Raiders Chargers Players to Watch

LV QB Derek Carr has thrown 14 TDs and just two picks this season. He also has two or more passing TDs in five of the Raiders’ seven games. Facing a Chargers team that has allowed at least two passing TDs in both of its games since a Week 6 bye as well as 300-plus passing yards in three of its seven games, I’d expect another quality game from Carr on Sunday.

However, it’s LV RB Josh Jacobs that has his best games in Raiders’ wins. That includes the 128 rush yards he put up against the Browns last week. And the Chargers D has allowed opposing RBs to top 100 yards on the ground and one rushing TD per game in each of its last two contests.

LAC QB Justin Herbert is now the favorite to win NFL rookie of the year, following four straight games with at least three passing TDs. The QB has also topped 300 passing yards in three of his six starts this season and faces a Raiders secondary that is allowing an average of 266 passing yards per game. Las Vegas has also given up 8 passing TDs in its last four games, and that includes the zero it allowed to the Browns’ Baker Mayfield in a weather-aided quality outing.

His top two WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both caught a touchdown last week while combining for 14 receptions and 166 receiving yards. Prior to last week’s “wind game" in Cleveland, the Raiders D had allowed at least 177 receiving yards and 6 total TDs to WRs in its previous three games. These two wideouts could both find pay dirt again Sunday.

Raiders Chargers Weather Report

The weather report for SoFi Stadium calls for more clouds than sun and cool temperatures with a couple of showers. There’s a 62 percent chance of precipitation, with up to two hours of rain, and a high of 61 degrees Fahrenheit.

Raiders Chargers Bet Tips

BEST BET: Raiders (-110)

When this game opened with the Raiders getting 2.5 points, that was my initial best bet. However, it’s now down to a Pick ‘Em. I’m going to trust my gut here and hope that the Raiders playing in back-to-back road games doesn’t come back to haunt them in LA on Sunday.

Plus, LAC HC Anthony Lynn seems to always find a way to lose when his team is favored, even by a single point.

CONSIDER: Over 52 (-110)

There should be lots of points scored in this game as noted in the “Players to Watch" section above. All of the top offensive players on both teams look to be in line for big games and that usually leads to points on the scoreboard. The Raiders have hit the over five times in seven games and the Chargers have gone over in four of seven. Give me a 31-27 Raiders win.

PASS: Chargers -1 (-105) / Raiders +1 (-115)

No need to touch the spread here. Just pick a winner with the -110 odds.
