Argentina vs France Predictions | World Cup Final Best Bets

Last Updated: Dec 18, 2022

After a World Cup full of upsets, the Final will be played by two of the favorites leading into the tournament: Argentina and France.

Les Bleus are looking to be the first back-to-back World Cup champion since Brazil in 1962, and Lionel Messi is trying to cement himself as one of the greatest footballers of all time with a World Cup title to his name.

Messi has said this is his last World Cup, and it has almost felt like this is his World Cup to lose, even though the Albiceleste lost their opening-round match against Saudi Arabia.

Can France repeat as champions led by scoring powerhouse Kylian Mbappé? Will Argentina finally get Messi a World Cup?

Let’s dive into the Argentina vs France odds, best bets, and props for the 2022 World Cup Final.

Argentina vs France Odds

  • 3-Way Handicap: France (+175) | Draw (+200) | Argentina (+175)
  • Draw No Bet: France (-120) | Argentina (-110)
  • Over/Under Goals: Over 2.5 (+145) | Under 2.5 (-185)
  • Both Teams to Score: Yes (+105) | No (-135)
  • To Lift the Cup: France (-110) | Argentina (-110)

Argentina vs France odds are current as of 11 a.m. EST on Dec. 15 at Caesars Sportsbook.

This is the most balanced game of the tournament when it comes to the odds. There is no favorite to win in regulation and both nations have the same odds to lift the cup.

It is interesting that the oddsmakers think it will be a low-scoring game with the under 2.5 total goals at -185.

Argentina vs France Prediction

Argentina 2-1 France (AET)

This game is way too close to call, and I don’t think there will be a champion at the end of 90 minutes. However, Argentina have been in that position before when they went into extra time against Germany during the 2014 Final before losing to a late goal from Mario Götze.

Argentina is ranked 3rd in the FIFA World Rankings, and France is behind them in 4th.

Argentina vs France Betting Tips

One can argue that France has been better in this tournament, with their only loss coming against Tunisia in a match where Les Bleus rested six of their starters, but Argentina have all the momentum right now.

Despite the shutout win against Morocco, France were outplayed in that second half and came close to conceding on numerous occasions. On the other hand, Argentina were dominant for 90 minutes against Croatia en route to their 3-0 victory.

The changes Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni made after their first loss to Saudi Arabia have been immense and is why Argentina have made it to the final. Julian Álvarez has produced as the number 9, and both Enzo Fernández and Alexis MacAllister have been excellent in the midfield.

Antoine Griezmann seems to have turned back the clock and is playing at the level he was in 2018. He surpassed Messi in the Semifinal game for most chances created at the World Cup, with now 21 this tournament.

The race for the Golden Boot will come down to this match as both Messi and Mbappé are tied with five goals. Álvarez and Olivier Giroud are right behind them tied with four goals a piece as well.

The critical factor in this match could be Hugo Lloris, who has been lights-out at this tournament.

France’s keeper made his World Cup debut in 2008 and has been a stalwart in this French side. Lloris was fantastic in 2018 and has made crucial saves in this tournament.

We recently saw elite goalkeeper performances at the World Cup final in Manuel Neuer and Iker Casillas. Lloris could have the final say in this match and be the difference-maker in an otherwise balanced matchup.

Before France’s win in 2018, the previous three World Cup Finals went into extra time, and this match forecasts to go beyond 90 minutes.

Argentina vs France Best Bets

Both Teams to Score: Yes (+105) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Argentina failed to get on the scoresheet in the last two World Cup Finals they played in 2014 and 1990. This is Messi’s final World Cup, and it’s tough to see them get shut out in this contest.

However, France’s attack has been very efficient and technical, and with Mbappé’s pace, they will get on the scoresheet in this match. Take the plus odds on both teams to score.

Argentina Wins World Cup (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

As cliché as it sounds, the stars seem to be aligned for Messi to go into the sunset as a World Cup champion cementing him amongst the greatest of all time.

The Argentine defense have only conceded two goals, both against the Netherlands, since they gave up two to Saudi Arabia in the first match of the tournament. This is a stout defense and will be able to contain the French attack.

As a result, they will come out on top after a very close battle.
