Alabama Odds & Best Bets

Last Updated: Aug 8, 2023

In case you haven’t been paying attention, the Alabama Crimson Tide are no longer the perennial college football favorites. They’re not chopped liver, but the days of absolute dominance seem to have passed.

The Tide and their head coach Nick Saban have been held without a national title since 2020. For a program that’s reeled off six national championships since 2009, this is an uncharacteristic drought.

Alabama hasn’t yet named a starting quarterback. Favored to lead new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees’s unit is Jalen Milroe, a fantastic and athletic option who can beat teams with his arm and rushing ability.

The bread and butter of every good Alabama football team has been their defense. They’ll need to replace the big-time production of Will Anderson Jr., the No. 3 overall pick of the Houston Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Crimson Tide have one of the best corners in the game in Kool-Aid McKinstry. Dallas Turner will be the next great linebacker to make a splash in the NFL from this program.

Alabama odds used in this report are current as of Tuesday, July 18, at 11 a.m. ET, at DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Alabama: Win National Championship (+600)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.25 Units

Not only will the Crimson Tide need to get past the back-to-back champion Georgia Bulldogs, but Alabama will also have to take down LSU, who took their spot in the SEC Championship game a year ago.

VSIN projects Alabama to win 10.3 games, which clocks because there are a few tough matchups in their schedule vs Texas, at Texas A&M, vs Tennessee, and vs LSU. However, the Tide are being given a ton of skepticism from bookmakers, which is reflected in their long odds.

This is a value bet worthy of a modest bet.

Alabama: Win SEC Title (+300)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.5 Units

The SEC West is a two-team race between Alabama and LSU. Last year, to their credit, the Tigers exceeded expectations and supplanted the Tide in the SEC Championship game.

At the end of the day, a strong running game and defense keeps every opponent honest. Spearheaded by Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams, and Justice Haynes, this backfield is one of the best, most experienced, and more underrated corps Alabama has fielded in years.

Add this duo to Milroe’s scrambling talents and Alabama will find plenty of ways to make life miserable for their SEC rivals.

Jalen Milroe: Heisman Trophy Winner (+5000)

FanDuel Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.1 Unit

If and when Milroe is named the official starting quarterback, this is a bet worth considering as the line could shift rapidly. Ty Simpson is also competing for the job and his odds are even more of a longshot at +8000.

With game-changing speed and mobility, Milroe can blow open a game with big play after big play. The question is whether he can do enough consistently as a passer.

Throw down a small lottery ticket type bet once Saban announces who will lead the Crimson Tide. Watch TGD’s Heisman Trophy odds to monitor the favorites and best sleepers to also consider to take home the hardware.

Alabama Best Prop Bets

Alabama EXACT 10 wins (+330)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

There are four Alabama games to watch closely: vs Texas, at Texas A&M, vs Tennessee, and vs LSU. They’ll split this selection.

Their game against Texas last year was far closer than it should’ve been and Bama will show up prepared to exact revenge. The two losses are more likely to come from a road game against TAMU and two tough conference games against Tennessee and LSU.

Alabama Make College Football Playoff (+135)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

It wouldn’t be shocking if both the Big Ten and SEC end up with two teams in the College Football Playoff. With that logic, Georgia, Alabama, and LSU are three favorites to claim the SEC’s two spots in the CFP.

It’s not a coin toss, but it essentially is: Georgia will get an invite and then either Bama or LSU will get the second invitation. With that in mind, at +135 odds, Alabama delivers betting value and an opportunity to more than double your money.
