Best Celtics Betting Lines 2023
The Boston Celtics took the league by storm during the second half of the 2021-22 season, going 26-6 over their final 32 games. They earned the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference as a result, and after defeating the Nets, Bucks, and Heat in the playoffs, they clinched a spot in the NBA Finals.
Boston’s title run came to an end when the team was defeated by Golden State, but by then, there was no denying this team’s standing as one of the very best in the league. And since many of their stars are still in the early stages of their respective careers, it seems as though the Celtics are here to stay.
After adding a few talented veterans during the offseason, the Celtics appear poised to make another run at the championship in 2023. But will they finally be able to add another banner to the rafters at TD Garden?
Let’s take a closer look at the Celtics betting odds for the 2022-23 NBA season.

Celtics NBA Finals Odds
Celtics Win 2023 NBA Finals (+550)
The Celtics were on the doorstep of winning their 17th NBA title this past season, so there’s little doubt in my mind that they can do so in 2023. This is one of the most dangerous teams in the league, and with the addition of Malcolm Brogdon, they’ve only gotten deeper since we saw them last.
Boston is the odds-on favorite to win it all, so we aren’t exactly getting a ton of value here. However, I’m more than happy to back them at this (+500) price tag, and you should be too.
Celtics Eastern Conference Odds
Celtics Win Eastern Conference (+270)
It should come as no surprise that the Celtics are the odds-on favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals this year. While I wouldn’t say that this team is clearly head and shoulders above the rest, it feels foolish to bet against them after seeing what they accomplished in 2022.
So long as they can earn a relatively high seed in the standings and keep pace with teams like the Nets, Bucks, Heat, and 76ers, I really like them to return to the Finals.
Celtics Atlantic Division Odds
Celtics Win Atlantic Division (+135)
The Atlantic Division is absolutely stacked this year. Joining the Celtics in this mosh pit are the Nets, 76ers, Raptors, and Knicks, all of whom will at the very least be vying for a spot in the playoffs.
Still, the Celtics have as good a shot as any to take home their division title. They claimed it in a tiebreaker with the Sixers last season, and while virtually all of their rivals have gotten stronger, I’m not willing to bet against Boston in this spot — even at (+135) odds.
Celtics Make Playoffs Odds
Celtics Make the Playoffs (-4500)
Considering the level of overall talent that’s on this roster, the Celtics would have to have a historically down year and endure several injuries to key players to miss the playoffs. The Eastern Conference has improved as a whole, but not enough to the point that Boston should worry at all about missing the postseason in 2023.
Celtics Win Total Bets 2023
Celtics UNDER 53.5 Wins (-110)
I expect the Celtics to be one of the best teams in the league this season, but I still feel that this win total is set slightly too high. Quite honestly, I’m not sure that any Eastern Conference team will reach this number, let alone Boston.
The Miami Heat finished with the best record in the East last season, and they did so by winning 53 games. This conference has improved rather significantly since then, with mid-tier contenders like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks trading for All-Stars in Donovan Mitchell and Dejounte Murray, respectively.
Teams in this range figure to take a few wins away from the top contenders in the conference, and that includes the Celtics. I’m high on this Boston team, but given the general strength of their opponents, I question whether they can reach this lofty total.
Celtics Prop Bets 2023
Jayson Tatum Wins NBA MVP (+1300)
We’ve come this far without mentioning Jayson Tatum, who is already unquestionably one of the best players in the NBA. The 24-year-old superstar has been emulating the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant for a while now, and he’s finally at the point where he ranks in the same tier.
Tatum had a phenomenal campaign in 2021-22, averaging career-high marks in points (26.9), rebounds (8.0), and assists (4.4) while connecting on 45.3% of his field goal attempts. He also turned in a pair of 50-point performances, one of which came in a clutch victory over Brooklyn.
Following Boston’s title run in 2022, I feel that Taco Jay is ready to take the next step and stand out from the crowd with an MVP-caliber season in 2023.
How to Bet Celtics Moneylines
New to NBA betting? Consider wagering on moneylines, which are the easiest bets to understand. All you have to do to win your moneyline bet is correctly pick the winner of a game. Sounds easy enough, right?
A team’s moneyline odds will vary depending upon each matchup. For example, the Celtics would be a heavier favorite against a team like the Knicks than they would be against the Nets. They might be a (-240) favorite vs the Knicks but a (-130) favorite over the Nets.
In the cases above, a $24 bet on Bosting beating New York would win you $10, while a $13 bet would turn you the same profit if they beat Brooklyn. Alternatively, a $10 bet on a team with (+130) odds would win you $13.

How to Bet Celtics Spreads
Spread betting is all about the margin of victory, and it goes both ways. If one team fails to cover the spread, the other one would cover by default (except in the case of a push, where the margin of victory is the exact same as the spread).
As is the case with moneylines, there are favorites and underdogs with spread bets, too. If the Celtics are playing the Knicks, for example, the spread wagers might look like this at a betting site: Knicks +9.5 (-110) vs Celtics -9.5 (-110).
In the given scenario, the Celtics would need to win the game by 10 points to cover the spread. Alternatively, if the Knicks win the game or lose by fewer than nine points, they would cover the spread.
Spread betting can be a good way to find value in a game where the moneyline doesn’t present the same opportunity for profit.

How to Bet Celtics Over/Unders
If you’re truly stumped on how a game will be decided but feel confident that it will at least be a high- or low-scoring contest, betting Over/Unders could be the way to go.
Here, all you have to do is decide whether the combined scoring margin in a game will be higher (Over) or lower (Under) than the projected total, which is set by sportsbooks before tip-off.
For example, in a Celtics vs Knicks game, the total might be set at 222.5 points. From there, you’d choose whether you believe there will be less than 222 points scored in the game, or 223+.
- 2021-22 Celtics Over/Under Record: 41-40-1
