Spree Casino is one of my favorite social casinos available to play at today. On top of an excellent welcome bonus and great promotions, the site offers a unique selection of over 700 casino games so I never get tired of what’s on tap.

Spree is a sweepstakes casino, not a real-money casino, so no purchase is necessary to play. However, if I want to earn real cash, I can use a special currency called Spree Coins to play for a potential prize redemption. This way, I get the best of both worlds.

Spree Casino is a great alternative to real-money casinos for those who live in states where online casinos are legal, or for those who cannot access real-money casinos in their state. Whether I want to play for fun or for a real cash prize, Spree meets my needs.

Is Spree Casino Legit?

Yes, Spree Casino is legit. It is owned and operated by Play Spree Ltd. Inc. in The Isle of Man, and was launched in 2023. Spree operates under Sweepstakes laws in the United States, giving the site the legal right to offer free-to-play casino games, as well as the opportunity to win real cash prizes.

Spree Casino also features slots from external developers, including Pragmatic Play, 3 Oaks Gaming, and Relax Gaming. It’s hard to imagine these developers licensing their games to a fraudulent sweepstakes casino.

Moreover, I was surprised to see a celebrity likeness in the Spree lobby, which further cemented its status as a legitimate sweepstakes casino in my eyes. Snoop Dogg has two games themed after him: Snoop Dogg Dollars and Snoop’s High Rollers.

Does Spree Casino Offer a Mobile App?

No, there isn’t a Spree Casino mobile app. This is pretty standard among sweepstakes casinos, although there are some websites — like McLuck Casino, for example — that do have mobile apps.

With that said, Spree Casino’s lack of a mobile app doesn’t mean I can’t play games at the site from my mobile device. By opening my iPhone’s browser and logging into my account, I can play every game offered by Spree on the go.

In some ways, I actually prefer the mobile version of Spree to the real thing on my laptop. Sure, it might be a little tougher to make out the symbols on certain slots, but the user interface looks great, and none of the menus feel intrusive. Everything runs well and looks as though it has been optimized for mobile play.

There was one issue that I made the mistake of repeating a couple of times. There were a few instances where I found myself on a menu screen that didn’t include an obvious way for me to return to the lobby, so I pressed the back button on my browser instead. Unfortunately, this took me all the way back to my Google search rather than the previous page I was on at Spree.

Aside from that, my experience playing Spree Casino games on my phone was a positive one. I appreciate that the mobile version of the site offers the same functionality and features as the desktop version, including the ability to make purchases, search for games, and check out the latest events and promotions.

Spree Casino: Play for Fun vs. Real Money

Because Spree is a sweepstakes casino, I don’t have the ability to deposit actual cash on the site. Instead, I can play with Spree Coins, which give me the ability to play for real cash prizes. Of course, I can always play these games for fun instead, and I do that by using Gold Coins.

Below, I’ll go into what I found from using the different types of currencies available at Spree Casino.

Playing for Fun at Spree Casino

Playing for fun is the primary way that I enjoy games at Spree Casino. Gold Coins, which are the free-to-play currency at Spree, are much more abundant than Spree Coins, allowing me to spend much more time simply playing games for the fun of it rather than trying to win a real cash prize.

Playing with Gold Coins is a great choice if you’re looking to emulate the casino experience at home. I don’t live near an in-person casino, and real-money online casinos aren’t allowed in my state, so I’ve enjoyed the fact that I can spin some reels from the comfort of my living room whenever I please — and without taking on any financial risk.

When I first started playing for fun at Spree Casino, I chose Fire Strike 2 since it was one of the most popular slots. Before I was able to start spinning, the slot showed me important information like its volatility, special rules, and paytable.

I began by setting my stake to 1,000 Gold Coins per spin — I had 1,000,000 at my disposal, after all — and I won 8,000 Gold Coins on my first play. After a few more spins, I was up 11,000 Gold Coins. My next couple of spins didn’t land me anything, though, so I went back to the lobby to try a different kind of game.

One of the perks of playing at Spree Casino is the variety of games. In addition to slots, there are also Slingo games and real dealer table games. These are all playable with Gold Coins, which I appreciated.

I decided to go for Slingo Advance. I used to play a Slingo game on my computer when I was growing up, so I felt like I might have an upper hand due to my familiarity with the game. This one had a neon appearance and it ran well on my computer, but it didn’t end up being a favorite of mine.

