NJ Sportsbook Promos | Best New Jersey Sportsbook Bonus Codes

Your Guide to the Best New Jersey Sportsbook Promos

We have reviewed the best New Jersey sportsbook promos available from legal and licensed sports betting sites in the state. Below, Anthony Cervino discusses how the bonus offers work in NJ.

Sports betting has seen exponential growth since states began legalizing it back in 2018. New Jersey was one of the first states to legalize sports betting, and the Garden State hasn’t been shy about welcoming new sportsbook operations to the party.

Because there is so much competition in the NJ mobile sports betting market, you need to find the right one to meet your needs as a bettor. One of the primary components of finding the right sportsbook for you is sign-up bonuses. New Jersey welcome bonuses are some of the most aggressive in the market.

They need to be aggressive, however. New Jersey is one of the most robust online sports betting markets in the United States, featuring over 20 sports betting operations. A lucrative NJ welcome promo will likely be the first reason a user decides to read a review about the sportsbook and ultimately sign up.

We know that welcome offers from an online sportsbook perspective are used to bring in new customers. But as a user, you can really clean up with bet credits, deposit matches, and as well other terrific offers I will dig into later in this review.

If you sign up for an NJ sportsbook and don’t take advantage of a welcome bonus, it’s like leaving free money on the table. You lose before you even place your first wager, which is not a great start.

In this review, I will dive into some of the top New Jersey welcomes bonuses to help make the right choice for you.

Are New Jersey Sportsbook Promos Worth It?

New Jersey Sportsbook promos are absolutely worth it. Below, I will list the reasons why you must take advantage of any offer that comes your way:

  • Whether an NJ welcome bonus comes in the form of a bet credit, a deposit match, or something in between, it is like leaving free money on the table. While you can’t cash out most bonuses, you can parlay them into real money if you win.
  • A lucrative New Jersey welcome promo might entice you to sign up for a platform you never knew existed. Although platforms that include Draftkings and FanDuel are nationally well-known, there are smaller operations that are just as secure and trustworthy that may offer better bonuses and odds.

Perhaps the only downside of an NJ welcome bonus is the small print. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of each welcome offer.

An offer might seem really good on the surface, but you might have to jump through hoops to attain the bonus. For example, some offers have monster rollover requirements. More of the shotty sportsbooks may exercise these practices than the ones I will go over today.

NJ Sportsbook Promo Code vs. Bonus Code

When you see a New Jersey sportsbook advertise bonus codes and promo codes, don’t fret and try to figure out the difference between them. There isn’t one. They are the same, just different terminology.

Do You Need A New Jersey Promo Code?

A promo code is used to receive a welcome bonus by the user. However, you don’t always need a promo code to activate a New Jersey welcome bonus.

If you’re here at thegameday.com, all you need to do is choose the sportsbook you want to sign up for and smash the “Get Bonus” button. That button will not only bring you to your selected sportsbook to sign up with, but it will also unlock your welcome bonus.

Best New Jersey Sports Betting Promos

NJ Sports Betting Deposit Match

This is my favorite type of New Jersey welcome bonus. When a sportsbook offers a deposit match, they will match your first-time deposit of a certain percentage with site credits you can only use at their betting platform. Most deposit matches I have seen are 100%.

Therefore, if you make a $50 deposit with real money, the sportsbook will give you 50% in site credits. There are limitations of how much the sportsbook will match, however. All sportsbooks are different, but I regularly see deposit matches between $250 and $500. Sometimes they can exceed $500, but it is a rarity.

Bet Credit

A bet credit is normally awarded within a welcome bonus offer. However, you need to put out real money to activate it.

If your initial real money wager wins, you move forward as you regularly would. If it loses, the sportsbook will either refund your account with bonus funds of the amount of your initial wager or they will credit your account with a bonus bet of the same amount of the initial wager.

NJ Sports Betting No-Deposit Bonus

I put the New Jersey No-Deposit Bonus third because they are scarce compared to the aforementioned welcome offer methods. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t like them. I wish there were more No-Deposit Bonuses.

A No-Deposit Bonus offer is when a sportsbook credits your account with betting credits or a bonus bet without ever making your first-time deposit. You will get the bonus just for signing up.

Bet & Get

A Bet and Get bonus offer is where a sportsbook will give you something for bets you place. You must make real money wagers to unlock this type of bonus.

For example, if you bet $50 in real money wagers within a certain time period in which the promotion is running, you will get a bonus $25 bet from the sportsbook.

Bet and Gets can sometimes be provided as welcome offers. They’re great because you don’t need to win your bet to unlock the bonus.

