Dolphins vs Jaguars Predictions
Score Pick: Jaguars 28, Dolphins 21
The 2023 season is a big one for the Jaguars, and a lot is expected from Trevor Lawrence and head coach Doug Pederson. The Jags should walk all over the rest of the AFC South with a mix of youth, talent, and leadership.
So far, the preseason has been fantastic for Jacksonville, with a 2-0 record and two explosive games from their offense. CJ Beathard and Nathan Rourke look great under center, while Tank Bigsby has 122 yards in the first two preseason games.
In brief action, Lawrence looked as expected. He went 5-for-6 with 36 yards with one TD and one INT. If Lawrence can limit INTs again in 2023, he could take a massive leap forward.
Week 3 is still the preseason, and the Dolphins had a very good defense last season, but Miami hasn’t looked great on either side of the ball in the first two weeks of the preseason.
The Jags offense is rolling and should walk away with an SU and ATS win in Week 3.
Dolphins vs Jaguars Best Bets & Props
Jaguars -6.5 (-110)
BetMGM Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
Our NFL bet of the day for the Dolphins and Jaguars is on the home team to cover 6.5 points on the back of their high-powered offense and motivated coach.
One reason to fade the Dolphins this week is they are unlikely to give starting Tua Tagovailoa many reps with the offense. Coach Mike McDaniel said he would play more than a series but less than half. The Dolphins’ offense needs work with their starter but will likely see more of Skylar Thompson on Saturday night. Mike White is still in concussion protocol.
With Tua playing limited minutes, the Dolphins become a tough team to trust, considering Lawrence is expected to play the entire first half with the other Jaguars starters.
We’re left with the first half being Lawrence and the Jaguars versus some Miami starters and some guys who will be selling timeshares this time next week.
Jaguars (-270)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
Considering we are taking the Jaguars to cover as -6.5 point betting favorites, there is no harm in adding an ML play to the mix. The Jaguars are already 2-0 outright during the preseason and will have a significant advantage with their starter playing most, if not all, of the first half. The Dolphins haven’t looked very impressive this preseason, and without all of their offensive starters logging quality minutes, Miami is a sub-par underdog.
Over 41 (-110)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
Despite their backup quarterbacks getting a lot of reps, the Jaguars offense has put up many points in their first two games of the preseason. With a combined total of 53 points in their last eight quarters, we can expect the offense to be even more explosive with starters logging more playing time.
It takes two to tango, and the Dolphins put up 28 points in Week 2 against the Texans and will be chomping at the bit to take on a Jags defense that allowed the 24th most yards to opponents in 2022 (352).
