Golden Knights vs Stars Predictions & Best Bets

Last Updated: May 28, 2023

The Dallas Stars can force a do-or-die Game 7 with a win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Western Conference final on Monday in Dallas.

The Stars won their second straight game, 4-2, behind two goals from Ty Dellandrea, a two-assist game from Thomas Harley, and goalie Jake Oettinger‘s 27-save performance.

Ivan Barbashev and Chandler Stephenson each scored for Vegas, and forward Jonathan Marchessault had two assists. Adin Hill made 30 saves for his third straight 30-plus save performance.

Here’s a look at what to expect in Game 6 between Dallas and Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 6 Odds

NHL Western Conference final Game 6 lines are current as of Sunday, May 28, at 4 p.m. ET, and reference DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-130) • Golden Knights (+110)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+200) • Golden Knights +1.5 (-240)
  • Total Goals: Over 5.5 (-115) • Under 5.5 (-105)

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 6 Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Stars 2 (OT)

The crowd in Dallas should be rocking Monday, but Golden Knights have been a great road team all season. They’d better win Game 6, lest they find themselves in danger of blowing a 3-0 lead.

Vegas has had leads in each of the past two games, but the Stars rebounded to win Game 4 in overtime then rallied twice in Game 5. The Stars have gotten off the mat without captain Jamie Benn, who was suspended but is expected to return for another do-or-die game.

Three of the first five games have been decided in overtime. Dallas won its first overtime game of the playoffs to avoid a sweep in Game 4, but I think if it finds itself in extra time again, the Golden Knights should be able to close the door.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 6 Best Bets

Golden Knights ML (-130)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Vegas has had only two three-game losing streaks all season, though the playoffs have a tendency to magnify small samples. Still, the Golden Knights are 5-2 on the road and clinched the second round series in Game 6 in Edmonton.

Oettinger has been a different goaltender on home ice vs the road in these playoffs, and Stars forward Jason Robertson continues to heat up. But the Golden Knights should find a way to close out the Stars.

Take them to do so as our NHL bet of the day.

Under 5.5 Goals (-115)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

The Under is 3-2 in this series, and only one of the three one-goal games has triggered the Over.

Tensions should be high, since the home crowd could watch the Stars’ season end Monday. Plus, you can bet both coaches will want to play tight, structured defense.

The Golden Knights have played that way much of the season, and as referenced above, Oettinger has a .922 save percentage, 2.36 goals-against average, and 5.4 goals-saved above average at all situations.

As long as Hill is mentally strong, after allowing a couple of iffy goals in Game 5, the Under should be in good shape.

The Vegas Golden Knights can advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2018 with a win over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of the Western Conference final on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena.

The Stars staved off elimination with a dramatic 3-2 win Thursday in Dallas. Jason Robertson scored twice, and Joe Pavelski scored the game-winning goal on the power play at 3:18 of overtime.

Jonathan Marchessault and William Karlsson each scored for Vegas, and goalie Adin Hill made 39 saves.

Here’s a look at what to expect in Game 5 between Dallas and Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 5 Odds

NHL Western Conference final Game 5 lines are current as of Friday, May 26, at noon ET, and reference DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Golden Knights (-135) • Stars (+105)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+195) • Golden Knights +1.5 (-235)
  • Total Goals: Over 5.5 (-110) • Under 5.5 (-110)

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 5 Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Stars 2

Facing elimination without captain Jamie Benn, Dallas got off the mat by rallying twice and claiming its first overtime victory of the postseason.

The Stars will be in a similar situation in Game 5, without Benn and needing a solid road effort. Unfortunately, Dallas has been dreadful away from home in the playoffs, sporting a 3-5 record and -7 goal differential.

Goalie Jake Oettinger has been downright bad on the road in the playoffs, which is a big part of Dallas’ struggles away from home. Oettinger has the worst all-situation goals-saved above average of any goalie in the playoffs (-8.1) and has a .868 save percentage and 3.68 goals-against average.

The Golden Knights have been super on home ice this postseason, too. Vegas is 6-2 at T-Mobile Arena and is on a three-game win streak that includes a pair of OT wins in Games 1 and 2.

Vegas has been the most consistent team in the Western Conference all season. I can’t foresee the Golden Knights failing to clinch the West in Game 5.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 5 Best Bets

Golden Knights ML (-135)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Sweeping a team, especially one as good as Dallas, is tough. But Benn will still be out of the lineup, serving the final game of his two-game suspension for cross-checking Vegas captain Mark Stone, making things difficult on the Stars.

The Golden Knights need to stay out of the box, since the Stars’ PP is red-hot, and their own PK has struggled mightily. Plus, Vegas has outscored the Stars 11-4 at even strength and 2-1 in Game 4.

