Vikings-Lions Key Injuries
Vikings
This isn’t an injury, but Dalvin Cook won’t play Sunday against the Lions after the sudden death of his father, James. Alexander Mattison is listed as questionable with a concussion, meaning Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah could be relied on Sunday.
Lions
Matthew Stafford is nursing an ankle injury that forced him to leave last week’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stafford may try to convince the coaching staff to let him play, but we could likely see Chase Daniel and/or David Blough under center in the Lions’ season finale.
Vikings Lions Players to Watch
MIN QB Kirk Cousins has thrown for 3 passing TDs in four of the Vikings’ last six games, thanks in part to his top WRs, Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson. The two wideouts have combined for 48 receptions, 571 yards and 4 TDs in the past four contests. The Vikings’ passing game should carry the offense with Cook out for this game.
DET RB D’Andre Swift should be leaned on Sunday, no matter who starts at QB for the Lions. Swift has three touchdowns in the last three games and gets to face a Vikings D that just allowed a record six rushing touchdowns to Saints running back Alvin Kamara. The defense actually allowed seven total TDs on the ground, so we could see a big game to close out 2020 from Swift.
Vikings-Lions Weather Report
Ford Field is a dome, so weather should have no affect on this contest.
Vikings-Lions Picks & Bet Tips
BEST BET: Vikings (-275)
Despite not having Cook, the Vikings should still have enough talent to pull out a win on Sunday. Minnesota defeated the Lions, 34-20, in Week 9, and we could see a similar outcome in this contest. With the uncertainty of Week 17 games, I’ll take the Vikings’ moneyline as my best bet instead of worrying about the spread.

CONSIDER: Vikings -6.5 (-115)
I’ll consider taking the Vikings minus the points, but with nothing to play for on either sideline, it’s tough to predict how close this game will ultimately be.
PASS: Over 54.5 (-110)
These teams put up 54 total points when they played in Week 9. It seems like that’s where this total comes from. I’ll pass on the over/under, especially without knowing who’s starting at QB for the Lions. However, if Stafford is out, then I’d take the under.