How To Pick the Best NJ Sportsbook Promos

  • Be sure to check out Playthrough Requirements. Just because a sportsbook offers a lucrative bonus, it could come with a 20x wagering requirement to unlock it. You might be better off taking a little less, especially if there is only a 1x Playthrough Requirement elsewhere.
  • Some sportsbooks might offer a terrific bonus with a light Playthrough Requirement, but their odds aren’t the greatest. This is another reason why you might want to take a lesser bonus at a platform that features more favorable odds.
  • Be sure to check out the expiration dates of bonus funds and bets. Some are 7 days and can go all the way up to 30 days.
  • Some sportsbooks offer a 50% deposit match, while others will give you 100%. 9 times out of 10, more is better, barring terms and conditions, of course.
  • Always choose the sportsbook with reduced juice or greater betting odds over the one with a greater New Jersey welcome-bonus return.

How To Use New Jersey Sportsbook Bonuses

There is no right or wrong way to use a New Jersey welcome bonus, just as long as you are actually using it before they expire.

For me, I like to use my welcome bonuses on wagers I am over-confident with, so I can turn them into real money. If allowed, I will also focus my welcome bonus funds on parlays to get the maximum return.

Do NJ Sports Betting Bonuses Have Restrictions or Limitations?

Just like anywhere else, New Jersey Betting Bonus offers come with limitations and restrictions. To find out what they are, you must read the individual terms and conditions that are attached to each offer.

Here are some of the common limitations and restrictions to look out for:

  • Unless otherwise noted, bet credits can not be used on parlays or Teasers. Some platforms will give you your bonus bet back in site credits, while others will give you a bonus bet of the same amount as your initial wager.
  • Most New Jersey welcome bonuses I have come across have an expiration date. If you don’t use your bonus funds or bonus bet within a certain timeframe, you will lose it.
  • In addition, I have never seen a welcome offer that credited your account back with real money. The sportsbook wants to keep you betting at their site. Therefore, you can only use your bonus to wager there. You can not cash out and go elsewhere. No one would be in business.
  • Some bonus bets will only pay out what you win and not the initial stake as well.
  • Some welcome offers may only be used on certain markets and within an odds range. For example, you may only be able to use your bonus on wagers with -200 odds. Many New Jersey welcome promo offers have a Playthrough Requirement. These will vary. Some sportsbooks have a 1X wagering requirement, while others can go up to 20X and greater.

What Are Wagering Requirements?

To simplify, a Wagering Requirement is a multiplier set by a given sportsbook that will signify the number of times you have to play through a bonus before you can withdraw any of your winnings.

There could be wagering requirements that are 5X, 10X, and even 40X. This is normally disclosed in a sportsbook’s terms and conditions. These will also be referred to as Playthrough Requirements.

Bonus Bets vs. NJ No-Deposit Bonuses

If you are new to the sports betting market, you might not know the difference between a bet credit and a No-Deposit Bonus. They could be confusing, so I will do my best to differentiate the two for you to give you a better understanding of what they are and how they work.

A Bonus Bet is a wager made with real money. If you lose, the sportsbook will refund your losses in bonus funds that you can use on their platform or with a bonus bet of the same amount as the initial wager. These rewards are normally doled out as part of a New Jersey welcome bonus package.

There are also bonus bets. However, bonus bets are normally featured in the promotions section of your sportsbook. They can pop up at any time, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for them when you sign in. You will find bonus bets in select welcome bonuses as well, but in my playing career, I find that welcome offer packages tend to give more bet credits than bonus bets.

You need to put out real money for a reward bet. A plain bonus bet is one offered by the sportsbook with no money out of pocket. These are normally limited to a certain event or market.

For No-Deposit bonuses, these are awarded as part of a welcome offer just for signing up. You don’t need to make a first-time deposit with real money or anything like that. Simply sign up and activate your free money.

However, just because it is free money doesn’t mean you can cash it out. You must use your No-Deposit bonus to place wagers at the sportsbook platform that gave it to you.

Look for More Than One New Jersey Sportsbook Promo

I’ve been writing sportsbook-centric reviews and NFL betting content at The Game Day for over a year now. In almost everything I’ve written, I try to stress the point of having multiple sports betting accounts at your disposal.

Having one or two sportsbook accounts limits you as a bettor. All sportsbooks are not created equally. They have different markets to bet on, various betting types, diversified features, and variance in promotional offers and rewards.

Deploying ample sports betting accounts will also allow you to shop lines and give yourself a mathematical edge over the house. Some books might be slower and react to the news differently, which could impact the line. If you have enough options, you can always find a sportsbook that is sleeping and gain an edge over the odds.

We know that the majority of sportsbooks feature aggressive welcome offers. Whether it’s a bet credit or a deposit bonus, you will get the most out of your money deposits by activating these welcome promos.

If you deposit $50 into 10 different sports betting accounts and each sportsbook matches your first-time deposit, it is like getting $100 in each of your accounts. Essentially, you are turning $500 to $1000 of betting funds merely by signing up for 10 new accounts.
