Raiders Futures Odds After Davante Adams Trade | Super Bowl, AFC, & Division Lines

In one of the biggest surprises of the NFL offseason thus far, the Las Vegas Raiders acquired wide receiver Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers for a first-round pick and a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

After receiving the franchise tag from Green Bay, Adams was outspoken about wanting a contract extension that made him the highest-paid WR in the league.

That deal couldn’t come from the cap-stricken Packers, who were already way above the salary cap before signing Aaron Rodgers to a three-year, $150 million deal earlier this month. Instead, it came from the Raiders, who inked the five-time Pro Bowler to a five-year, $142.5 million contract after acquiring him.

This move reunites Adams with his college quarterback and friend Derek Carr and signals Las Vegas’ intent to keep pace in a loaded AFC West.

With Adams now in the fold, do the Raiders’ odds to win Super Bowl 57 improve? What are Las Vegas’ best bets for 2022-2023?

Raiders Super Bowl 57 Odds with Adams

Raiders to Win Super Bowl 57 (+5000) at Caesars

On the Monday morning after Super Bowl 56, the Las Vegas Raiders had +5000 odds to win it all next season, and those odds haven’t moved despite everything that’s happened.

Not only have the Raiders traded for Davante Adams, but they also inked pass rusher Chandler Jones to a three-year deal that adds another intimidating presence to a defensive line that also features Maxx Crosby.

Adding these significant pieces to a team that went 10-7 and made the postseason in 2021 would typically propel a team’s odds forward. The issue, in this case, is that Las Vegas is still projected to finish fourth in the loaded AFC West, which now features Patrick MahomesJustin Herbert, and Russell Wilson.

With the NFL’s expanded postseason, it is theoretically possible that all four teams from the division could qualify for the playoffs, but that possibility is exceedingly unlikely.

The Raiders will likely have to outperform at least one of their division rivals to reach the postseason. I know it doesn’t look likely on paper, but I actually don’t think that’s too much of a stretch.

This Las Vegas squad reached the postseason last year against all odds, especially given the off-field issues they had to endure surrounding former HC Jon Gruden and WR Henry Ruggs III.

If first-year HC Josh McDaniels can elevate Carr to an even higher level, this offense should be tough to stop in 2022. Just the presence of Adams, who combined with Carr for 233 receptions, 3,031 receiving yards, and 38 touchdowns in just two seasons (!!!) at Fresno State, per Peter Schrager, should be a major boost.

Hunter Renfrow is a dynamic and dependable slot receiver, and we know tight end Darren Waller is just about unguardable when healthy. With Adams on the outside, they could end up in lots of favorable one-on-one situations.

The major question will be the defense, especially the secondary after veteran corner Casey Hayward signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Personally, I’m a believer in new DC Patrick Graham, and that pass rush could certainly cover some of the holes in the secondary.

The Raiders probably should’ve beaten the Cincinnati Bengals on Wild Card Weekend, as Las Vegas outgained Cincinnati 385-308 but lost the turnover battle, and Joe Burrow’s squad went all the way to the Super Bowl.

If not for the challenging division and conference, these odds would be lower, and they are at some other sportsbooks. I think the Raiders are a good option if you’re looking for a Super Bowl longshot with upside.

Raiders AFC Championship Odds with Adams

Raiders to Win AFC Championship (+2500) at Caesars

According to Caesars Sportsbook, the Raiders have 11th-best odds to win the AFC.

Las Vegas only ranks ahead of the Miami Dolphins (+3500), Pittsburgh Steelers (+4000), Jacksonville Jaguars (+6000), New York Jets (+8000), and Houston Texans (+10000) to win the conference.

I do think this number is also a little too high, as the Raiders should probably be closer to the middle tier that includes the Indianapolis Colts (+1300), Tennessee Titans (+1300), and New England Patriots (+1700). I’ve seen Las Vegas as low as +2000 at other books, which makes more sense.

However, if you think the Raiders are live to win the AFC Championship, you might as well bet them to win the Super Bowl for double the price.

Raiders AFC West Division Odds with Adams

Raiders to Win AFC West (+750) at Caesars

As we discussed above, the Raiders are projected to finish last in the AFC West behind the Chiefs (+130), Chargers (+275), and Broncos (+275).

Everything points to this division being the best in the NFL next season and for years to come with the talent all four teams have, especially at the quarterback position.

Most pundits would agree that Carr is the weakest of the four, but he’s no slouch, either. The eight-year pro threw for 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns last season, with Renfrow as his No. 1 target.

Adding an alpha like Adams, who amassed 110+ receptions, 1,350+ yards, and 11+ scores in three separate seasons with the Packers, should make a big difference.

Las Vegas does have the best odds of any team slated to finish fourth in their respective division, but a Wild Card berth is the more likely route to the postseason for the Raiders.

Davante Adams 2022 Prop Bets

Davante Adams to Win NFL MVP (+5000) at BetMGM

Currently at BetMGM Sportsbook, Adams has the third-shortest odds among wide receivers to win NFL MVP honors behind Super Bowl 56 MVP Cooper Kupp (+2500) and San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel (+4000). He’s also tied with Bengals stud Ja’Marr Chase at (+5000).

This probably isn’t a good bet given that no wide receiver has won the award, and Kupp received only one vote last season despite coming within an arm’s length of breaking multiple receiving records.

Betting on Carr (+4000) isn’t overly attractive either, so holding out until season-long player props seem logical.