I ended up losing more Gold Coins than I wagered, but the benefit of playing for fun with a free-to-play currency is that I didn’t walk away with any less actual money than I started with. Gold Coins give me the opportunity to try new games and figure out if I’m willing to take the risk on them with Spree Coins, which is a great perk that’s unavailable at real-money casinos.

Playing for Real Money at Spree Casino

After getting my hands wet with the Gold Coins, I decided to switch over to Spree Coins for a shot at a real cash prize. I had 2.9 available from signing up, and I chose to go back to Fire Strike 2 since I seemed to have the most success with that while I was playing for fun.

The process of playing with Spree Coins is virtually identical to playing for fun with Gold Coins. Once I clicked on Fire Strike 2, I had the option to play with Gold Coins or click “Enter Sweepstakes” and use my premium currency.

The minimum spin for this game is 0.2 Spree Coins, and since I didn’t have a ton at my disposal, I kept the stakes low. Unfortunately, I blew through all of my available coins without a single win, so I exited the game feeling like I used up all my luck while I was playing with Gold Coins.

Even still, I couldn’t be too upset. These Spree Coins were ones that I obtained for free, and they gave me the chance to build up my balance and work toward a real cash prize. It wasn’t like I just wasted a ton of actual cash, which could’ve been the case had I been playing at a real-money casino.

I also have the opportunity to load back up on Spree Coins whenever I want. All I need to do is click the “Shop” tab, and several different coin packages come up. There are a few special offers, like one that includes 30,000 Gold Coins and 30 Spree Coins for $9.99, plus a page to look at additional bundles.

I can also earn Spree Coins through various promotions, including the Refer-A-Friend offer. When a friend of mine signs up using my unique link and purchases at least $15 in Gold Coin packages, I’ll get an additional 10 Spree Coins for free.

How Does Spree Social Casino Work?

Spree Casino is a social casino, which is also commonly referred to as a sweepstakes casino. Unlike online real-money casinos, these types of websites offer casino games that are entirely free to play. No purchase is ever necessary to enjoy a sweepstakes casino.

However, social casinos also offer the opportunity to earn actual cash prizes, and it all comes down to which currency I decide to use before I start playing a game. Gold Coins are used to play for fun, while Spree Coins can be played for rewards that go toward making a prize redemption.

This is made possible — and legal — by United States sweepstakes laws. Playing with Spree Coins is viewed in the same light as entering a sweepstakes for a prize. In both cases, no purchase is necessary to participate.

Beyond this key distinction, Spree Casino works like any other online casino, whether I use real money to play or a free-to-play currency like Gold Coins. Spree offers more than 700 casino games, including slots, Slingo, and live table games. Sometimes, these are the exact same games that I would see available at a real-money online casino.

There are plenty of different ways to get both Gold Coins and Spree Coins. Naturally, players start with more Gold Coins than Spree Coins, but it’s not difficult to build a significant balance of either.

One way to get free coins of each variety is by taking advantage of the daily sign-in bonus. On my first day, I received 2,000 Gold Coins and 0.4 Spree Coins, but this bonus scales each time I return and increases all the way up to a maximum of 2.5 Spree Coins per day. It’s worth noting that one Spree Coin is equivalent to $1.

When I’m ready to play a game, I choose whether I want to use Gold Coins or Spree Coins before I make my first bet. Wagers will only return the currency of the same type, so I’m unable to use Gold Coins to win Spree Coins, and vice versa. This is standard among sweepstakes casinos.

Once I have enough Spree Coins to get a prize, I can make a redemption. Spree requires that I have 100 redeemable Spree Coins to receive a cash prize, but I only need to have 10 Spree Coins to qualify for a gift card.

Pros and Cons of Playing at a Spree Social Casino

It goes without saying that there’s no such thing as a perfect sweepstakes casino. However, there’s so much competition in the industry that most of them live up to a relatively high standard. Spree Casino is no exception, and it’s one of the best I’ve played at.

Still, everybody is different, and there are certain aspects that I’m willing to overlook that others may not be. With that in mind, I’ve created a simple list that details some of the top pros and cons of playing at Spree Casino.

