NBA Week 5 Betting Stats & Trends: Nets Keep Hitting The Over

Last Updated: Jan 20, 2021

NBA Week 5 Betting Stats: Marcus Mosher brings the latest NBA Week 5 Trends to know.

We are now five weeks into the NBA season, which means we finally have some data to help us with our bets. Here is everything you need to know about betting on the NBA this week.

NBA Week 5 Betting Stats

1. The Over has hit in 9 straight games for the Nets.

The new-look Brooklyn Nets already appear to be hitting their stride — even without Kyrie Irving in the mix. They’ve now won four-straight games and are coming off an impressive victory against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.

With Kevin Durant and James Harden on the same team once again, this is arguably the NBA’s most explosive offense as they are averaging nearly 120 points per game. Because of the Nets’ elite offense, oddsmakers can’t make game totals high enough. The Over has now hit in nine straight games for this Brooklyn team.

It’s also worth mentioning that their opponent on Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers, have now seen the under hit in 10 of their last 11 games. Cleveland is last in the NBA in points per game (99.4) as they rank among the league’s worst teams in shooting percentage, three-point percentage and free-throw percentage.

This will be a fascinating matchup as the Nets will likely win with ease, but can they go over the point total in 10-straight games? We shall find out on Wednesday at the Rocket Mortgage Field House.

2. The Timberwolves have lost 9 of their last 10 games.

One of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season has been the Minnesota Timberwolves. After taking Anthony Edwards with the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, there was some excitement around this team with Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell on the roster.

But with “KAT” testing positive for COVID-19 and carrying one of the league’s worst defenses, this team has now lost nine of their last ten games.

They will take on the Magic on Wednesday night, who are in their own slump right now. After a hot start to the season, Orlando has now lost six-straight games and have a record of 6-8 on the year. The Magic have dealt with a ton of injuries, including an ACL tear for Markelle Fultz. This is a game with two really bad teams struggling on both sides of the court. This may be a game you want to avoid betting on.

3. The Grizzlies are one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the last two weeks.

One of the most exciting teams in the Western Conference right now are the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis has now won five- traight games and has covered or pushed in each of those contests. (4-0-1).

With Ja Morant back in the lineup, this might be a playoff-caliber team in 2021 as they already have one of the league’s best defenses and their scoring should pick up with the return of their leader.

However, they will have a tough test ahead of them on Wednesday night as they will take on the Portland Trail Blazers, who knocked them out of playoff contention last year. Portland will be without two huge pieces in C.J. McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic as each player suffered a significant injury over the previous week. But the Blazers remain resilient and are a tough out every night.

If the Grizzlies want to be taken seriously in the conference, these are the type of games they need to win.