The Golden Knights were only done in by their inability to score on their only power play in Game 4 and the fact they gave up goals on each of their two-man advantages against.

Vegas should prepare for Dallas’ best again, but the Golden Knights earned some wiggle room by winning the first three games, and they’ll be buoyed by the home crowd, who didn’t get to see them clinch the Campbell Bowl in 2018.

Take Vegas to close out Dallas as our NHL bet of the day.

Under 5.5 Goals (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Hill has been awesome in this series, stopping 132 of 140 shots (.943) and pitching a shutout in Game 3. He was great in Game 4 even though he allowed three goals on 42 shots.

Oettinger had a bounce-back effort in Game 4, but he has surrendered at least three goals in six of his eight road playoff starts this playoff. However, he should be better with the Stars’ season on the line.

Plus, the Under has hit in three straight games after a 4-3 outcome in Game 1. Look for that trend to continue.

The Vegas Golden Knights can sweep their way back to the Stanley Cup final with a win over the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the Western Conference final on Thursday in Dallas.

Vegas took a commanding 3-0 advantage with a dominant 4-0 victory over Dallas in Game 3 at American Airlines Center. The Golden Knights chased Stars goalie Jake Oettinger by scoring three goals on five shots in the first 7:10, and goalie Adin Hill made 34 saves for his second-career playoff shutout.

Ivan Barbashev had three points, including a first-period power-play goal after Dallas captain Jamie Benn was assessed a major penalty for slashing Vegas captain Mark Stone. Forward Niclas Roy also had two points.

Here’s the Game 4 outlook for Dallas vs Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 4 Odds

NHL Western Conference final Game 4 lines are current as of Wednesday, May 24, at 3 p.m. ET, and reference DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-125) • Golden Knights (+105)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+205) • Golden Knights +1.5 (-245)
  • Total Goals: Over 5.5 (-110) • Under 5.5 (-110)

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 4 Prediction

Stars 3, Golden Knights 2

Give Dallas credit, it’s going down fighting. The Stars were awful in goal, undisciplined, and downright dumb in Game 3.

But they weren’t bad. Dallas outshot Vegas 34-16, and despite scoring three even-strength goals, the Golden Knights had only 0.42 Expected Goals at 5-on-5 and just 1.14 in all situations in Game 3.

That’s no consolation to Stars fans, who also got caught up in the team’s frustration. The second period ended early when fans hurled bottles and other items onto the ice.

It is hard to imagine a worse overall outcome for the Stars. I have to think they’ll harness that frustration into a better effort and send their fans home happy in what will probably be their final home game of the season.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 4 Best Bets

Stars ML (-125)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Even with his dreadful effort in Game 3, Oettinger has still been one of the best goalies on home ice in the postseason. He has a .918 save percentage, 2.42 goals-against average, and 3.77 goals-saved above average in eight home starts this postseason.

If Oettinger settles in and makes a few early saves, the Stars will be able to settle in and get into their game. Or if Dallas can score early and build an early lead, it’ll be able to play a more structured game.

The Golden Knights have been great on the road all season and are 5-1 in away games this postseason. Plus, the Stars have been terrible in overtime, which means if the game goes beyond 60 minutes, it’ll be Vegas’ to lose.

But I think the Stars will put forth a great effort on home ice and extend the series. Take Dallas to win Game 4 as the NHL bet of the day.

Under 5.5 Goals (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

As stated above, the Stars haven’t been bad defensively. They have a 54.9 all-situation Corsi-For percentage, 57.6 Expected Goals percentage, and 56 Shots-For percentage.

However, the goaltending has been an abomination. Hill has vastly outplayed Oettinger, a surprising development considering the Stars goalie is arguably the top netminder in the game.

Still, the Under is 2-1 in the series, even with Vegas’ dominant effort in Game 3. The Stars will need Oettinger to be great in Game 4 if they’re going to extend the series, and even if he isn’t, Hill will probably be stingy again since he’s allowed just 14 goals on 230 shots (.939 save percentage) since taking over for Laurent Brossoit in the second round against Edmonton.

The Vegas Golden Knights can take a commanding series lead over the Dallas Stars in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Tuesday in Dallas.

The Golden Knights boosted their series lead to 2-0 with a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime win in Game 2 where Chandler Stephenson, Jonathan Marchessault, and captain Mark Stone each recorded a goal and an assist. Marchessault tied the game with 2:22 in regulation, and Stephenson scored the game-winner at 1:12 of the extra session.

Ryan Suter had two assists, and Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen each scored for Dallas, which dropped its third straight road game and fell to 0-4 in overtime during the playoffs.