Pros of Spree Casino

  • Variety of Slots: Spree Casino offers over 700 slots, and there’s a ton of variety between them. In addition to popular themes, Spree features Megaways, Hold & Win, Immortal Ways, and Unlimited Play slots.
  • Additional Games: Spree Casino has more than just slots, which isn’t something that a lot of other sweepstakes casinos can say. In addition to Slingo and other variety games, there’s also a handful of live dealer games, like Blackjack and Roulette.
  • Daily Bonus: Some sweepstakes casinos don’t put a lot of effort into their daily login bonuses, but that isn’t the case at Spree. A scaling sign-in bonus keeps me motivated to check back each day.
  • First Purchase Bonus: Spree offers a first purchase bonus of 30,000 Gold Coins and 30 Spree Coins — equivalent to $30 — for just $9.99. This is a great way to get started if you have your sights set on a prize redemption.
  • Promotions: On top of the daily bonus and first purchase bonus, Spree has other ways to earn free Gold Coins and Spree Coins, including social media giveaways, leaderboards, contests, and special events.

Cons of Spree Casino

  • Limited Payment Options: If I want to purchase a Gold Coin package, I only have the option to pay with a credit or debit card or Apple Pay. I’ve seen other sweepstakes casinos that allow PayPal and cryptocurrency, for example.
  • Availability: Spree Casino is excluded in more states than usual for sweepstakes casinos. Those located in Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, and Washington are prohibited.
  • No Loyalty Program: Most sweepstakes casinos I’ve come across offer some sort of loyalty or rewards program. Spree Casino doesn’t have one at the moment, but that could always change in the future.

Legal Considerations for Spree Casino

As mentioned above, Spree Casino operates under sweepstakes laws in the United States, which allows the site to legally operate and offer casino games for free with the option to play for a chance at real cash prizes.

Sweepstakes casinos are generally available in most states across the country, but there are a few exceptions. Some sweepstakes casinos are permitted in all but one or two states, while others are prohibited in as many as 10.

Spree Casino is available in all states except for:

  • Alabama
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • Washington

I don’t live in one of these states, so I’m free to play as often as I would like. If I were to try to circumvent these rules, though, I may risk having my account deactivated. It’s not worth trying to play at Spree Casino if it isn’t permitted in your state.

How to Start Playing at Spree Casino

New players at Spree Casino will appreciate how straightforward and simple the sign-up process is. I was able to create my account and begin playing without following a guide, but it’s also good to know what to expect before you sign up for a new sweepstakes casino.

Here’s what I did to get up and running.

  1. Visit Spree Casino.
  2. Click “Create Free Account” on the landing page.
  3. Enter an email and password.
  4. Alternatively, sign up using Apple.
  5. Click the box to confirm your age and agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Head to your email and click the link to confirm your registration.
  7. Claim your free Gold Coins and Spree Coins.
  8. Choose a game and begin playing.

Before jumping right into a game, I would recommend scrolling around the lobby to get the full picture of what’s on offer at Spree Casino. There are a lot of categories to choose from, so I wouldn’t start wagering with Spree Coins right away.

Virtual Currency in Spree Social Casino

There are two kinds of virtual currencies offered by Spree Casino. Those include Gold Coins and Spree Coins, both of which I’ve touched on above. There’s still more to learn about these currencies, though, so strap in.

As mentioned, Gold Coins are the free-to-play currency used at Spree Casino. I received 1,000,000 Gold Coins when I signed up, which was more than enough to get me started. This is the currency I use to play for fun at Spree — these winnings do not count toward potential prize redemptions.

The best way to use Gold Coins is to enjoy yourself or to figure out if a certain game is worth wagering Spree Coins on. By using Gold Coins, I can test a game out first before I decide if I want to use my premium currency. There’s no financial risk when I play with Gold Coins, which is a huge perk that isn’t offered by real-money online casinos.

I can get additional Gold Coins in a variety of ways, including the daily log-in bonus, various events and promotions, and by purchasing coin packages. These coin packages also come with Spree Coins as an additional bonus.

Here are some of the Gold Coin bundles offered by Spree Casino:

  • 5,000 Gold Coins for $4.99
  • 10,000 Gold Coins + 10 Spree Coins for $9.99
  • 20,000 Gold Coins + 20 Spree Coins for $19.99
  • 25,000 Gold Coins + 25 Spree Coins for $24.99
  • 30,000 Gold Coins + 30 Spree Coins for $29.99
  • 40,000 Gold Coins + 40 Spree Coins for $39.99
  • 50,000 Gold Coins + 51 Spree Coins for $49.99
  • 75,000 Gold Coins + 75 Spree Coins for $74.99
  • 100,000 Gold Coins + 101 Spree Coins for $99.99
  • 150,000 Gold Coins + 150 Spree Coins for $149.99
  • 200,000 Gold Coins + 200 Spree Coins for $199.99
  • 300,000 Gold Coins + 303 Spree Coins for $299.99

There are also two special Gold Coin packages available. These can only be purchased once each.

