Lions-Titans Key Injuries

Lions

Even though Matthew Stafford returned to practice Friday, he remains questionable for this contest. He looks like a true game-time decision, meaning we could see Chase Daniel get the start against the Titans on Sunday.

Titans

The Titans’ injury report is mostly clean, but LG Rodger Saffold is listed as questionable and hadn’t practiced at all as of Friday. If Saffold is forced to miss the game, Jamil Douglas is expected to fill in at left guard.

Lions-Titans Players to Watch

DET RB D’Andre Swift returned to the Lions’ backfield in Week 14, after missing three games, and salvaged his day with a rushing TD. Swift had just 24 yards on seven carries, but he could have a bounce-back game against the Titans. The Tennessee run defense has allowed at least 100 rush yards to RBs in two of its past five games along with three rushing TDs.

And speaking of running backs, Derrick Henry is the straw that stirs the Titans’ drink. He has at least 100 rush yards in four of his last five and five of seven. Henry is coming off an absurd 215 rush yards and two TDs, the fourth time he’s accomplished that feat in his career. And the back gets a rush D that has allowed 16 rushing TDs this season along with 85-plus rushing yards in eight of its 13 games.

Lions-Titans Weather Report

The weather report at Nissan Stadium calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 51 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a 25% chance of rain and wind gusts of up 7 mph are expected.

Lions Titans Picks & Best Bet

BEST BET: Titans -10.5 (-120)

This bet might have a bit of recency bias, as the Titans are coming of a 21-point win, and we don’t know who’s starting at QB for the Lions. I’ll take this as my best bet as I’m assuming Stafford doesn’t play this week.

CONSIDER: Over 51.5 (-110)

We have two teams here that seem to like the over. The Titans have hit the over nine times and the Lions have done so on eight occasions in 13 contests. The status of Stafford is what pushes this to my consider, instead of my best bet.

PASS: Titans (-600)

If you want to risk $600 to win $100, go for it. But I’ll pass on the Titans’ moneyline this week.
