The investment in the hiring of Doug Pederson as a head coach following the Urban Meyer fiasco a year prior paid off handsomely for the Jaguars in 2022.
A 9-8 regular season and AFC South championship was followed by a postseason journey that ended in a competitive divisional-round loss to the eventual champion Chiefs at Arrowhead.
Expectations are naturally elevated heading into Year 2 of the Pederson era, and Jacksonville could have an even more explosive offense this season with the additions of D’Ernest Johnson and rookie Tank Bigsby in the backfield, along with Calvin Ridley at receiver.
Jacksonville still seems to be the class of the AFC South, even as the Colts and Texans could prove to be teams on the rise. A second consecutive year in Pederson’s system could certainly lead to another breakout year for Trevor Lawrence, who thrived to the tune of 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns a season ago.

Jaguars Win Total Odds
- Over 9.5 Wins (-150)
- Under 9.5 Wins (+122)
Jaguars Win Total Bet: Over 9.5 Wins (-150)
FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
The Jaguars, ranked 10th in our NFL power rankings, won nine games last season in Pederson’s first season and should be even better with a full year of experience in his system and under his leadership.
In addition to Lawrence now having an additional pass-catching weapon in Ridley, star running back Travis Etienne could be ready to take his already impressive game to another level after being another year removed from his 2021 Lisfranc injury.
The defense is also stocked with young talent like Josh Allen, 2022 top overall pick Travon Walker, draft classmate Devin Lloyd, and tackling machine Foye Oluokun.
Considering Jacksonville could potentially even run the table in its division games and has no true weaknesses on either side of the ball, a minimum of a one-win improvement over last season is within reach.
Jaguars Make Playoffs Odds

- No (+154)
Jaguars Make Playoffs Bet: Yes (-192)

Building on my previous prediction, this is the bet to make regarding the postseason as it pertains to Jacksonville.
The Jaguars are the favorite to repeat as division champs (more on that next) and I’m a firm believer in that label for Jacksonville, making this bet a no-brainer for me.
Jaguars Futures Prop Bets
Jaguars To Win AFC South (-150)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER:1 unit
As already mentioned, the Jaguars are still several steps ahead of the other clubs in their division, in every aspect.
The fact that two of the other AFC South squads are led by rookie head coaches also helps Jacksonville’s chances of repeating, as does the fact the Jags clearly have the best quarterback in the division.
Jaguars AFC Championship Winner (+1500)
FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
While the Jags will have traversed an extremely arduous path if this bet does hit, the combination of the price and Jacksonville’s talent certainly makes this wager a consideration.
Jacksonville gave the Chiefs plenty of trouble before bowing out of last year’s AFC Divisional Round Game, defeated the Chargers and Cowboys during the regular season, and nipped the Ravens by one point.
The Jags arguably have the talent to compete with anyone in the conference, especially with Lawrence now being much more battle-tested. If Ridley is able to regain his previous form after a season and a half away from the league, the offense will arguably have enough to keep up with the Chiefs, Bengals, and Bills.
Trevor Lawrence Over 3875.5 Passing Yards (-118)
FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
Lawrence breezed through this figure last season (4,113), and that was with him acclimating to his second offensive system in as many pro seasons.
The 2021 first-overall pick will have spent this offseason refining his skills as opposed to having to put in copious amounts of classroom/study time, and the same naturally applies to a talented group of pass catchers that includes Etienne, Ridley, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram.
As such, I see this as a very achievable prop for Lawrence if he remains healthy.

How to Bet on Jaguars Games in 2023
How to Bet Jaguars Moneylines
NFL moneyline wagers are the simplest forms of NFL bets. All you have to do is pick a team to win a given game, and if they do, you win your bet.
Since winning is the only requirement to cash your bet, the odds for NFL moneylines can vary greatly depending on each team’s implied probability of winning (or losing) that game. Favorites are designated by a minus symbol (-150), whereas underdogs are represented by a plus symbol (+150).
If the Jaguars are a (-150) favorite against the rival Titans, you would have to bet $30 to turn a $20 profit. If Jacksonville was a (+150) underdog, you would profit $45 off a $30 bet.

How to Bet Jaguars Spreads
Betting the spread is the most efficient way to wager on NFL games, as it presents two evenly priced options. The spread, which is assigned a value by the books, is the number of points that the favorite is expected to win by against the underdog.
If the Jaguars are 6-point favorites over the Titans, the spread for that game will be set up like this: Jaguars -6 (-110) vs Titans +6 (-110).
In this scenario, the Jaguars would have to win by more than six points for you to win your bet. If they were to win by a pair of field goals, your bet would push and you would recoup your initial wager.
Jacksonville squeezed out a winning record against the spread in 2022, but with a potentially more proficient offense and the young talent on defense likely taking another step forward, there could be bigger margins of victory and more competitive losses for Jacksonville in the relatively rare instances where they’re underdogs.
- 2022 Jaguars Against the Spread Record: 10-9 (including postseason)
How to Bet Jaguars Over/Unders
If you don’t want to pick a side, you can still bet on Jaguars games by wagering on the total number of points scored.
Sportsbooks set the amount of combined points they expect both teams in the game to score, and then you can bet on either the Over or the Under.
If you expect Lawrence, Etienne, and company to run roughshod over a questionable defense, then you’ll probably want to take the Over. However, if the Jags play another team with a tough defense, then the Under may certainly be the way to go.
Jacksonville’s games checked in was just under .500 with respect to the Over last season/postseason, but a quicker start on offense for the Jags in their second year under Pederson could certainly lead to bigger scoring contributions on their end.
- 2022 Jaguars Over/Under Record: 9-10 (including postseason)
