Saints-Bears Players to Watch
NO QB Drew Brees has played in 129 outdoor games. He has a record of 73-56 while completing more than 65 percent of his passes for 215 TDs and 110 interceptions in those contests, so the future Hall of Fame QB isn’t as bad as his reputation might lead you to believe.
It’s the lack of passing TDs when playing outdoors that stands out the most here as he has 319 TDs to 118 INTs in 138 career games played in a dome.
The status of NO WR Michael Thomas, who hasn’t played since Week 1, could be the difference in this game as he’d surely be a big upgrade to what Brees and the Saints can do.
However, NO RB Alvin Kamara is the most important player in this game, coming off another all-purpose contest where he can for 83 yards on 14 carries and tallied 65 receiving yards on 8 catches.
CHI LB Khalil Mack is the most impactful player on the home sideline. He has 5.5 sacks and 9 QB hits in seven games. If the weather, specifically the wind, is a factor on Sunday, Mack and the Bears defense, which is allowing an average of 20.0 points per game this season, could get after Brees in Week 8.
CHI QB Nick Foles also faces a Saints secondary that has allowed at least 2 passing TDs in every game and three or more in the other four contests. Weather pending, Foles could bounce back from a rough performance against the Rams in Week 7.
Saints-Bears Weather Report
The weather report at Soldier Field calls for a temperature between 28 and 43 degrees Fahrenheit and wind gusts of up to 20 mph.
Saints-Bears Betting Guide
BEST BET: Bears +4 (-110)
Give me the Bears plus the points as a home underdog in this one. With windy weather in the Windy City on the horizon and Drew Brees’ lack of production when playing outdoors, I’ll lean to the Bears defense in a likely low-scoring contest. The more points I can get with the Bears the better.

CONSIDER: Under 44 (-110)
I said I think points will be at a premium in Chicago on Sunday, so I might as well back that up with a stat or two. Bears games have hit the over just twice in seven games this year and are 0-for-3 in games at Soldier Field. Despite the Saints hitting the over in all six of their contests, I expect Sunday to be their first under of 2020.
PASS: Saints (-216)
All of the above issues for the Saints and Brees playing outdoors are enough for me to pass on more than 2-to-1 odds to win this one straight up.
