1. Celtics fans: It’s time to panic.
This was supposed to be the year the Boston Celtics challenged the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers for the Eastern Conference’s top seed. They addressed their center position in the offseason, adding Tristan Thompson to help match up with the likes of Joel Embiid and Brook Lopez. They (supposedly) solidified their bench and were hoping Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown would take the next step.
But something has gone wrong for the Celtics.
Through 31 games, they have a losing record as they sit at 15-16 on the season. They are currently in the midst of a significant slump, losing seven of their last ten games. Their offense appears to be the biggest issue as they are averaging just under 111 points per game, 21st in the league.
For bettors, they’ve been a team to avoid as of late as the Celtics have now gone 0-5 against the spread in their last five games. They’ll be on the road again on Wednesday night as they will face the Atlanta Hawks.
From a talent perspective, this is a game they should dominate. But given how inconsistent the Celtics have played this season, it’s best to avoid them at all costs. The panic button has officially been pressed in Boston.
