnovers.

TCU barely shoots threes, so despite the Horned Frogs shooting 30.4 percent from downtown, it’s not that big of a deal. Instead, TCU shoots above average inside, at 50.5 percent. It’s good to know that TCU can score inside against Seton Hall and work the glass hard.

UNDER 130 (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

The first team to 60 might win this game. Again, both teams have really made it difficult for opponents to shoot. TCU has a defensive efficiency that ranks 24th in the nation via KenPom, while Seton Hall ranks 26th in the category.

Again, TCU also runs slowly on the offensive end and would rather set up and play in the halfcourt. They’re never in a rush and actually like slower games because they allow them to control the glass effectively. Therefore, the Under is the play in this game.
