ThriveFantasy Review and Bonus

EDITOR'S OPINION

ThriveFantasy is a player prop-based DFS platform that provides an alternative approach to playing Daily Fantasy Sports compared to your standard salary cap formats.

While your traditional DFS platforms are much more difficult to win at for the new user, ThriveFantasy is catered to everyone, especially newcomers with their simplistic prop-based contests.

ThriveFantasy Hands-on Review

ThriveFantasy is owned and operated by Adam Weinstein. Founded in 2016 in New York, New York, ThriveFantasy is one of the more unique DFS platforms in the industry with its Player Prop-based games and contests.

While ThriveFantasy isn’t as well-known as DraftKings or FanDuel, they’ve already partnered with two NFL teams in the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s also fully operational in over 30 states, which are listed at the bottom of this review.

What Is ThriveFantasy?

ThriveFantasy is a Player Prop-based DFS platform that caters to everyone. While your traditional DFS platforms are salary cap-based and full of sharks, ThriveFantasy focuses on player props utilizing the top-tier players throughout the major sports markets.

While it takes a lot of research and luck to crack contests at their competitors, you only need to know the top players and everyday stats you’d find on the back of a trading card at ThirveFantasy. There is no need to research an NFL running back’s red zone usage or an MLB Pitcher’s WHIP rate.

ThriveFantasy is for the everyday fan and in this relaxed environment, everyone can play and win.

How Does ThriveFantasy Work?

ThriveFantasy is easy to join and even easier to play. While you will need to know most of the fantasy-relevant players at competitive DFS platforms, at ThriveFantasy there are only 20 players to choose from in the player pool to build your proverbial lineup from.

You will pick 10 of those players to build your lineup as well as two reserves to play in case any of your original players are unable to suit up due to injury, weather, etc.

Once you choose the contest, game type, and build your lineup, you accumulate points by correctly choosing the right side of the prop bet assigned to your preferred players. This type of game is called “Traditional.”

  • For example, if Ezekiel Elliott’s rushing yards total is 89.5, you will pick Over or Under that total depending on how you think Elliott will perform in his game. There is a predetermined points amount slated to either side with both adding up to 200, so the Over might be 105 and the Under might be 95. If you pick the right outcome, those predetermined points will be allocated to your overall total.

Another type of contest at ThriveFantasy is called “Versus.” Essentially, this is Player versus Player in different statistical categories.

  • For example, you might find Aaron Rodgers versus Josh Allen’s passing touchdowns total. You will choose which player you believe will throw for more scores and get points if you choose the right player.

ThriveFantasy Signup Bonus

If you are a new user at ThriveFantasy, you will qualify for their new-user sign-up bonus when you make your first deposit, which we’ll describe in more detail below.

ThriveFantasy Deposit Bonus

New users at ThriveFantasy can receive a first-time deposit bonus match of 100% up to $100. So if your first deposit is $100, you’ll have $200 to start with. The bonus offer is only available to new users and includes a 4x playthrough requirement.

ThriveFantasy No-Deposit Bonus

A no-deposit bonus is offered by some DFS sites just for signing up. Usually, the amount is small compared to a first deposit bonus with an average of around $5-$10. At this time, ThriveFantasy is not offering a no-deposit bonus, but it may be an offer they consider in the future.

ThriveFantasy Risk-Free Bet

A risk-free bet is a special offer where your first contest would be refunded in the form of site credit or free play if you do not win. At this time, ThriveFantasy is not offering any risk-free play.

ThriveFantasy Promotions

Aside from ThriveFantasy’s new-user sign-up bonus, they do not offer any other promotions regularly but may expand their list of exciting offers and promos in the future as they continue to grow in this highly competitive DFS market. Be sure to follow them on social media or join their email list, as they do feature promotions every now and then for current clients.

While these are few and far between, you should still keep your eyes peeled for them. Who doesn’t like free money?

My ThriveFantasy App Experience

To download the ThriveFantasy app, all you have to do is enter the App Store on your iOS device or the Google App Store for any Android device, search for “ThriveFantasy”, and download the app.

Once the app is downloaded, you will be asked to sign up or sign in. It will then verify your location to protect the company and the user’s security and safety. Once you are in the app, you will see that it is just as aesthetically pleasing and easy to use as the desktop version.

Upon signing in, the app will open to the main lobby, which is where you will find the most popular contests of the day. You will have the option to filter the contests so it caters to your preferences. If you only want football and basketball, filtering other active sports out is a breeze. You can also filter the types of contests as well as entry fee amounts and prize amounts.

At the top left-hand side of the home page you will see a “House Props” button. If you hit that button, it will take you to the “Prop Lobby” so you can play the ThriveFantasy prop multiplier contest, which I explain later in this review.

On the top right-hand side of the home page you will find your wallet which shows you how much money you have in your account. If you click on the wallet or deposit button, you will be taken to the banking screen where you can deposit or withdraw funds.

Across the bottom of the app, you will find a menu with the following options:

  • Lobby
  • Contests
  • Live
  • Notifications
  • Settings

ThriveFantasy provides a fast and high-quality app that anyone can get the hang of quickly. There is very little clutter and no advertisements that will pop up and bother you.

Is ThriveFantasy Legit?

Yes, ThriveFantasy is legal and legit. As long as you are playing within state lines where ThriveFantasy is operational, you can win real money at ThriveFantasy.

Should You Play at ThriveFantasy?

Yes! Whether you are new to DFS or an established player, ThriveFantasy has something for everyone. As mentioned above, ThriveFantasy caters more towards the casual player so that everyone has a chance to win. As a result, it is very hard to gain an edge at ThriveFantasy.

Everyone has access to the major players in the major sports and the major stats. You don’t need a premium subscription to give you an edge at ThriveFantasy. You just need to do a few minutes of research, if that.

While there aren’t as many contest types and sports at ThriveFantasy that you will find elsewhere, their contests are very cut and dry. Again, another advantage to the casual player.

In addition to their Head-to-Head contests, ThriveFantasy also features GPP tournaments, which is one thing they do have in common with the larger DFS sites. You can still take down a large GPP player pool and take home a significant sum of cash.

If you are a new player or have not had much luck with salary cap DFS, then you should certainly give ThriveFantasy a shot. You may find yourself much more successful playing Player Prop contests instead of salary cap contests.

At worst, you should sign up and take advantage of the new-user welcome bonus. If you don’t like it, you can always cash out after you play through your bonus funds.

Bets/Games You Can Make/Play

Traditional

Users will compete in contest pools against other users. There are two types of Traditional Contests — cash and GPP. In cash games, they are similar to double-ups that you will find at FanDuel and DraftKings where the top half of the player pool wins.

In GPPs (Guaranteed Prize Pools), a select percentage of the player pool wins portions of the pot. Prizes and the number of winners are predetermined.

Versus

Versus contests can also be referred to as Head-to-Head contests. There’s one winner and one loser and the winner takes the pot.

Prop Lobby

In the Prop Lobby, a user will pick anywhere from 2-4 players to build their lineup. You can pick your players across all available sports leagues open for the day. Then, you will pick your amount of entry from $1-$200.

You must get all legs of your predictions right to win. The more legs you choose and the more you get right, your winnings will increase in multiplier fashion.
