The 2022 Winter Olympics are here and will take place in Beijing, China, from Feb. 4 through Feb. 20. That gives sports bettors plenty of opportunities to wager on a variety of fun events that they rarely have the chance to bet on (like curling!).
As with last summer’s games in Tokyo, there will be no fans allowed in-person due to the ongoing pandemic. While we typically see a number of upsets during Olympic events, empty stadiums may have an impact as well.
The show will go on, however, as does the sports betting world. With that in mind, here are some betting tips and best bets to get you prepared for the 24th Winter Olympics.
Please note that all Olympics odds and lines are current as of 11 a.m. ET on Friday, February 4.
Olympics Best Bets 2022
Team USA OVER 22.5 Medals (-106) at FanDuel
Wager: 1 Unit
The chances of the U.S. leading the medal count are slim to almost none, as countries like Norway, Germany, and even Russia are just too dominant across winter events.

That said, the Over on 22.5 medals is reasonable, as this U.S. contingent is believed to be slightly stronger than the group that took home 23 medals in 2018.
Women’s Ice Hockey: Canada To Win Gold (-120) at FanDuel
Wager: 2 Units
With no NHL athletes leaving their teams midseason to go to Beijing, the women take center stage here.
Even with some new talent, Sarah Fillier and the Canadiens are slight favorites. Given the Brianna Decker injury news for the Americans, these odds are a great value but may shorten as the tournament goes on.
Women’s Giant Slalom: Mikaela Shiffrin To Win Gold (+275) at Caesars
Wager: 1 Unit
The odds appear to be in Sara Hector‘s (Sweden) favor, but Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) excels on hills like the one in China. The course layout should help her here, especially since she won the last Olympic giant slalom race.
Women’s 4×6 km Relay Biathlon: Sweden To Win Gold (+163) at Caesars
Wager: 1 Unit
This appears to be a very close event and one of the more hotly contested races at the Winter Olympics. Sweden, Norway, and France could all easily win this.
Sweden’s Oberg Sisters (Elvira and Hanna) are a force to be reckoned with, however, and should edge out Norway for the top spot.

Women’s Skeleton: Tina Hermann To Win Gold (+400) at Caesars
Wager: 1 Unit
The Women’s Skeleton is another high-stakes event at this Winter Olympics which could go either way.
Germany’s Tina Hermann has the hot hand after winning three straight skeleton races, including the 2021 World Championship. She can beat anyone down the icy track.
Men’s Snowboarding Slopestyle: Mark McMorris To Win Gold (+400) at Unibet
Wager: 1 Unit
The Men’s Snowboarding Slopestyle expects to feature a North American battle between Canadien Mark McMorris and American Redmond Gerard.
Gerard shocked the slopes when he took gold on the last run in 2018, while McMorris settled for bronze. Expect McMorris to gain a measure of revenge this time around.
How To Bet On The Olympics 2022
Watch the ticket/handle percentages.
What do we mean by that? For example, Team USA is seeing a whopping 58.3% ticket / 65.2% handle at +1400 odds. If their odds shorten, the Americans could become more of a liability than they already are.
Look for good form heading into the Olympics.
For betting on individualized and team sports alike, examine how athletes are faring even during the latest COVID wave. Are they placing well, winning, or lagging in events they normally excel in? Value can be gained this way.