Here’s a look at what to expect for the pivotal Game 3 between Dallas and Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 3 Odds

NHL Western Conference Final Game 3 lines are current as of Monday, May 22, at 11 a.m. ET, and reference DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Stars (-135) • Golden Knights (+115)
  • Puck Line: Stars -1.5 (+190) • Golden Knights +1.5 (-225)
  • Total Goals: Over 5.5 (-115) • Under 5.5 (-105)

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 3 Prediction

Stars 4, Golden Knights 2

Dallas is reeling after two straight overtime losses. Yet, the Stars have been exceptional on home ice during the playoffs, boasting a 5-2 record and plus-12 goal differential in games at American Airlines Center.

The Stars have played better defensively on home ice, and goalie Jake Oettinger has been far superior in Dallas, too. Oettinger has a .929 save percentage, 2.07 goals-against average and 6.35 goals-saved above average in seven games at the AAC, compared with .868/3.68/minus-7.89 in eight road games these playoffs, per Natural Stat Trick.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 3 Best Bets

Stars ML (-135)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Dallas probably deserves to be even in the series based on how it played in Game 2. The Stars outshot the Golden Knights 28-24, won the Expected Goals 3.4-2.7, controlled the faceoff dot by winning 33 of 60 draws, and were two-and-a-half minutes from leaving Vegas with a split.

Despite trailing, the Stars have to be OK with how the series is trending since Robertson has scored twice, including a power-play goal in Game 2. If Dallas can clean up some little things — like staying out of the penalty box or executing line changes, each of which cost it a goal in Game 2 — it has to think it’ll be able to get back in the series.

Look for the Stars to rebound, and take them to score a crucial win as our NHL bet of the day.

Stars -1.5 (+190)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.5 Units

Each of the first two games has been decided by one goal, but the Stars have won four of their five home games by at least two goals. Their only one-goal victory on home ice came in the ultra-tense Game 7 against the Kraken, and they still came 19 seconds from a multi-goal win before Oliver Bjorkstrand scored at 19:41.

At these odds, and given Dallas’ drastic difference between home and road, a sprinkle on the Stars to cover the puck line is a worthy wager.

The Vegas Golden Knights will try to take a 2-0 advantage over the Dallas Stars in Game 2 of the Western Conference final at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Game 1 was wildly entertaining, with four goals in the third period then settled on Brett Howden‘s game-winning goal at 1:35 of OT, lifting the Golden Knights past the Stars.

Here’s a look at Game 2 between Dallas and Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 2 Odds

NHL West final Game 2 lines are current as of Saturday, May 20, at 5 p.m. ET and reference DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Golden Knights (-125) • Stars (+105)
  • Puck Line: Golden Knights -1.5 (+210) • Stars +1.5 (-250)
  • Total Goals: Over 5.5 (-110) • Under 5.5 (-110)

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 2 Prediction

Stars 4, Golden Knights 2

Dallas is now 0-3 in Game 1s with each game decided in overtime. The Golden Knights have not held a 2-0 playoff-series advantage since winning the initial two in the 2020 first round against Chicago.

If the Golden Knights win Game 2 then the series might be extremely short. These are two of the best teams in the Western Conference and have been all season.

Maybe Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger will play better and stop fewer than three goals, but he has surrendered at least three goals in six of his past eight road starts dating back to 2022.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 2 Best Bets

Stars ML (+105)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Dallas has lost its initial road game in each of the first three series but rallied to win the following affair in each of the two series. Vegas has also split the first two games in each of the first two series, including its Game 2 loss to Edmonton in the second round.

The Stars weathered an early storm from Vegas then nearly stole the victory when Jamie Benn tied Game 1 with less than two minutes left. They should be better from the outset.

I’m not sure the Stars will win the series, but they are good enough to make this a long series. Take Dallas to win Game 2 as our NHL bet of the day.

Over 5.5 Goals (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

These are two great offensive teams, and Dallas forward Jason Robertson, who scored 46 regular-season goals, is on the board in the series.

There’s been at least six goals in 10 of the 12 Golden Knights games this playoff and nine of Dallas’ 14. Look for the trend to continue in Game 2.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 1 Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars will square off in Game 1 of the Western Conference final on Friday at T-Mobile Arena.

Vegas is in the final four for the fourth time in six seasons and third time in the past four years. The Golden Knights are 8-3 in the playoffs and fresh off a six-game second-round series win over the Edmonton Oilers.

The Stars and Golden Knights met in the conference final in 2020, with Dallas scoring a five-game victory in the bubble in Edmonton. Dallas is 8-5 in the playoffs after claiming a seven-game win over the Seattle Kraken in the second round.

