Eagles vs Buccaneers Prediction

Last Updated: Sep 27, 2024

Week 4 of the NFL season features a 2023 playoffs rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1). The two will take the field at Raymond James Stadium this Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. ET.

Philadelphia has been inconsistent to begin the year, picking up wins over the Packers and Saints while blowing a late lead in a loss to the Falcons. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay will be looking to get back on track following a shocking loss to the Broncos in Week 3.

See below for the latest Eagles vs Buccaneers odds, plus my prediction and best bets for this NFC showdown.

Eagles vs Buccaneers Odds

NFL odds are current as of Friday, Sept. 27, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

  • Moneyline: Eagles (-125) vs Buccaneers (+105)
  • Spread: Eagles -1.5 (-112) vs Buccaneers +1.5 (-108)
  • Over/Under: Over 42.5 (-110) / Under 42.5 (-110)

Eagles vs Buccaneers Prediction

Buccaneers 26, Eagles 21

The Bucs have been out-gained in most of their games so far, and yet, they continue to find ways to win. Baker Mayfield has had a strong start to the 2024 campaign, already throwing for six touchdowns and finding receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans on big plays.

The loss to Denver was inexcusable, but I feel good about this team’s chances of bouncing back against the banged-up Eagles. Philadelphia could also be without wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, meaning it may have to lean even more heavily on Saquon Barkley and the ground game.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing — Tampa Bay looks weak against the run — but the Eagles may struggle to string together drives if the offense gets too predictable. This also looks like a solid opportunity for Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving, who gets to take on a Philadelphia defense that ranks 31st in opponent yards per carry.

Both teams should have productive days on offense, but Tampa Bay has been better at protecting the ball, and it has the benefit of playing this one in front of a favorable crowd, too. The odds indicate a toss-up, but I’m on the Bucs to be in command.

Sportsbook Play of the Day

Eagles vs Buccaneers Best Bets

Buccaneers +1.5 (-108) vs Eagles

I have a tough time betting against home underdogs — especially when the margins are this close. Philadelphia and Tampa Bay aren’t far off in terms of talent and expectations, but the Buccaneers have a much clearer bill of health heading into Sunday’s tilt, and they’ll be eager to put Week 3’s loss behind them.

Look for the Buccaneers to play motivated football and make this your NFL bet of the day.

Over 42.5 Points (-110)

Tampa Bay can’t stop the run, but this is one of the few teams to find consistent success scoring through the air early in the season. It helps to have a big target like Evans near the end zone, and he should be targeted early and often.

I fully expect Philadelphia to establish the run out of the gate, and Barkley should be in for a massive outing. Assuming he can get in for a few scores on his own, this could quickly become a shootout.

This line seems to be drawing a bit too much from Week 3’s results, when the Eagles and Buccaneers combined for just 22 points in their respective matchups. Look for more offense on Sunday and take the Over at 42.5 points.
