Week 10 Fantasy Basketball Sleepers: Josh Jackson Gets More Playing Time

Last Updated: Feb 22, 2021

Kev Mahserejian offers up his Week 10 Fantasy Basketball Sleepers, and his NBA Week 10 Sleeper Picks might include waiver-wire pickups who’ve fallen through the cracks into free agency. Roster percentages refer to figures from Yahoo! Sports fantasy basketball leagues.

Week 10 Fantasy Basketball Sleepers

Josh Jackson, SG/SF, Detroit Pistons (46% rostered)

This is an ugly addition but one that must be made for the time being. Josh Jackson, despite his inefficiency, is fantasy-relevant due to his counting stats. Jackson can contribute to points, rebounds, assists, threes, and both stocks but will hit your FG, FT, and TO. With PG Delon Wright (groin) out for at least the next two weeks, Jackson will take over as the second option in Detroit alongside Jerami Grant.

Jackson is a former fourth-overall pick who has become a journeyman of sorts as he lands on his third team in three years. Off-court issues and a lack of production in his first few years resulted in the Suns giving up on him despite their investment and now Jackson finds himself on the worst team in the NBA. He is being given a chance to work through rough patches in Detroit as they have more incentive to lose than win. Unless the Pistons trade for help in Wright’s absence, expect more Jackson than necessary.

Dorian Finney-Smith, SF/PF, Dallas Mavericks (19% rostered)

Dorian Finney-Smith is asserting himself as a crucial piece of the Mavericks given how poor Dwight Powell has been post-Achilles injury. DFS is averaging a career-high in minutes and 3-point efficiency, but that has not translated to more counting stats given his dip in usage with Kristaps Porzingis back in the fold.

Dallas has won 5 of their past 7 games and DFS can be considered a large reason why as he has made half of his attempted threes while playing 33 minutes per game. Over this stretch, he is also averaging 10.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.3 threes, and 1.1 stocks on a 56.5% FG. He hardly shoots free throws and doesn’t turn the ball over so those categories are left unharmed.

DFS plays four games this week and could be a solid glue-guy for fantasy rosters rest-of-season if Dallas does not add any pieces at the deadline.

Jalen Brunson, PG/SG, Dallas Mavericks (8% Rostered)

Another Mavericks player to consider is PG/SG Jalen Brunson, who has not lost much of a step after a torn labrum in his shoulder last year. Brunson is averaging a career high in minutes, points, assists, and rebounds with improved shooting efficiency across-the-board. He is a crucial piece of the Mavs’ offense given that someone has to pick up the slack when Luka Doncic isn’t on the floor.

While Brunson may not be a league-winner, he contributes well enough everywhere aside from stocks where he is quite a black hole. Since his return from a mid-season injury, Brunson is averaging 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.2 threes, and shooting extremely well from both FG (52.6%) and FT (88.2%). Pick him up for the 4 games this week and hold longer if you please.