Here’s a look at what to expect for Game 1 between Dallas and Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 1 Odds

NHL West final Game 1 lines are current as of Tuesday, May 16, at 3 p.m. ET and reference DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Golden Knights (-135) • Stars (+115)
  • Puck Line: Golden Knights -1.5 (+190) • Stars +1.5 (-225)
  • Total Goals: Over 5.5 (-110) • Under 5.5 (-110)

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 1 Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Stars 3

The Stars are giving up almost three goals per game through 13 playoff games, but if that continues, they’ll have a hard time keeping up with the high-scoring, yet defensively responsible Golden Knights. Vegas is scoring 3.72 goals per game in the postseason.

There is a high probability of nerves, especially from Hill, who will be making his first appearance in the final four. But he has been extremely resilient, including in the all-important Game 6, where he stopped 39 consecutive shots after surrendering two goals on the first two shots faced.

This series should be entertaining since the star power is off the charts.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 1 Best Bets

Golden Knights ML (-135)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

This has been the playoff of multi-goal wins. Nine of Vegas’ 11 games have been decided by two-plus goals, and eight of Dallas’ 13 have been settled by more than one goal.

But this is the conference final, and it may be high-scoring, but it should also be close.

Plus, the odds are lucrative enough to take Vegas to win as our NHL bet of the day.

Over 5.5 Goals (-110)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

Both teams are averaging more than three goals per game for the playoffs, and each is giving up more than three, as well. I think Vegas will figure out how to control the pace at some point during the series, but until that happens, look for a fun, free-wheeling, and high-scoring game.

The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars are set to square off in the Western Conference final for the second time in four seasons.

Vegas is making its fourth conference finals appearance in its six-season existence and its third trip to the final four in the past four seasons. The Golden Knights are 8-3 through two rounds and polished off the offensively-minded Edmonton Oilers in six games in the second round.

Dallas, meanwhile, is 8-5 and fresh off a seven-game series win over the upstart Seattle Kraken in the second round. Stars coach, Peter DeBoer, who coached the Golden Knights to consecutive conference-final appearances in 2020 and 2021, has now guided four different teams to the final four in his initial year behind the bench.

Here’s a look at what should be a highly entertaining series between Dallas and Vegas.

Golden Knights vs Stars Series Odds

Western Conference Finals NHL odds reference DraftKings Sportsbook and are current as of Tuesday, May 16.

Odds To Win Western Conference Final

  • Golden Knights (-140)
  • Stars (+120)

The Golden Knights were the top seed in the Western Conference and finished three points ahead of Dallas. Thus, they have home-ice advantage, and Vegas is 4-2 during the playoff season at T-Mobile Arena, which is why it has a 58-percent implied probability.

The Stars are just 3-3 on the road in the playoffs but have a 5-2 record at American Airlines Center, with a pair of OT defeats.

Golden Knights vs Stars Series Prediction

Golden Knights Win in 6 Games

This series should be extremely even, but there are a lot of trends that suggest Vegas would need to win this series in fewer than seven games. DeBoer is 7-0 in Game 7s while coaching in the NHL.

Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger has made the second-most saves of any goalie through two Game 7s.

The Stars have a big advantage in goal with Oettinger against journeyman Adin Hill, who took over for Laurent Brossoit in Game 3 of Vegas’ second-round series against the Oilers. Still, Vegas has an advantage in every other facet, especially on defense where it can roll out a pair with either Alex Pietrangelo or Shea Theodore for three-quarters of the game.

Plus, the Golden Knights have been an exceptional road team all season, and that has carried over to the postseason. After winning 26 of 41 road games, and posting the second-best away points percentage during the regular season (.732), Vegas is 4-1 in road games this postseason and clinched its second-round win over the Oilers at Rogers Place.

Dallas has a minus-5 goal differential in road games during the postseason, with each of its road losses coming by at least three goals. If the Stars can’t steal a game or two in Vegas then this could be a short series.

Golden Knights vs Stars Series Prop Bets

Golden Knights Win Series (-140)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

The Golden Knights are a slight favorite due to their clear defensive advantage, and Hill has been good enough to mitigate any advantage Oettinger may provide. Plus, Oettinger wasn’t superb in Dallas’ seven-game win over Seattle, allowing 22 goals and getting pulled twice.

Vegas seems far more capable of controlling a game’s pace, especially on the road, but also has the offensive firepower to match Dallas’ stars. Forwards Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Jonathan Marchessault, and Chandler Stephenson each have 10-plus postseason points.

Golden Knights -1.5 Games (+150)

DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 Unit

As stated above, the Stars may retake the advantage if this series gets to seven. Plus, the Golden Knights have enough of an advantage over the Stars, especially after they took care of business in six against the Oilers, to cover a 1.5-game spread.
