There is still little known about which companies will be looking for partnerships, and which locations are in talks with them. What we do know is that three of the four indigenous tribes have agreed to a partnership with Caesars Sportsbooks.

The rest is wide open in Maine.

November is closer than you think, which means it is time to brush up on what has happened in Maine sports betting up until now.

Sports betting was legalized in Maine in May 2022. The next step(s) were regarding legislation on how the incoming sportsbooks would be run, operated, and under what guidelines.

When Will Sports Betting Launch in Maine?

Retail sportsbooks are tentatively scheduled to go live November 2023, with the latest expected start date to be November 10. Mobile sports betting is also expected to launch in November, but towards the end of the month.

The online delay is expected because Gov. Mills and others want to make sure its rollout has a few snafus as possible. Launching brick and mortar and mobile at the same time can cause issues.

What Sportsbooks are Available in Maine?

As of now, none, but Caesars Sportsbooks has agreed to a partnership with three of the four indigenous tribes that constitutes the Wakanabi Nation - the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Mi’kmaq Nation, and the Penobscot Nation. The only tribe without an agreement is the Passamaquoddy.
