The New Orleans Saints will hope to keep their dimming playoff hopes alive while the home Philadelphia Eagles will try for the second time to clinch home-field advantage when these two teams meet in Week 17.

Philadelphia had a five-game win streak snapped at the hands of Dallas last week, and dropped to 13-2 on the season. All they need is a win in the next two weeks to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

New Orleans will need help from Tampa and Carolina but still has a slim chance at the playoffs after winning their last two games. The Saints are 6-9 but still have to face the division-rival Panthers, leaving them with a chance to sneak if Tampa were to lose out.

Let’s dig into our New Orleans vs Philadelphia best bets for this Week 17 matchup.

Saints vs Eagles Odds

The Eagles have plenty left to play for this week after failing to clinch the NFC East and the No. 1 playoff seed. This means Jalen Hurts could make his return against the Saints.

If Hurts does give it a go, the Eagles will likely close as more than a touchdown favorite.

Take a look at the best Saints odds and Eagles odds for the 2022 NFL season.

Saints vs Eagles Implied Totals

Eagles 25.25, Saints 18.75

The Eagles are a 6.5-point favorite with a total set at 44 as of Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. EST.

Philadelphia has been one of the best teams, if not the best, in the NFL this season, and they should have no problem rolling through the Saints with a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed on the line.

Saints vs Eagles Prediction

Eagles 27, Saints 20

Philadelphia is dealing with a couple of key injuries, including MVP candidate quarterback Jalen Hurts and offensive tackle Lane Johnson.

Even if Hurts doesn’t give it a go, Gardner Minshew proved that he’s one of the best backup options in the NFL.

The Eagles’ offense picked up right where they left off last week with Minshew, racking up 442 yards and 34 points. The problem was the four turnovers, including two in their final three possessions.

But that was on the road against a divisional rival and a better opponent.

Now, with a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC at home, they should have no problem beating the Saints this week.

New Orleans has been one of the most dysfunctional offenses in the NFL with Andy Dalton taking most of the snaps at quarterback.

The 35-year-old Dalton has struggled. He’s completed 66.2% of his passes but for just 2,495 yards and 17 touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Taysom Hill, the Swiss-army knife who plays tight-end and quarterback in certain packages, gives the Saints’ offense a unique wrinkle.

Hill, paired with superstar Alvin Kamara. gives the Saints’ run game a hint of life, but it won’t be enough against a stout Eagles defense that is second in the league in total defense.

The Eagles’ defense is sound and will be able to handle the Saints’ turbulent offense, while the Eagles’ offense will focus the run game and not beating themselves as they go on to beat the Saints relatively handily at home.

Saints vs Eagles Best Bets

Eagles -6.5 (-110) at BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Consider the (potential) return of Jalen Hurts, at home, with a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed against an inferior opponent, and Philly will roll from the jump to handle an outmatched Saints team with relative ease.

Over 44 Points (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

The Saints have shown some fire on the defensive side of the ball, but are as stagnant as it gets offensively.

Philadelphia’s offense is good enough to pour it on the Saints if they need to, but in a “just win" scenario, they’ll look to control the clock and establish the run early and often.

They’ll have success doing so and will be able to bleed significant portions of the clock in the second half to hold this total Under.