  • 50,000 Gold Coins + 50 Spree Coins for $24.99
  • 30,000 Gold Coins + 30 Spree Coins for $9.99

Spree Coins are the premium currency used at Spree Casino. These coins are equivalent to real money, and any winnings generated from wagering with them can be redeemed for a prize once I’ve met the threshold.

To receive a cash prize, I have to have 100 redeemable Spree Coins. Alternatively, to get a gift card, I only need to have 10 redeemable Spree Coins.

Spree Coins can be redeemed once they’ve been wagered at least one time. For example, the 2.5 Spree Coins I received upon signing up weren’t eligible for redemption. However, if I had wagered those 2.5 Spree Coins and turned them into 10, for example, I would be able to put those coins toward a gift card or cash prize redemption.

I can track my redeemable balance of Spree Coins by clicking the green “Redeem” button on the left side of the screen. Once there, it shows my unplayed balance and my total balance. There’s also a helpful guide that tells me exactly how to redeem Spree Coins.

Spree Social Casino Safety and Responsible Gaming

Whether I’m playing with Gold Coins for fun or using Spree Coins to try for a prize redemption, it’s important that I stay mindful of how much I’m spending. It’s easy to get carried away given the vast amount of slots available, but I try my best to stay on top of things.

Fortunately, Spree Casino offers some safety nets to help keep spending in check, should it become an issue. By navigating to the left-hand menu and clicking on the “Help Center” tab, I can view Spree’s Safer Gaming policies.

If I want to limit how much I can spend on Gold Coin packages each day, I can email Spree Casino’s support team or fill out a contact form. This is not an instantaneous limit — it must be applied by the support team once they’ve received my request.

I can also apply for self-exclusion, which will place a lock on my account that prevents me from getting back in. Spree Casino urges that players who apply for self-exclusion also unfollow their social media channels. They also prohibit creating an alternate account to circumvent the self-exclusion period.

To request self-exclusion, I have to email Spree Casino’s support team and be specific about what I would like to do. For example, I can choose to take a break and choose a specified period of seven, 14, or 30 days. If that isn’t enough time, I can also request a self-exclusion period of at least six months.

I appreciate the steps that Spree Casino has put in place to protect player safety. Some sweepstakes casinos don’t treat this issue as seriously as it should be taken, so it’s nice to find ones that go as far as limiting my use of free-to-play currency, let alone Spree Coins.

Popular Games at Spree Social Casino

With such a big selection of games available at Spree Casino, it would take a long time for me to go through and figure out which games are the absolute best. Fortunately, Spree separates their games in the lobby into categories, including a Top 10 section.

The current top 10 games available at Spree Casino are:

  1. Magic Ball Multichance — 3 Oaks Gaming
  2. Snoop’s High Rollers — Relax Gaming
  3. Fire Stampede — Pragmatic Play
  4. Diamond Spree Explosion — Ruby Play
  5. Fire 88 — Pragmatic Play
  6. Sugar Rush 1000 — Pragmatic Play
  7. Money Train 3 — Relax Gaming
  8. Coin Strike: Hold and Win — Playson
  9. Supercharged Clovers Hold & Win — Playson
  10. Golden Teapot — 3 Oaks Gaming

Spree Casino has games created in-house, but as seen above, there are also plenty of external developers that have created games exclusively for this sweepstakes casino. These can be found under the “Exclusive Games” tab in the lobby.

Additionally, Spree Casino has a featured collection of popular slots, which currently includes 58 games. I would suggest checking out all the featured tabs in the lobby before choosing a game. This helps me get a feel for what’s available, and it gives me a chance to see which new games have been added.

Conclusion: Is Spree Social Casino Worth Your Time?

Yes, I do think Spree Casino is worth checking out. It runs just as well as any other sweepstakes casino I’ve reviewed, but it’s full of features and unique games that I haven’t found anywhere else. I also think the user interface is among the best, which is important to me.

More than anything, the daily sign-in bonus is what keeps me coming back to Spree Casino. There are several sweepstakes casinos that seem to overlook this type of bonus, which forces me to spend real money on coin packages. At Spree, though, I always have an easy way to get free Spree Coins.

There are certainly things I would change about Spree Casino — I would love to see additional live dealer games added, like Texas Hold ‘Em or other poker games — but it’s hard to complain based on everything that’s available. This site has earned its reputation as one of the best in the industry.
