The 49ers employ an offensive system that almost any competent running back can produce in. It’s been a revolving door at running back since Kyle Shanahan has taken over the 49ers with the latest stud in the stable coming in the form of Jeff Wilson.
In his past three games since Week 13, Wilson has scored a touchdown. With Raheem Mostert sidelined last week, however — Mostert suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 15’s loss to Dallas — Wilson popped for 204 total yards and a score versus the Cardinals.
Wilson will once again be the primary rusher in another tough matchup on Sunday. This time, he will get a Seattle defense surrendering the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game (96.2).
While Wilson has not been active in a meeting with the Seahawks since 2018, he did go off for 134 yards against them in their first matchup that season.
Seahawks WR DK Metcalf has had a monster season so far. However, he’s been relatively quiet in his past two games. In each of his past two outings, Metcalf has gone for fewer than 59 yards without a touchdown.
This is a get-right matchup for Metcalf. In three career games against the 49ers, he’s had 6+ receptions and 70+ yards. While he has scored 1+ touchdowns in each of his past two games, he really broke out in the Week 8 meeting with the 49ers from earlier this season. Metcalf dropped a 12/161/2 line on 15 targets on their normally stingy srecondary.
The 49ers are yielding the sixth-fewest passing yards per game (211.2) this season, but Metcalf has their number.
