Packers-Colts Players to Watch

In his last four games, GB QB Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 13 TDs with just one interception while averaging more than 300 passing yards per contest. He faces an Colts defense that ranks No. 1 overall and against the pass (214.9 passing yards per game) so I wouldn’t expect a great game from Rodgers. But, remember, even his bad games are good for other QBs.

Plus, the Packers’ offense should get a boost with the return of WR Allan Lazard, who was activated from IR on Tuesday. While Davante Adams will surely lead Green Bay’s receiving attack again Sunday, with his team-high targets (81), receptions (61), yards (741) and TDs (9), the return of Rodgers’ No. 2 option to go along with an upward-trending Marquez Valdes-Scantling is definitely a good thing when taking on this vaunted Colts D.

IND QB Philip Rivers won’t have it easy either, as the Packers D is ranked in the top-10 overall and in the passing game. The veteran QB will likely continue to spread the ball around after targeting 10 different pass catchers against the Titans in Week 10.

The player with the most targets (8), receptions (7) and yards (101) in that contest, WR Michael Pittman Jr., should remain a focal point in the Colts’ offense, but I wouldn’t expect another 100-yard game from the rookie WR.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this as it could play into the prop bet game this weekend. RB Jonathan Taylor and/or Nyheim Hines will score a TD on Sunday against a Packers D that has allowed 11 rushing TDs on the season.

Packers-Colts Betting Guide

BEST BET: Packers (+115)

I can’t for the life of me figure out why the Packers are underdogs in this game. Sure, the Colts have the rest advantage after a Thursday Night Football win over the Titans, but Green Bay is 2-0 this season as a road underdog. I’ll also take Rodgers in a coin flip game nine times out of 10.

CONSIDER: Under 51 (-110)

The Colts are on my list of teams that I bet the under on in every game. That’s even more apparent this week when they have an extra few days to prepare for the Packers. Plus, the over has hit just once in the Colts’ four home games this season. I’m predicting a 27-23 Packers’ win which puts me on the under by a single point. That all tells me to consider making this bet.

PASS: Packers +2.5 (-110)

If you want to take the Packers, take them moneyline as they’re unlikely to lose by two points. However, is this line moves to +3 or +3.5, then there’s some value in picking the Pack with the points. As it stands, this is a pass for me.
