Australian Open Women’s Odds & Best Bets

Last Updated: Jan 13, 2023

The Australian Open is one of the most prominent events in tennis, and while the men’s rendition gains tons of media coverage, the women’s side typically generates tons of excitement.

In 2022, Australian Ashleigh Barty took home the Grand Slam title on her home turf over American veteran Danielle Collins.

There is always far more parity in the Women’s Australian Open due to the lack of a truly dominant force in the event like Novak Djokovic. While Iga Świątek remains the future of the sport, there are still plenty of outstanding competitors capable of winning the tournament.

With so many possibilities for a final result, let’s discuss some 2023 Australian Open Women’s best bets.

Australian Open 2023 Women’s Best Bet

Australian Open Women’s Winner Odds

  • Iga Świątek (+175)
  • Naomi Osaka (+850)
  • Caroline Garcia (+1000)
  • Aryna Sabalenka (+1000)
  • Ons Jabeur (+1200)
  • Elena Rybakina (+1200)
  • Maria Sakkari (+1200)
  • Coco Gauff (+1200)
  • Paula Badosa (+1400)
  • Garbiñe Muguruza (+1600)
  • Barbora Krejčíková (+1600)
  • Anett Kontaveit (+1800)

Australian Open odds are current as of noon ET on Friday, Dec. 23, at Caesars Sportsbook.

The odds are dramatically shifted towards Iga Świątek to win the 2023 Australian Open. While she is understandably the most likely player to win, this eliminates a large portion of the value in backing her.

The (+175) odds for Świątek are reasonable all things considered, but some of the “long shots” appear to be far better options due to the excessively high odds attached to each of them.

At this rate, oddsmakers are attaching implied odds of 36.4% for Świątek to win. Those are lofty expectations.

As we will discuss further, there are some serious value bets to be looked at this year.

Australian Open Women’s Winner Bet

Naomi Osaka (+850)

Osaka is truly an interesting case in women’s tennis. She is considered to be one of the best female tennis players around, but volatility often derails her performances.

This is no fault of her own, however, and with the (+850) odds attached to her, she represents an outstanding value for her talent level.

Osaka has won the Australian Open two out of the past four years, representing half of her Grand Slam titles. She is more than capable of notching a fifth title handily, but Świątek remains a clear-cut challenger given the track record.

Backing Osaka to win her third Australian Open is the play here, in my opinion, as the odds are simply not representative of her true talent.

Australian Open Women’s Contenders

Iga Świątek (+175)

Świątek is the odds-on favorite to win the 2023 Australian Open and for good reason. She has the youthful energy and hard-surface mastery to combine for another title.

She’s an excellent option to bet on if you prefer to back the far less favorable odds than her competitors.

Świątek had a year for the ages in 2022, notching victories in the French Open and U.S. Open while also making the semifinals of the Australian Open. At just 21 years old, she has already accomplished a ton, and her stellar 2022 performance earned her the No. 1 ranking for women’s tennis.

Ons Jabeur (+1200)

Jabeur had one of the best seasons of any WTA player in 2022, making the finals of both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. At 28 years old, she has the experience necessary to battle through a really strong field at the Australian Open in 2023.

Jabeur has not done well at the Australian Open historically, with her best performance coming in 2020 where she reached the quarterfinals. However, she is well-equipped to stand tough and is an outstanding option at (+1200) odds.

Australian Open Winner Women’s Sleeper Bet

Coco Gauff (+1400)

Youth is often a tremendous asset in tennis due to the fresh legs and overall condition attached to it. Gauff, one of the youngest competitors in this year’s field, is well-equipped to knock off some of the top competition and has a solid track record on hard surfaces.

Gauff has not won a Grand Slam title yet at 18 years old, but it would not surprise anyone if she got it done at the 2023 Australian Open. She’s a bright young star of the sport and there’s not a better time to put it on display.

Aryna Sabalenka (+1000)

Sabalenka is tied for the third-best odds to win the Australian Open, and while it might seem strange to have her in the dark-horse section, I believe she fits the bill. The oddsmakers seem to be more in tune with Sabalenka’s ability than the general public is.

She is someone that often gets overlooked altogether, but has reached the No. 2 ranking in the world for singles on multiple occasions. She won the Australian Open title in 2021 for doubles.

The (+1000) odds for Sabalenka might be pretty accurate with the presence of Świątek and Osaka, but they are just long enough to leave some value. It’s tough to get (+1000) odds for a player who is quite possibly a top-three competitor within the field, but Sabalenka provides that.
