What Are the Different Types of Solana Prediction Markets?
Solana prediction markets are any type of prediction market you can trade that involves the Solana cryptocurrency in some form. I’ve had plenty of experience with these predictions, and they usually include the following types:
- 5-minute: You are given a target SOL price, and you buy/sell UP or DOWN trade contracts relating to the target price being higher or lower than the actual SOL price within that specific 5 minute period.
- 15-minute: You’re given a target SOL price and then choose to buy or sell UP or DOWN contracts based on whether you think the actual SOL price will end up above or below that target within a specific 15-minute window.
- Hourly: Oftentimes, the hourly SOL price prediction markets will include a set of different price brackets, and you can buy and sell yes/no trade contracts relating to those different price brackets in relation to the actual SOL price at the end of the hour.
- Daily: Similar to the hourly predictions, there will typically be multiple different price brackets that you can trade relating to the expected price of Solana at the end of a specific 24 hour period.
- Annually: Annual SOL predictions will typically either be expected figures to surpass, such as, “Will Solana end 2025 over $500?”, or bracketed price predictions such as, “Price of Solana by end of 2026?”.
- Specific price predictions: I have seen other variations of Solana price predictions, and these often include predictions matched against other cryptocurrencies, or price predictions relating to the all time high and all time low Solana market price.
With each of these predictions, the exchange hosting them will usually have a third-party price tracker index that they use to determine the official results of the predictions. I think it’s a good idea to understand exactly where they are getting their SOL price figures from, so that you have full transparency on how the predictions work.
Short-Term SOL Prediction Markets
In recent times, I’ve noticed an uptick in the number of short term SOL prediction markets. These are more immediate predictions that give traders the potential for consistent returns, and more trading activity. I typically class short-term predictions as anything shorter than daily price predictions and you can see some examples in the below table:
| Short-term Prediction | Target Price | UP | DOWN | Operator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SOL 15-minute | $64.6487 | 25c | 77c | Kalshi |
| SOL 15-minute | $64.6400 | 55c | 52c | Polymarket |
| SOL 5-minute | $64.5500 | 60c | 40c | Polymarket |
Polymarket and Kalshi both offer short-term SOL predictions, with Polymarket also offering a 4-hourly option for Solana and other cryptocurrencies. These types of predictions could be more ideal for active traders who have more time to monitor price trends.
Medium and Long-Term SOL Prediction Markets
Alternatively, medium and long-term Solana prediction markets are also especially popular, and these have been a staple at sites like Polymarket and Kalshi for a while now. I class these as anything equal to or greater than a 24 hour period, so typically daily, monthly, and annual SOL price predictions, such as the examples listed in the below table:
| SOL Prediction | Yes | No | Operator |
|---|---|---|---|
| What price will Solana hit on June 8th-14th? (>$60) | 77c | 69c | Polymarket |
| How high will SOL get in June? (Above $90) | 6c | 95c | Kalshi |
| Price of Solana by the end of 2026? (100 or above) | 38c | 67c | Kalshi |
Again, Polymarket and Kalshi are perhaps the best two exchanges for long term Solana predictions as they have some of the best trading volume and complementary features, plus a relatively low fee structure.
Pros and Cons of Solana Prediction Markets
I like the fact that there is a diverse range of Solana predictions - it gives you flexibility, and means you can try out multiple different short and long-term trading strategies. Additionally, there is plenty of information and data available relating to the price trends of Solana to help you make more informed trading decisions. In the same instance though, I do not think these are the types of predictions that anyone can jump into without industry knowledge. Also, as with any other cryptocurrency, the price of SOL can be especially volatile, which can add an extra risk factor to these predictions.
Pros
- Lots of trading options
- Great support and documentation
- Easy to understand the trade structure
- High trade volume
Cons
- Volatile cryptocurrency prices
- Steeper learning curve
Tips for Trading Solana Prediction Markets
Trading things like Solana and Ethereum prediction markets requires a little more industry insight and knowledge, and I also think there are some considerations to make before jumping into your first trade.
1. Be Willing to Do a Little Market Research
Solana prediction markets are not something you can go into “blind”, i.e. without any knowledge of the cryptocurrency, the economic climate, and the conditions surrounding its fluctuating price. You could, of course, simply look at the implied percentages of the different SOL trade contracts, but these are not always accurate. Instead, I think you have to be diligent, inform yourself about the altcoin you wish to trade predictions for, and keep track of things like price trends and upcoming major changes to the underlying blockchain network that could affect investment.
