Here’s our Week 6 Recap with NFL scores, highlights, betting results (Against the Spread, Over/Under and Moneyline), top play, and more.
Week 6 Recap: NFL scores
Atlanta Falcons 40, Minnesota Vikings 23
Backed by a revived performance from Julio Jones and Matt Ryan, the Atlanta Falcons (1-5) registered their first victory of the season over the Minnesota Vikings (1-5). Fueled by a 23-0 run to start the game, Atlanta induced 3 interceptions from Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins. Most of the production by the Vikings came via rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson when the game was already out of reach, but his 2-TD effort helped him stand out once again.[esi adrotate cache="public" group="1" ttl="60"]
Top Fantasy Players: ATL QB Matt Ryan (371 passing yards, 4 TDs) … MIN WR Justin Jefferson (9 receptions, 166 yards, 2 TDs) … ATL WR Julio Jones (8 receptions, 137 yards, 2 TDs) … MIN QB Kirk Cousins (343 passing yards, 3 TDs, 3 INTs) Betting Results: With the defenses of both teams remaining their weakest links, it should come as little to no surprise that the Over/Under would be crushed with 63 total points scored. The Falcons easily covered their +4 with the outright win, and the +175 Moneyline offered a nice underdog payoff. Top Play: For the second time in his early career, Jefferson was one of the top wide receivers on Sunday. Though this play came when the Vikes were down by 25, he maneuvered his way into the end zone on a 48-yard score.Chicago Bears 23, Carolina Panthers 16
Continuing to assert a strong defense, the Chicago Bears (5-1) slowed the offense of the Carolina Panthers (3-3). It is a bend-but-don’t-break philosophy for the Bears defense. This marks the third straight game in which the Bears have allowed one touchdown. Led by interceptions from Tashaun Gipson and Deandre Houston-Carson, this would serve as the second time this season that Teddy Bridgewater would throw for multiple interceptions an no touchdown. Top Fantasy Players: CHI QB Nick Foles (198 passing yards, 1 TD) … CAR WR D.J. Moore (5 receptions, 93 yards) … CHI RB David Montgomery (58 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 39 receiving yards) … CAR RB Mike Davis (52 rushing yards, 1 TD, 2 receptions, 3 receiving yards) Betting Results: With Bears continuing to oppose their will defensively, this game managed the Under 44.5. The oddsmakers provided the Panthers a hometown favorite line of -110, so if you made the decision to take advantage of +115 odds on the Bears side, you were better off for it. Top Play: The offenses in this game lacked highlight plays, but this key interception by Houston-Carson in the fourth quarter closed the book on a potential Panthers comeback.Indianapolis Colts 31, Cincinnati Bengals 27
Led by an unlikely hero in Trey Burton, the Indianapolis Colts (4-2) held off the Cincinnati Bengals (1-4-1) in a high-scoring affair. While the Colts scored in only two out of the four quarters, allowing just one field goal in the second half would be the difference maker. Going against grizzled veteran Philip Rivers, this would mark the fourth time this season that Joe Burrow would throw for 300+ yards and his third game without having a single touchdown pass. Top Fantasy Players: IND QB Philip Rivers (371 passing yards, 3 TDs, 1 interception) … CIN WR Tee Higgins (6 receptions, 125 receiving yards) … IND TE Trey Burton (4 receptions, 58 receiving yards, 1 yard rushing, 2 TDs) … CIN WR A.J. Green (8 receptions, 96 receiving yards) Betting Results: Despite Joe Burrow not throwing for a single touchdown, the Bengals scoring almost 10 points more than their implied point total crushed the 46.5 Over/Under. The other path to winning in this matchup would have been taking the Bengals at +8. Top Play: After the Bengals came out swinging in the first quarter, the Colts offense and this late interception by Jalen Collins sealed the Indianapolis win.Detroit Lions 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 16
Scoring 30 or more points for the first time since Week 8 of last season, the Detroit Lions (2-3) came roaring out of their bye week to silence Gardner Minshew and hand the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) their fifth straight loss of the season. While Matthew Stafford has notoriously been the player to lead the Lions to victory, it was the efforts from rookie running back D’Andre Swift that would highlight this game. Historically, Swift would serve as the first Lions rookie with 100+ yards rushing and two touchdowns since 1989. Top Fantasy Players: DET RB D’Andre Swift (116 rushing yards, 2 TDs, 3 receptions, 7 receiving yards) … JAX WR Keelan Cole (6 receptions, 143 receiving yards) … DET WR Kenny Golladay (4 receptions, 105 receiving yards) … JAX QB Gardner Minshew (243 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 rushing touchdown)
New York Giants 20, Washington Football Team 19
While the game was not the prettiest, Daniel Jones‘ first touchdown pass since Week 1 would help propel the New York Giants (1-5) to a victory against the Washington Football Team (1-5). This game would also mark the Giants’ first win at home since Week 4 of last season, and Giants fans would have the defense to thank for it. While the Washington offense is far from formidable, the Giants defense would record three sacks, one interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Top Fantasy Players: NYG DST Giants (3 sacks, 1 int, 1 fumble recovery) … WAS QB Kyle Allen (280 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 int) … NYG QB Daniel Jones (112 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 int, 74 rushing yards) … WAS RB J.D. McKissic (41 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 43 receiving yards) Betting Results: This was one of the more lackluster games on Sunday. These two teams failed to eclipse the Over/Under of 43 points. With Washington losing by one point, the Football Team cashed in on +3 (-120). Top Play: Late in the first quarter, Daniel Jones would end his touchdown drought with this near-perfect TD throw to Darius Slayton.Baltimore Ravens 30, Philadelphia Eagles 28
Despite a late surge from the Philadelphia Eagles (1-4-1), the Baltimore Ravens (5-1) would leave the city of brotherly love with a win. This would mark the Ravens’ third all-time win against the Eagles — but their first victory in Philadelphia. Both Lamar Jackson and Carson Wentz would record a rushing touchdown, but Jackson’s 108 rushing yards made the difference. Top Fantasy Players: BAL QB Lamar Jackson (186 passing yards, 1 TD, 108 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD) … PHI QB Carson Wentz (213 passing yards, 2 TDs, 49 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD) … BAL K Justin Tucker (3 field goals, 3 extra points) … PHI WR Travis Fulgham (6 receptions, 75 receiving yards, 1 touchdown) Betting Results: Despite the Ravens being favored at -8, the strong showing from the Eagles would have their +8 (-110) odds pay out. If you bet the Over of 46.5 points, you have the Eagles’ 22 fourth-quarter points to thank. Top Play: While this was not a score that put the game out of reach, those who roster Lamar Jackson in fantasy football were elated to see this touchdown run.Pittsburgh Steelers 38, Cleveland Browns 7
In what was billed as battle in the north, the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0) defense came up big against Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns (4-2). The Steelers defense continues to be one of the best in the NFL. It recorded 4 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble. With this win, the Steelers now stand with the Tennessee Titans (5-0) as the only two undefeated teams remaining in the NFL.[esi sportsbookgrid num=3 ttl=”0″]
Top Fantasy Players: PIT WR Chase Claypool (4 receptions, 74 receiving yards, 7 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD) … CLE TE Austin Hooper (5 receptions, 52 receiving yards) … PIT DST Steelers (4 sacks, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble) … CLE WR Rashard Higgins (1 reception, 13 receiving yards, 1 touchdown) Betting Results: The Steelers crushed their -3.5 point spread this week. With the Browns finishing well below their implied point total, hitting the over on the 51 points would be unattainable. Top Play: While the game was already out of reach, Chase Claypool was able to reward those who roster him in fantasy with this touchdown run.