2. Create a Diverse SOL Trading Strategy
As you can see from the above, there are many different types of Solana price prediction markets that you can trade. If you intend to utilize this cryptocurrency as a part of your trading strategy, I think it’s ideal to look at short, medium, and long term options, to give yourself a balanced strategy. For example, you could trade a range of long term SOL predictions for potential consistent returns, but offset this with semi-regular short-term 5-minute or 15-minute SOL predictions to provide short bursts of trading activity and potential returns.
3. Be Clear on the Exchange Trading Fees
All prediction trading exchanges charge fees. From my own time trading, I’ve found that fees are typically around 2%, but the exact amount will vary depending on the site and the type of prediction. Before you make any SOL trades, it’s important that you 100% understand the trading fees, and any deposit/withdrawal fees. All of these fees added together mean your potential bottom line is reduced, and you need to make sure that your returns cover them.
Top Two Exchanges That Feature Solana Price Prediction Markets in the US
During my time researching Solana 15-minute markets and other predictions, I’ve come to realize that there are two standout options that offer the best features and trade potential for this cryptocurrency. These are Kalshi and Polymarket. I’ve created mini reviews of each site below, plus given a breakdown of the main SOL prediction markets they offer in the following table:
| Site | 5-Minute SOL | 15-Minute SOL | Hourly SOL | Daily SOL | Monthly SOL | Annual SOL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polymarket | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Kalshi | No | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Polymarket - Great for Short-Term SOL Trading
From my experience, Polymarket potentially has the best SOL short term prediction markets. This includes Solana 5-minute markets, and it’s currently the only exchange to offer this type of price-based prediction. Alongside that, you can also trade predictions for other periods including 15 minutes, an hour, and daily. Finally, Polymarket also has a range of specialized Solana predictions, such as the price fluctuations against other cryptocurrencies, and its all time high tracking stats.
I’ve always been impressed with the fee structure at Polymarket too - it has a variable setup based on the trade contract price, and the prediction category, and this often means you pay much less than 2%. Accessibility is pretty good too - the desktop site is great for US customers to browse the different prediction markets, while the mobile apps are of superb quality, and are what US residents will use for actual trades.
While Polymarket does specialize in Solana prediction markets, it has loads of other 5-minute crypto markets, plus one of the largest selections of event categories, including sports, finance, geopolitics, tech, culture, economy, and weather.
Kalshi - Superb SOL Trading Volume and Liquidity
Like Polymarket, Kalshi also has a dedicated SOL prediction category. This includes 15-minute markets, but also other timespans up to annual price predictions. There’s also some generic Solana predictions such as, “How high will Solana get this year?”, and “Will Solana end 2026 over $500?”. Whenever I’ve checked out the crypto predictions here, they have plenty of trading activity, but the short term markets can vary depending on the time of day, and there’s usually an update of activity for these markets during the evenings.
Kalshi is also an interesting pick as it offers Kalshi Combos - these are a type of combination prediction where you can combine multiple individual trade contracts into one. These are generally not available for crypto, but are most commonly found for a selected range of sporting events. It also has live predictions for sports including most of the US pro leagues.
In terms of accessibility, I prefer the Kalshi desktop website, and like Polymarket, it has an intuitive interface where you can easily search through the predictions. There’s also an Android and iOS app which have always given me a smooth mobile trading experience.
Conclusion - There’s a Versatile Range of SOL Prediction Markets to Trade
As long as this cryptocurrency remains one of the most-traded altcoins with a healthy market cap, I expect Solana prediction markets at sites like Kalshi and Polymarket to continue to flourish. If you have knowledge of this altcoin or follow crypto price trends, then this is perhaps something you can explore. There’s a wide range of markets, from short term 5 and 15-minute predictions, to more long term options like monthly and annual target prices.
While a range of different P2P prediction exchanges do support Solana prediction markets, I believe that Kalshi and Polymarket are the top two options. They provide the greatest variety of markets, including the aforementioned short term predictions, plus have an established brand reputation, and plenty of trading volume and liquidity.
